Exercise Rights And Wrongs - Dumbbell Rows | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: Unknown

Here we go again with another popular exercise that almost nobody does right! One thing that has always separated me from the average trainer is my ability to understand body mechanics. I have the ability to “see” the exercise and how it works and it just kills me when people do it wrong. Truthfully 9 out of 10 people don’t perform dumbbell bent over rows (or any row) correctly; they end up using their biceps to flex the arm up, rather than pull the elbow back, and retract the shoulders with the big lat back muscles. One reason why people use bad form is it allows them to use heavier weights. And when I show them the correct way, they must drop the load significantly to achieve correct form. Unfortunately, many people (mainly guys) would rather use more weight the wrong way, then do it right with less. What’s that saying? “You can lead a horse to water…..” Check out the video and let me know what you think. Were you doing Dumbell Rows right? Be honest.

Ask Alfonso: I Changed My Program – And Lost Muscle! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

I have to thank all of for actively participating in Angry Trainer Fitness. I’m really getting some terrific questions at the moment and it’s a pleasure to be able to pass on my advice and hopefully help some of you out there! Today, Christian from Costa Rica has written in because he’s lost muscle tissue recently. About 6 months ago he changed up his program and swapped out a day of weight training for a day of cardio. So currently he performs 3 days of weights, and 2 days of cardio. The result has been a decline in Christian’s muscle mass – so what should he do next? As you probably know by now I’m not a fan of separate days of cardio and weights, and that’s a key issue that I address in my podcast. But I also have a few other ideas for Christian which I hope will prove useful to him – and all of you out there too! Let me know what you think – and keep those questions coming

Ask Alfonso: Help - My Tennis Elbow Won’t Go Away! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Ah man, I hate when I can literally hear the pain and frustration as I read someone’s words. Chris has written me because he’s been suffering with tennis elbow for 8 years now and as of late, the pain just won’t quit. He’s tried it all, physical therapy, ice and heat, etc. - and is at his wits end. And of course he’s trying to avoid surgery. So Chris has asked me if I can recommend any other treatments and remedies. I’m not a doctor as you know, but I’ve seen enough of this injury throughout the years to make some informed suggestions. With that said, I always recommend anyone with an injury to seek medical attention and to get professionally diagnosed by a qualified doctor. Chris – hope you find my advice helpful. Good luck… Alfons

Time for another podcast here at Angry Trainer Fitness and this one’s for everyone out there feeling the bite of the recession (aren’t we all!) I totally disagree, and actually think that when it comes to a fitness program the more basic the equipment, the better the benefit. So today I’m giving you 5 Ways To Get Fit For Under $50 – five great products whose total cost is less than 50 bucks. That’s better value than 99% of the infomercial gadgets and gizmos out there!  Ask Alfonso: How Do I Find The Right Personal Trainer? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

The subject of today’s podcast is all too common – how to find a trainer that listens to your needs. Katie wrote to me after struggling to find a fitness professional that puts together a program that she likes – an all too common complaint I’ve heard many times before… Truthfully some of the blame with not being happy with a trainer rests on the trainee’s shoulders. When looking for a personal trainer, you must interview, ask for referrals, and do a bit of homework to make sure they’re a good fit. Don’t just settle for who’s available. Over the years I’ve picked up many tips for finding a great trainer. So take a listen to what I have to say and leave a comment below… happy hunting

If you’ve been following my Angry Trainer exercise ideology for a while now, you’ll know I’m generally not a fan of machines.  Ask Alfonso: Am I Over-Exercising? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Over the years I’ve come to realize that there are two types of people who engage in regular exercise - those that do TOO LITTLE and those that do TOO MUCH! Ironically, the effects on your body can be the same in both of these scenarios – both under-exercising and over-exercising can lead to fat gain, lethargy, joint pain and decreased fitness levels. Today’s Ask Alfonso Podcast is my response to Lynette, who wonders if she’s working out too much. After losing 100 pounds, she’s reached a plateau and doesn’t know what to do next in order to keep losing weight. Take a listen to my advice and have a think if the same story applies to you too… Enjoy

Exercise Rights And Wrongs - Squats | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: Unknown

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all still enjoying Angry Trainer Fitness as we continue on our mission to tell the TRUTH about health and fitness… Today the Angry Trainer Team is very excited as we’re about to start launching video content here on the site. Yes, we’ve been wanting to expand the site for a while now and a couple of weeks ago we shot some great little segments which we’ll be running over the next few weeks. There’s no stopping us now! This video is for a new strand we’re running here on the site called Exercise Rights And Wrongs. The fact is that I see so many people at the gym – and on reality TV shows – using terrible form and putting themselves at terrible risk for injury. Plus they’re not even getting the full benefits of the exercise they’re performing! To kick us off I’m addressing the form of one of the greatest exercises of all time – The Squat. The Squat is called the “king of all exercises” because it works every muscle in your body, and when performed correctly, can increase an individual’s fitness level significantly. But as with most common exercises, many people get ahead of themselves and use too much weight, poor form, and run a very high risk of injury. Check out the video below – pass it on to your friends and comment away - I listen to all of the feedback you provide. Also head over to the Angry Trainer Fitness channel on You Tube – and become a subscriber and you’ll be notified about all my upcoming videos.   . Stay angry everyone! Alfons
