Ask Alfonso: How Do I GAIN Weight? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Today I have a very unique Ask Alfonso podcast to share with you! Most of the time I’m approached by people looking to lose weight; many of whom have struggled for years trying to drop a few inches. But Shannon’s a 21-year-old female who’s looking to gain weight. She has the exact opposite problem of 95% of the population - she can’t put the pounds on! As a result Shannon’s afraid to exercise, thinking it will lighten her 99lb. “boyish” frame even further, and has resorted to eating junk food in an effort to increase her calorie intake. I know many of you may be thinking, “what a nice problem to have”, but trust me, it’s as real a problem for Shannon as weight loss is for many others. Shannon, thanks for the question! Hope you like my answer Alfons

5 Tip In 5 Minutes: 5 Way To Avoid Exercise Injuries | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

It’s time for another 5 Tips In 5 Minutes podcast and today’s topic is near and dear to me as it’s literally taken me 20 years to finally “get” these ideas fixed in my own head. Yep, I’m talking about exercise injuries and, trust me, I’ve endured more than my fair share of them over the years! So today’s tips all aim to reduce exercise injuries and keep you on track and away from those time and energy sapping recuperation periods. I know these suggestions seem simple, but trust me when I say many people don’t follow them – and really should! Don’t forget to leave your comments and questions below… Enjoy! Alfons

Ask Alfonso: Workout Supplements – What Do I Need? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

Hello everyone! As you doubtless know by now – we run our regular Ask Alfonso strand every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and they’re one of the most popular features here at Angry Trainer Fitness (thanks for all the great questions by the way - as you can imagine we receive a LOT of them now and I try and answer as many as I can) However because I have so much passion for many of the questions I’ve been asked, my site producer Richard thought it would be a great idea for you to HEAR some of answers, rather than just read them. And I agree! So from now on, every Wednesday we’re going to be answering our Ask Alfonsos as a podcast. Today it’s the turn of Charles, a reader who found me through iTunes, and wanted to know my thoughts on pre and post workout supplements. (BTW - in case you didn’t know my podcasts are now available on iTunes for you to download right into your iPod. Then you can take the Angry Trainer with you everywhere!) So take a listen to my response and let me know your thoughts, I’d love to hear what all of you think. And Charles, thanks for the great question! Enjoy! Alfons

The Biggest Loser: 5 Ways To Make The Show Better! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: Unknown

So last night the season finale of NBC’s hit weight loss show The Biggest Loser aired – with big ratings and big weight loss results – as usual. As you may know from my Biggest Isn’t Best piece I’m not the biggest fan of The Biggest Loser and take issue with many of the elements that make up the show’s format. Although the series is a huge success, I feel it’s missing some crucial elements that would make it a more responsible – and credible – program. So I figured now would be a good time to say what I would change about the show – and why! Now full disclosure - I actually submitted myself for consideration as a trainer for the new season, sending in a binder, with 7 sections clearly outlining who I was, my qualifications, philosophies, and the ways in which I thought the show could be made better. Needless to say, I never received a call! But then I can’t compete with the likes of the show’s new trainer, tennis starlet Anna Kournikova who’s obviously more equipped to be a personal trainer on a national television show, with morbidly obese people, than I am… Don’t you just love “reality” television! Anyway take a listen to my suggestions and let me know if you agree. Surely you must have an opinion, so let’s hear it
