Season 7, Episode 56 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I get right into talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers win Sunday over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals certainly let this game get away from them in the second half and the Steelers took advantage of it. We talk about the state of Bengals after this game to start and whether or not their locker room has enough leadership. We also discuss the future of Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. The Steelers suffered a few injuries in their win over the Bengals so we make sure to recap those. Steelers kicker Chris Boswell had a great game against the Bengals as all six of his field goals added up to a lot of yards. We throw around a few stats related to that. Steelers guard David DeCastro had two more penalties called on him Sunday so we look at his play this season in addition to how many of his flags resulted in killed drives. David and I move on to recap the Steelers win by breaking down the play on both sides of the football. We start with the offense before moving on to the defense. That unit really played great in the second half. Steelers wide receiver Sammie Coates played quite a few snaps against the Bengals so David and I have no choice but to break down his play. Is linebacker Bud Dupree playing well right now? Is he disruptive? We discuss that topic. We wrap up this show by looking at the Steelers playoff scenarios in addition to discussing some clock management and play-calling from Sunday’s game. David and I first talk about the play of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Sunday which wasn’t great at all as he threw three interceptions during the game that allowed the Bills to hang around. Running back Le’Veon Bell had a career day against the Bills so we discuss his performance in detail. Part of that success revolved around the play of the Steelers offensive line that included B.J. Finney starting at left guard in place of the injured Ramon Foster. Should Finney be the starter now? We discuss that topic. Was the Steelers offensive game plan wrong at the start of Sundays contest? That gets our attention during the first part of the show. Is Bell a candidate to win the league MVP following Sunday’s performance? We dive into that topic head-first. Outside of the Bills final two offensive possessions, the Steelers defense played extremely well Sunday and we point out the outside linebacker rotation used as well as a few individual performances that stuck out after watching the game a few times. We go over the AFC seeding entering Monday night and discuss the Steelers chances when it comes to them making a long playoff run. There’s quite a bit to talk about following this big Week 13 win by the Steelers and David and I spend a good portion of this show talking about the play of the defense against the Giants. We go over several individual performances on the defensive side of the football and make sure to recap the big red zone interception by linebacker Lawrence Timmons. The play of the secondary is discussed quite a bit in the first half of this show and that includes us talking about rookies Artie Burns and Sean Davis. After spending a lot of time on the Steelers defense, David and I finally get to the offense. We talk about how early play calling set up other plays later in the game and we focus in on the production of tight end Ladarius Green. We discuss the play of the Steelers offensive line against the Giants in addition to whether or not we should be concerned about the recent fumbles by running back Le’Veon Bell. The offense certainly made it tough on themselves Sunday with penalties and drops so we make sure to hit on that talking point. At the end of the show we make sure to praise the efforts of new kicker Randy Bullock against the Giants.
