Correction time: Firearms Insider Listener Feedback Great show.  Many things I wanted to address while I was driving.  I will try to touch on them all, if I can remember. On the Glock 26.  I am a big guy too.  6'4 250ish.  I have found that a familiarity with a gun, not just holding one or firing one once, but actually handling for extended periods aids me in developing a skeletal, and muscular understanding of the gun.  Where the G26 felt strange with the pinky not supported, the more I shot it, the more I got used to it.  Same thing with the Wife's Kahr P380, and that thing is dinky.  But I shoot it well. The G26 is a great gun.  I carry it IWB manly, or as a back up on the ankle, or while driving.  I don't find carrying it as heavy in any way on the hip.   Not great ankle carry, but not bad. I think it would be hard to access as a cargo pocket gun.  It would flop around.  The G26 is not what I would classify as a pocket gun in any way. Tom Gresham on GUN TALK interviewed Ruger CEO on the microstamping issue and why Ruger pulled out on Jan 29. Ruger said that even a metallurgy change to the slide stop would drop the guns from the list. California is a minefield of dumb gun laws.  They are meant to make it so hard, that no gun will pass the test without massive design changes and tons of money spent, hence microstamping.  Next year, it will be something else,  target recognition software before gun can fire, or some dumb stuff. Did I hear you right?  The state testers shoot 1800rd per design submission?  How wasteful of tax dollars. To put that in perspective, the Ruger LC9 weighs 2.5 ounces more than the Kel-Tec PF9. Or 6.3 ounces less than the Ruger SR9c and 4.4 ounces less than the twice-as-thick Glock 26. Ruger’s smallest nine weighs about the same as a can of Campbell’s Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup.  If you’re looking for a featherweight firearm, Ruger’s LC9 weighs 7.7 ounces more than their wee LCP.   Main Topic:  Stopping Power, The Ultimate Caliber All State Knife Laws – Interactive Map with Knife Laws by State Questions: Hey man love the podcast. I had a quick question. What are your thoughts on the 32acp as an edc. We rented a few pocket guns for my wife and she liked the taurus tcp in 32 the best. I've tried finding ballistic info on the round and it lethality but I'm coming up short. Any help would be greatly appreciated. An Alternate Look at Handgun Stopping Power Some like big heavy bullets. Some like lighter, faster bullets. There isn't any consensus. The more I read, the more confused I get. Over a 10-year period, I kept track of stopping power results from every shooting I could find. I talked to the participants of gunfights, read police reports, attended autopsies, and scoured the newspapers, magazines, and Internet for any reliable accounts of what happened to the human body when it was shot. I documented all of the data I could; tracking caliber, type of bullet (if known), where the bullet hit and whether or not the person was incapacitated. I also tracked fatalities, noting which bullets were more likely to kill and which were not. Answer: Hey Marc, thanks for listening!! I'll be covering an article on the next episode regarding calibers and their ability to be lethal. I find that what's most important when it comes to our wives is to find a firearm that she loves to shoot and feels comfortable with it. If that's a .22, .32 or a .380, honestly I don't care. What's most important to me is that she is at least carrying something. Most criminals won't take a second look to see what caliber it is. Plus, if she's carrying a .45 and can't hit anything with it, what good would that be? Question: Can you cover what the new CCW (Ninth District) ruling may have on out of state reciprocity for CCW carry in CA? I realize it may be too early to tell - but what are you hearing. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER!!!! Training Trick:  This week, lets practice ‘Head Shots” for immediate incapacitation.  At 7 yards, set up a silhouette target.  Draw from your concealed carry position and fire one shot at the head.  Do not time yourself at the beginning.  As you build confidence and accuracy, attempt to accomplish the task within 2 seconds.  Once under 2 seconds is mastered, then aim for under 1.5 seconds, then down to 1 second. Welcome to Tactical Paradise!!!  I’m your host Greg Bakken.  In this podcast we’ll talk about all things tactical from everyday carry, to the mindset of armed citizens, real life situations and scenarios and the gear that will help you survive.  This is episode 44. "Brownells Police Store helps make this show possible. The Police Store has your tactical needs covered including Law Enforcement, Self Defense, and Security. Please visit www.tacticalparadise.com/police" Gear Guide:  Springfield XDs 9mm XDs 9 is the exact same size as the .45 externally XDs 9 is slightly heavier than the .45. XDs 9 was introduced because of complaints of recoil of the .45 The Crew at SHOT Show wasn’t fond of the mag release.  “Felt sticky” Main Topic:  3 Tips That Could Save Your Life 1.  Keep a personal bubble. It’s very important for personal safety to always be aware of your surroundings.  You need to know what is going on around you all the time.  Are you in a safe environment?  How does this environment affect your personal safety?  Is your environment constantly changing? What does my environment have to do with keeping a personal bubble?  I’m glad you asked. My personal space, or what I like to call the “danger zone” is just that.  It’s mine, and if you enter it, it will be dangerous for you!! It’s important to know what’s going on around you, but even more importantly what is going on in your personal space. How big is your personal space?  That is up to you.  How close will you let someone you don’t know come to you?  Three feet? Ten feet?  I guess it all depends on the circumstances.  If you’re in walmart on black friday, most likely you will let your personal space radar down a little.  But if someone is approaching you and staring you down, you may want to leave a little more breathing room. Most self defense training focuses on close encounters.  Does this  mean something can’t happen far away from you that may require self defense?  No.  But the majority of self defense situations will occur within 25 feet of you.  That’s something to think about. This brings me to my next point. 2.  Business Time If someone is all up in your business and trying to bump their chest on yours, don’t push them away.  Unfortunately in most states, this could be considered assault.  If our lovely bystanders don’t see anything because they are oblivious, I guarantee they will see you push away an upstanding citizen which initiated the fight.  At least according to their view. Instead, simply put your non dominate hand up like your direction traffic and your telling them to stop.  Now, slide your dominant foot back and followed by your front foot and step backwards.  At the same time, inform your opponent to stop and that you are feeling threatened.  This should draw some attention to our oblivious bystanders.  Again, if they continue to insist on touching you with their nipples, repeat the steps. This then brings me to my final thought of the day. 3. Watch their sticky fingers. Whenever we face an attacker, there is always one thing in common.  Whether the attacker is using a handgun, a bat, a knife, or their bare hands, the one common denominator is that they are using their hands to attack you. From my police basic training to field training, officers are told, "Watch the suspect's hands." But you are never taught how to do it.
