A story is recounted about a crazy old man with six fingers on each handd, who began to build a house. He got as far as digging the cellar, but hanged himself before more could be done. As the local man prattles on, the trio of mobsters hit the road. Is the haunting story something to fear, or be amused with? Though it creeps out his sidekicks, the ringleader decides the haunted cellar is a good place to hide there loot, since the local superstition about it keeps people from snooping there. Marlene, Pete and Stanley find the abandoned cellar, and start to dig a hole to bury their loot. Strange events begin to creep the mobsters out. Wierd, supernatural events all have scientific explanations... right? All that spooky stuff is all in your head, isn't it? Our trio of criminals discover the errror of their ways just a little too late, and hidden secrets of the cellar are revealed. Listen and enjoy this nice spooky story. Make sure you listen with all the lights out, huddle under the blankets, or gather around a midnight bonfire to retell this tale.

In Deadwood Gulch the miners are celebrating in the salloon. A hush falls as the sheriff enters to deal with a killing at a poker game. A man has been killed with a knife. The players are interviewed, and the story comes out in a flashback sequence. Was it one of the gamblers, or possibly someone from outside the open window? When Tonto is caught snooping around, he is tossed in jail for the crime. Lone Ranger comes to talk with Tonto, and more of the story, and a little about the characters comes out. The sheriff recognizes the Lone Ranger, and asks for his help. He even offers to release Tonto, and make it seem like a jail break. Confusion ensues as a posse makes a wild goose chase, but it gives the Lone Ranger time to figure out the mystery. With a better chance to examine clues and the crime scene, Lone Ranger and Tonto ride to follow up on the motive for the murder. It will take a little time, but it is worth it to make a solid case, and expose the bad guy. There's a twist ending when justice is done, and the Lone Ranger rides away.

An amusement park with an unsafe roller coaster catches the attention of the Green Hornet. Using his newspaper to stick it to the owner of the park, Jim Reed rakes the businessman over the coals, and won't back down despite threats of a law suit. It takes the Green Hornet springing into action to resolve this matter that the law would otherwise ignore,

Dennis opens with, Love Somebody. Dennis spends time bragging to Mildred about his victory days on the football grid iron... as waterboy. The hometown team is in the championships this year, and the whole town is excited. Dennis and Mr Anderson discover that the coach is worried because the team playbook has been swiped by the vival team. Our two heros get recruited for what might be a suicide mission to get it back. Posing as doctors,they set out. Will their efforts succeed? They find out the playbook they recovered was a fake, but their team still wins. What might have happened? Mrs Anderson might hold the answer to that one. Dennis wraps up by singing, Bluebird of Happiness.

It's a common word, something you see every day. But who will say it and win a fast $100? The contestants include: A housewife from Enid, Oklahoma, andand an Italian man who has a habit of spelling names and places. During the spelling bvee, Groucho grills the housewife about her grocery store owning husband. The wife of a barber and musician is partnered with, Wild Red Barry the professional wrestler. Her story is upstaged by the colorful wrestler. Learn about his tough, yet poetic side as Red shares with Groucho. A different ending is in store when the contestnts spin the wheel to determine what their prize will be. Who goes to the final round? Listen and learn.

This seems to be the wrong title, and from a later season. Possibly a more accurate title might be either, "The Mink Coat," or "Tenth Wedding Anniversary." Liz anticipates celebrating her ten year anniversary. George gives her a hard time about remembering, but in the end he challenges her to stick to a budget of buying each other a gift for $5. His boss, Gale Gordon, isn't so lucky about remembering such things as anniversaries. To get out of hot water, he shops for mink coats. George orders a simple negligee. Hmm... I see a package mix up coming on. George's reactions are priceless as Liz describes her activities upon unwrapping her unintended present. Gale Gordon doesn't take long to phone, and demand the packages be swapped. George panics when Liz wants to show off her coat to George's boss and his wife, the Attiberry's. George just doesn't have the heart to tell her the truth. Things don't go well for Mr Attiberry, or George. Attiberry ends up in jail, and George has to stop trying to sneak the coat away and tell the truth. There's one more snafu when Liz finally shares her gift with George. Note: for no explained reason, the names of Liz and George are changed to Cooper in this episode. Rather than their original names of Cugat. This is one obvious reason to believe this is actually from a later season, since the name change din't come until later. Also in the early shows, Mr Attiberry was normally played by Hans Conried.

The courtroom drama is about to begin. Lum calls the court into session, andfaces the unusual instance of trying himself. Mousey Gray is called as a witness for Squire to grill. Will he be fighting an uphill battle against judge Lum? Grandpap is the court clerk who calls on Abner, and even Lum to present testimonies. Things are looking good for Lum, until Cedric enters with a helping hand.

 Whitehall 1212 – The Man Who Murdered His Wife. 511216 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 29:35

After the Easter Blitz of 1941, a finding in the rubble has the inspectors of Scotland Yard on the scene. What evidence has raised the question of murder? It'll still take some work from the pathologist to sift through the human remains to piece the forensic clues together. The woman has been identified enough to learn that she wasn't a resident of the neighborhood. What might the crime logs turn up for the period just before and after the Easter Blitz? W ith all the destruction left in a bombing raid, will there be any hope of pinning this on anybody as a murder? Since fire played a part in the crime scene, it raises flags when the fire department records don't match up with the evidence and time frame. It might seem that way, but it helps to work out a better time line for the murder, and maybe even help in the identity of the woman. Suddenly an incident of a married couple who had a fight comes to memories. Just when the case is coming to a head, and a suspect is pinpointed, the trail comes to an end. Has the killer gotten away? Has Stanley Russel managed to fake his own death in order to hide? Diligence pays off over time as the case slowly plods along. Have they finally caught up to the real Stanley Russel

