Season 7, Episode 71 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers getting trounced by the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game in Foxborough. As you can probably imagine, David and I have a lot of negatives to talk about during this show and it starts with us discussing the play on the defensive side of the football. The Steelers defense had no answers for the Patriots passing game as quarterback Tom Brady easily deciphered their scheme pre-snap and got his offense in several high percentage plays. We talk about the lack of pressure the Steelers front had and wonder what the average time to throw Brady registered. The Patriots wide receivers were wide open most of the game and that was very disturbing to see. The Steelers offense certainly isn’t off the hook as the young wide receivers failed to make big plays throughout the game. We talk about how the Patriots defense effectively limited wide receiver Antonio Brown and how the loss of running back Le’Veon Bell to a groin injury early on certainly didn’t help matters. We discuss what happened on the Brady fumble and the subsequent review after it was challenged. After spending most of this episode breaking down the game, David and I take a quick look ahead at draft needs and discuss the overall state of the team heading into the offseason. As you can imagine, there’s a lot to talk about in this episode and we get right to grading the Steelers three units in addition to talking about scheme, and individual performances. Did Ben Roethlisberger have a poor game Sunday night against the Chiefs? We discuss that topic quite thoroughly in addition to whether or not the Steelers should have run the football in the red zone more than they did. The Steelers Thursday injury report didn’t include good news for several players so David and I go over who’s healthy and who isn’t ahead of Sunday’s game. We once again have a long discussion about the future of tight end Ladarius Green. The Steelers reinstated linebackers coach Joey Porter on Friday and that means he’ll coach Sunday in Kansas City. David and I discuss if that was the right decision for Art Rooney II to make. Will the Steelers actually use cornerback Justin Gilbert on kickoff returns against the Chiefs? It’s looking like that might be the case so we go over that development in addition to how the Steelers punt coverage team might look on Sunday. David and I discuss how the Steelers should handle Chiefs return man Tyreek Hill on Sunday. We move on to discuss the Steelers and Chiefs on both sides of the football in addition to focusing in on how both teams should attack and defend during this contest. We talk POOTOS, field position and explosive plays in this episode in addition to successful play percentages for both defenses. As always, we close out our Friday show with our weekly predictions and this week we only have four playoff games to predict. Season 7, Episode 66 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Wednesday show, David Todd and I get right to discussing the current statuses of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and linebackers coach Joey Porter. We update the health of Roethlisberger, who injured his right foot late in the win over the Miami Dolphins, and then talk about the Steelers decision to place Porter on a leave of absence following his Sunday night incident on the South Side. We talk about whether or not the Porter is incident will be viewed as a distraction should the Steelers wind up being eliminated from the playoffs by the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Will Porter be back this season? What about next season? We discuss those two items in addition to talking about former Steelers linebacker Kevin Greene apparently being open to coaching in Pittsburgh should Porter ultimately be let go. We talk a little about the production the Steelers got out of their outside linebackers the last two seasons and that turns into us discussing a few players who will be restricted and exclusive rights free agents after the season is over.
