The Dan Dakich Show Podcast

Dan Dakich talked Pacers, Cavs and NBA Playoffs for the first 21 minutes of the show and why Indiana let game 1 get away from them.  (21:22 mark) Jeff Van Gundy of ESPN NBA who called Cavs/Pacers and GSW/Blazers over the weekend called into the program to talk about CJ Miles taking the last shot, if PG should have got it back and why this will still be a good series.  Dan and Jeff also discussed why Draymon Green is one of the best players in the NBA.  (40:06 mark) Kenny Roda of of WHBC in Cleveland dropped by for a Cavs perspective on the series against the Pacers.  They also commented on Cleveland fans not being extremely confident right now in the Cavs.  (52:55 mark) The Big Cat of Barstool Sports talked with Dan Dakich about the argument if golf is considered a sport, Chicago Blackhawks being dominated so far and if the Bulls can pull off the upset over Boston.  (1:10:18 mark)  Finally, Andrew Dakich chimed in to discuss Paul George and the Pacers taking on LBJ and the Cavs in round 1 of the playoffs.  Oh, and of course beating his Dad in tennis and golf this weekend.

Dan Dakich started this Friday off by talking about the NBA Playoffs beginning this weekend and how the Pacers matchup with LeBron James and the Cavaliers.  And of course because it's Friday, you never know what direction the show will go.  (14:05 mark) The legendary HOF'er Slick Leonard dropped by the program to talk Pacers, Lance Stephenson's contributions to the team, why the team has changed since he arrived and how to try and stop LBJ.  (27:10 mark) Conrad Brunner of 1070 The Fan stopped in-studio to talk all thing Pacers, Cavs and NBA playoffs.  The last segment is more Pacers mixed in with a lot of random topics.  It's Friday people! 

Dan Dakich opened up the show and talked about the strong ending to the season the Pacers have and how Lance Stephenson has impacted this team in the short amount of time he has been here so far. He also mentioned the success Lebron has had not only in the playoffs, but in the first round alone. Kyle also shares a short story of his experience by getting hit in the crotch last night by the t-shirt gun at the Pacers game.  (17:10 mark)  Bill Livingston of the Cleveland Plain Dealer joined the show to preview the upcoming Pacers vs. Cavs first round NBA Playoff series and discuss what makes the Cavs so successfull. Bill and Dan also commented about the Cleveland Indians and how Cubs fans are making them both sick and tired.  (43:20 mark) Tricia Whitaker of CBS4 Indy called in to the show and mentioned her night at the Cubs game and the experience of seeing fans giving the players their World Series rings. Dan and Tricia also discussed how the Cubs are making him tired. To wrap things up, Dan asked Tricia if she is ever hit on while working and she goes on to elaborate what it is like being a women in her career field.  (1:08:45 mark) Mike Wells of ESPN NFL Nation joined Dan Dakich to talk about the latest addition to the Colts plus the Pacers back in the playoffs with the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Oh yeah, and Lance Stephenson too.  (1:20:10 mark)  Former stud ball player for Butler Erik Fromm dropped by to talk about how he is helping out the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well as the Butler community in honor of the passing of his father and Andrew Smith.  You can check out the link at: tinyurl.com/erikfromm  

Dan Dakich opened up the show this afternoon talking about the Pacer and Colts and what direction the Colts might need to go in the upcoming draft later this month.  (16:00 mark) Coach Rick Venturi presented by Circle K stopped by the Dan Dakich Show to talk everything offseason Colts as the NFL Draft is right around the corner.  (54:15 mark) Jon Barry of ESPN talked with Double D since he is in town for the Pacers/Hawks game tonight on ESPN at 8:00pm.  Dan and Jon talked about the current players resting situation and why it's not fair to the fans.  (1:13 mark)  Jonathan Hock who is a producer for ESPN's upcoming 30 For 30 film "Not One and Done" discussed the upcoming feature on UK's powerful basketball program as well as Coach John Calipari.  The next installment in ESPN Films’ award-winning 30 for 30 series will be “One and Not Done,” which will take an intimate look at University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach John Calipari’s successful yet controversial journey. The film, directed by Jonathan Hock (“Of Miracles and Men,” “Survive and Advance,” “The Best That Never Was”) will premiere on Thursday, April 13, at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Dan Dakich talked with Mike Chappell of Indy Sports Central this afternoon about the upcoming NFL Draft, what direction new GM Chris Ballard might go and who he thinks the Colts should add during the draft.  (16:02 mark) Madison Wise of Greenfield Central called into talk about how much Coach Laker meant to her and others on the team.  (26:34 mark)  David Kaplan of Sports Talk Chicago, CSN Chicago and ESPN 1000 commented on last night's WS ceremony before the game and what he thinks of this year's team.

