KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER!!!! Training Trick:   This weeks drill will require an 11x8.5 piece of paper to act as the target.  All shots on the target count.  Set the target approximately 5 yards from the shooter.  Place 5 rounds in your handgun and holster the weapon.  You will be shooting from concealment.  Place both hands up in the surrender position as if you are caught off guard and you are pleading with someone to go away.  At the start, quickly draw from concealment and shoot all 5 rounds at the 11x8.5 target.  Do not forget to search and asses before holstering your weapon. This drill is to help with speed presentation, sight alignment, sight picture, and follow up shots while recovering from recoil. "Brownells Police Store helps make this show possible. The Police Store has your tactical needs covered including Law Enforcement, Self Defense, and Security. Please visit www.tacticalparadise.com/police" Weekend getaway Gear Guide; Kimber Ultra Carry Main Topic:  How To Stay Out Of Jail What would happen if I carried a gun without a permit? California's self-defense law… specifically addressed under Penal Code 26045 PC… allows you to carry a gun under two circumstances: You believe that a person or property is under grave danger. Whether your belief of grave danger is reasonable is an objective standard.  A judge and/or jury will decide how a reasonable person would have acted in your situation. Legal definition of “carrying a loaded firearm in a public place” Penal Code 25850(a) reads as follows: “A person is guilty of carrying a loaded firearm when the person carries a loaded firearm on the person or in a vehicle while in any public place or on any public street in an incorporated city or in any public place or on any public street in a prohibited area of unincorporated territory.” “Loaded” A firearm is “loaded” when there is: an unexpended cartridge or shell, consisting of a case that holds a charge of powder and a bullet or shot, in, or attached in any manner to, the firearm…including, but not limited to, in the firing chamber, magazine, or clip thereof attached to the firearm. A muzzle-loader firearm is considered loaded when: it is capped or primed, and has a powder charge and ball or shot in the barrel or cylinder. Another question that arose was defense of personal property.  Can I shoot someone for being in my house? In order to defend your property: The threat of harm to your property was imminent (that is, immediate), and You used only reasonable force to defend your property. What is reasonable force for stealing property inside your home? Carrying at home and semi public places… How To Own A Gun And Stay Out Of Jail "Brownells Police Store helps make this show possible.  TPP 050 – So You Want To Get Into Law Enforcement? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 56:04

Welcome to Tactical Paradise!!!  I’m your host Greg Bakken.  In this podcast we’ll talk about all things tactical from everyday carry, to the mindset of armed citizens, real life situations and scenarios and the gear that will help you survive.  This is episode 50. "Brownells Police Store helps make this show possible. The Police Store has your tactical needs covered including Law Enforcement, Self Defense, and Security. Please visit www.tacticalparadise.com/police" Gear Guide: Sig Sauer P290 Greg, I really enjoy the show, keep up the good work! I have a Walther PPS and it is my EDC gun. I have carried it everyday for the last 2 years. It is chambered in .40 S&W though. I purchased it used from a shop that has an indoor range and they let me put a box of ammo through it before purchasing as long as I bought the ammo from them and payed a $10 range fee. I went with the .40 because I have a few full size pistols chambered in .40 and wanted to keep the same ammo. The magazine release was kind of a turn off at first, but I knew like anything else, practice makes perfect. I operate mine with my strong hand middle finger. This way my trigger finger is indexed down the frame as I manipulate a mag change. It took a little practice at first to get the hang of it and I performed a lot of dry fire mag changes to perfect the technique. The concealability of this gun is phenomenal. I carry it in a custom made hybrid IWB holster, basically a Crossbreed Supertuck knockoff. The gun is very slim and with the medium extended mag, the grip is still short. I can easily conceal it under a loose t shirt or untucked flannel. I am a big boy at 6'2" and a solid 235lb. The gun is small enough I can also carry it in a pocket holster in my cargo shorts or, during the winter, in the inside breast pocket of my work coat. I made a custom pocket holster for it. Overall, I love the gun. The ergonomics of it are great. It does have interchangeable back straps and the grip is somewhat rough for easy grip. I would recommend it to anyone but would remind them to keep in mind the mag release and it will take a little getting used to. Again, love the show and keep up the good work! Chris   Hi Greg... Enjoying your podcasts!  Thought I'd check in on your review of the PPS. I carry one as my EDC.  I'd like to comment that the gun is AMAZING and when Walther says the gun is comfortable to wear all day, they aren't kidding.  I LOVED how narrow this gun is.  I went from a Glock 27 to the PPS 9mm, night and day difference in carrying between the two. You mentioned the magazine release... this is the ONLY aspect of the gun that I am NOT in love with.  It's so un-natural for shooters to release the mag by reaching up to the trigger guard.  I have to practice moving my thumb out to release the magazine.  It does NOT come natural.  BUT you also don't have accidental magazine releases by bumping the standard mag release button.  You do not put your finger in the way of the trigger to press the magazine release.  The motions would not come close to depressing the trigger. But overall.. that's the ONLY issue I'd have with the gun, it's amazing otherwise!  Except for a variation or looking to carry a 1911, or when I need an even smaller pocket pistol, this is always my primary EDC. Keep up the good work on the podcast! Jammy Main Topic:  So You Want To Get Into Law Enforcement Fast Times At Academy 1.  TPP 049 – Adventures In Tactical Paradise | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:49

Welcome to Tactical Paradise!!!  I’m your host Greg Bakken.  In this podcast we’ll talk about all things tactical from everyday carry, to the mindset of armed citizens, real life situations and scenarios and the gear that will help you survive.  This is episode 49. "Brownells Police Store helps make this show possible. The Police Store has your tactical needs covered including Law Enforcement, Self Defense, and Security. Please visit www.tacticalparadise.com/police" Gear Guide: Walther Arms PPS Police Pistol Slim Hi Greg, I bought a 80% metal lower from Ares Armor and milled it out and it works great! However, it looks like the milling shops have been sent letters to scare off further work.  So I bought an EP 80% lower from Ares Armor a few months ago for a new build and milled it out myself with a Dremel tool and a drill press. I have yet to go to the range, but I should within the next few weeks. Looks like I better do it soon and then ship the lower out of state to the in-laws! Gear reviews: I purchased The Gunner belt from Hank’s Clothing that you talked about on your podcast. It is such a high quality and sturdy belt! Thanks for the great tip. I actually prefer it to any other belt I own. I also purchased a Kydex holster from Werkz.com after hearing about them on your show.  Shan was really helpful and the werkz holster is my favorite. Again, thanks for the great tip. While I cannot carry, it is great for when we are out shooting in the desert. I have a Ruger LC9, Glock 26, and Beretta 92FS.  I think my favorite full size is the Beretta, but the Glock 26 is such a nice handgun also – I usually bring both to the range. I have the Ruger LC9 as the lightest and smallest handgun when going backpacking and trying to cut down backpack weight. The LC9 has all the California compliant stuff such as trigger lock with no magazine, etc. It just makes the thing seem confusing and it doesn’t do what you think a gun should, like fire with a round in the chamber and no magazine, and then when a round is in the chamber it has a funky loaded flag that pops up from the top, etc. Not Ruger’s fault, just the misdirected California laws. I look forward to the podcast each week – just finished my 3rd LA Marathon, and I listen to your podcasts while out running.