Red talks about doing some Fall house cleaning. Then about his brother inlaw. After Red stumbles over jokes about hair restoring, The Four Knights sing, Old Dan Tucker. Red puts a challenge to Rod to see if he heard Fred Allen last week, apparently on a quiz program. He then shows what it's really like in the homes across America when quiz shows are on. Willie Lumplump sits with his ear glued to the radio. Though his wife nags, he won't leave the radio. His neighbor has a medical emergency, but he won't let the phone be tied up. Interuptions, wrong numbers, and the threat of having the phone disconnected all have Willie going bonkers. Dave Rose plays, Beyond the Blue Horizon. A Page from the Mean Little Kid's Diary. Junior manages to do a good deed, but he can't figure out why everybody is so impressed by it. Before doing his deed, he has to get cleaned up, washed, and dressed to go out. Jokes about hygene turn to those revolving about social events. Juniors good deed comes when he overhears plans to blow up the dam, and spills the beans on the bad guys.

Bonus, A Slogan for the Cab Company, 1939-01-14. Andy presents ideas to Amos for a new company slogan. Amos has his own ideas on how to boost profits. Andy deflects the conversation by talking about his latest love interest. Not to be out done, Amos gets back to suggesting that an efficiency expert be hired. In Andy's New Wife, 431008. Andy finds himself in a predicament. His rich uncle, played by Ernie Whitman, is to come for a visit. The situation is that Andy will only be included in his will if he has proven that he has settled down, and gotten married. Conspiring with Kingfish, they send Amos on vacation, Andy takes over his apartment. Even an actress is hired to play his wife. The plan is too perfect. You know it won't hold together, so enjoy the fun as developments cause things to unravel. There's some funny scenes as our heros try to bribe an animal doctor to pose as the real thing. In the end, things work out between Andy and his uncle, although I don't think the topic of the will comes up. Hey, how did that work out anyway?

 Lum and Abner – Bail Is Five Cents, 420126 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:45

Things are looking up for Lum. Abner doesn't want to press charges, the letter that can restore his partnership, and save the case is in his possession, and he gets to try his own case. Still, Lum is in jail, and has to deal with Henry Lundsford. The Pine Ridge lawman is keeping Lum busy as he pays strict attention to his book on how a big time penitentiary is run. Lum reviews with Abner the details of how this whole mess came about. A recent twist finds that all important letter in Squire's possession, but he doesn't know it. Though Lum is chomping at the bit to get out of jail, he tells Abner about why he can't leave despite having an unlocked cell. Grandpap enters with an idea for Lum to get himself out of jail right now, instead of having to wait for his court date.

A couple of high dollar business rivals who are brothers hold a grudge against each other. When an offer comes to Richard Diamond, he smells a rat, and turns down the offer to get involved No amount of money can buy his loyalties, but it's a matter of justice and fair play that lures the reluctant Richard Diamond into the mikxWhen murder enters the picture. The trail of clues leads to a ascantily clad dame, and a web of lies to sort out. You know that Dick is getting too close for comfort when shady characters are out gunning for him. The body count is on the rise, but will Richard be taking the fall? Fortunately, Dick is no fool, and is ready to confront the killer, but can he bring justice before there's even more death in the picture?

Flashback to witness Jack on the phone. He's having a fall out with his sponsor. This is a serious problem, but is Mr Jones taking Jack seriously?The spponsor seems distracted by a baseball game taking place on the radio. The telephone operators, Mabel and Gertrude, take center stage to comment on the futility that Jack is facing with his sponsor. Will Jack be losing his job? Larry Stevens sings, but his number is snipped. Mary and Phil give Jack a hard time over Jack's decision to use a publicity agent to boost his popularity. Rochester gets in his own jabs at Jacks expense. The fast talking publicity man shows up with a busy itenary for Jack. It so busy that it makes yu wonder whether Jack will ever get his play started. Phil plays, but the number is cut short. In honor of National Newspaper Week, Scoop Benny takes us for an inside look at a busy news room. Enjoy the colorful characters that make for good news paper stories. Gangsters, hot tips, murder, and a mystery to solve before the cops do. Rochester acts as a witness, and Phil assists Jack's investigation as the sultry Mary tries out a scene that plays up her sex appeal.

Orson Wells is back in this radio presentation of a short story by Agatha Christy. A married couple spend their honeymoon in a jungle paradise. Memories of the last week in London begin showing up to ruin the picture, as the listener is clued in through flashback. A dark story of murder. Back on the island, the young bridegroom shows signs of health problems. Threads from the beautiful tapestry of those honeymoon moments unravel. A diary is found. Secrets are out. Artificial fronts, and posturing spring into the relationships. Where is all this going? This is a story by Agatha Christy, so you know murder has to be involved. As mistrust creeps in, desperation grows, suspense builds. Has this bride married a bluebeard? Will he be the type to abuse her? Will she end up dead? Hysteria reigns, but all the plot twists aren't in until the last moment.

After taking the Summer off, Dean and Jerry return to the air. It's nearly time for the grande opening of their own nightclub, and the guys are excited. They try to gather the best show girls, the best orchestra, then Dean sings. With their success, Jerry gets the idea to make a movie of their lives. What would that look like? You won't have to imagine for long, since a spoof of such a proposed movie is acted out. What kind of secrets might the guys reveal about themselves? They have such an action packed, and comical childhood that Dean takes time to sing for an intermission. The spoof continues as Dean and Jerry find their place in the world.
