In this Monday show, Alex Kozora and I get right to the news regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers reworking the contract of new CB Donte Jackson after trading for him last week. We go over the details of Jackson’s new contract and where that puts the Steelers right now as far as their 2024 salary cap situation goes. The Steelers are now set to bring in free agent WR Mike Williams later this week, so Alex and I discuss that news, the potential of him signing with the team, and his possible fit in Pittsburgh when it comes to the offense. We move on to talk more about new Steelers QB Justin Fields and that includes his play to date, his upside, how he might be used in the offseason 2024 as a backup to Russell Wilson and much more. In this Sunday show, which was recorded very late on Saturday night, Alex Kozora and I get right to the news of the Pittsburgh Steelers acquiring QB Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears via a trade earlier in the day. Alex and I discuss the compensation value that the Steelers had in trading for Fields and how the Bears effectively just had to give him away to him. We talk about how Fields' trade value seemingly rotted away this offseason. We go over the links the Steelers have to Fields dating back his draft year, what the tape says about him and his fit in the Pittsburgh quarterback room. In this Friday show, which really goes off the rails quickly halfway through it, Alex Kozora and I start by reviewing the introductory press conferences that were given by QB Russell Wilson, LB Patrick Queen and S DeShon Elliott earlier in the day. We cover the main talking points from each. With Elliott being a new addition since our last show we discuss what all he brings to the Steelers and the role he'll likely have in the defense. Alex and I then recap the re-signings of three Steelers players, LS Christian Kuntz, S Miles Killebrew, and DT Montravius Adams. We try to answer the why related to Johnson being traded and then move on to discuss the arrival of Jackson to the team. We attack this discussion from every angle and the impact, if any, it might have on the rest of free agency and the draft. As part of the trade discussion, Alex and I discuss the initial salary cap impact of it. We also discuss the possibility of Jackson’s contract being adjusted in some way, shape, or form upon his arrival to the team. We go over what that might look like if something related to his contract does happen. We move to discuss the Steelers agreeing to terms with former Baltimore Ravens LB Patrick Queen on Tuesday. We go over his play to date, what his tape says, and what all HC Mike Tomlin has said about the linebacker in the past. We discuss his fit with the Steelers and what it means to the position group overall. We also discuss the Queen contract and specifically how it's such a great deal for the Steelers. The Steelers also came to terms with former Houston Texans P Cameron Johnston so we set aside some time to discuss everything related to him joining the team.