Will Haskett of PGA Tour Radio also joined the show (13:43 mark) and talked about the Masters, Sergio Garcia and up-and-comer Jon Rahm. Later, Rich Torres of the Greenfield Daily Reporter joined Dan (22:16 mark) to talk about the situation with Greenfield-Central Girls Basketball Coach Doug Laker. And last but not least, our friend Brody Stephens called in from Riley Hospital to tell the Dan Dakich nation what he and family get to do this weekend.  We are all #BrodyStrong

Dan Dakich began the show this afternoon by talking about the Masters, Dustin Johnson and how much student athletes are given on a monthly and yearly basis based on scholarship, housing and per diem.  (24:04 mark) ESPN Golf Analyst and 2-time US Open Champ Andy North joined the show live from The Masters to discuss what golfers could win this tournament, the latest with Dustin Johnson and if the LPGA handled last weekend's drama the wrong way.  (38:15 mark)  Frank Isola of the New York Daily News and Around the Horn on ESPN chatted with Double D today about the current state of the NBA, why Phil Jackson has worn him out, covering Carmelo plus if Russell Westbrook should be the unanimous MVP.  (53:56 mark)  New Head Coach John Groce of the Akron Zips called in about his fresh start in Akron, how the process went down to get the job and how he was left in good hands by former Akron Coach Keith Dambrot who is now at Duquesne.  (1:17:36) Mike Wells of ESPN's NFL Nation who covers talked about what direction the Colts might be going plus the effect Lance Stephenson is currently having on the Pacers.  

Dan Dakich opened his show this afternoon discussing the topic of student athletes and those who think they should be paid.  (15:41 mark)  Ryan Burr of the Golf Channel called into Dan Dakich today live from The Masters to talk about his pick last year to win it, who are his top players to win this year and why The Masters is the easiest tournament to win of the year.  (35:00 mark)  New Head Coach Mike Boynton of the Oklahoma State Cowboys about how the process went down, his journey along the way, playing at South Carolina and playing Michigan in the NCAA Tournament.

Dan Dakich gave his opening monologue about last night's national championship game and the subject of student athletes being paid.  (15:30 mark) Former UCONN and WNBA star Rebecca Lobo and current broadcaster with ESPN joined Dan Dakich to discuss here going into the  Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, college hoops, Morgan William hitting the winning shot to beat the UCONN women's 111 game winning streak plus manicure and pedicure talk for some laughs.  (35:20 mark) Dan continued talking about the paying student athlete topics and why the education, basketball and college expierence they are receiving is so much more than most people understand.  (42:40 mark) Dan Dakich and Seth Greenberg who are two former college coaches had a chat earlier this afternoon about everything from last night's NCAA Championship, why UNC was able to win and the dominant topic of student athletes being paid.

New Head Coach Keith Dambrot for the Duquesne Dukes talked about his move from Akron, why Duquesne was a good fit for him, coaching LBJ in high school and what he thinks of the teams remaining in the Final Four.  ESPN CBB's Jay Williams joined Dan Dakich this afternoon to chat about last night's 3-point shootout, dunk contest and this weekend's upcoming Final Four.  Senior Andrew Dakich of the Michigan Wolverines joined Dad Dan Dakich to talk about this weekend's Final Four, why South Carolina is so good and if he is going to transfer to play basketball somewhere as a fifth year senior.  Dan and Andrew also commented on his new podcast on iTunes, Dak and Dunc Show.  Conrad Brunner of 1070 The Fan dropped by with Dan Dakich to talk everything local including the Pacers, Larry Bird bringing Lance Stephenson back plus the latest with the Colts.
