A Pod of Their Own, Episode 86: Petition to get Meredith Wills a vacation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4332

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we have Dr. Meredith Wills on the show to recap what was going on with the 2020 baseballs, what’s up with the baseballs this season, and how hitters can adjust in the Year of the Pitcher. We wrap things up, like we always do, with Walk-off Wins where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.  UnforMETable, Episode 54: John Pacella | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1479

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Born in Brooklyn and having grown up on Long Island, the Mets tabbed local prospect John Pacella in the fourth round of the 1974 draft. The local boy would make brief appearances with the team in 1977 and 1979 before making a bit of a mark in 1980. In addition to a stretch of solid starts in the middle of the season—including outdueling Steve Carlton for his first major league victory—Pacella gained some notoriety for his wild pitching motion, which caused him to lose his baseball cap on virtually every pitch. As always, you can listen or subscribe to this and all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. It really helps! And you can find us on the Stitcher app, or listen wherever you get podcasts. If you’ve got an idea for a player to be featured on UnforMETable, let us know in the comments.  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 85: “This entire team is made of toothpicks and I love them.” | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4484

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing all of the highs and lows of the month of May for the Mets—the seven-game winning streak, the Patrick Mazeika magic, the terrible series in St. Petersburg and the bullpen breakdown, and then the rash of injuries. But somehow the Mets are still finding ways to win, as they have done the past two days, thanks to the self-proclaimed “bench mob.” And they are still in first place in the NL East. The long list of injuries is not just a Mets problem, however. In the second half of the show this week, we talk about how injuries are up all across the league, particularly soft tissue injuries. We also talk about how Kevin Pillar’s gruesome injury is indicative of a baseball-wide issue—pitchers throwing harder and harder with less and less control. We also discuss Tony La Russa being the absolute worst and remind our listeners that Mickey Callaway still has a job. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.  UnforMETable, Episode 53: Brian Bannister | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1013

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Brian Bannister was drafted by the Mets in 2003, and made it to the Show in 2006. While he only made a handful of starts before getting injured, Bannister showed potential for the team, and was used as a trade chip in the off-season. From there, he went to Japan, to the Red Sox’s coaching staff, and now to the Giants’ front office. As always, you can listen or subscribe to this and all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue in Conversation, a podcast from Amazin’ Avenue where we invite interesting people on the show to talk about themselves, the Mets, and more. If These Walls Could Talk: New York Mets Stories From the Dugout, Locker Room, and Press Box came out at the end of April, and it gives a unique perspective on the last 20 years or so of the Mets’ story.  UnforMETable, Episode 52: Adam Wilk | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1948

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Adam Wilk was signed prior to the 2017 season as an option for rotation depth or as a possible left-handed option out of the bullpen. But Wilk was unexpectedly pressed into action when the team suddenly needed a starter after suspending Matt Harvey for failure to report to a game on time. Wilk had to travel across 5 states in 24 hours, taking a redeye to New York, landing and reporting directly to Citi Field to take the mound—only to endure a drubbing at the hands of Giancarlo Stanton and the Marlins and get unceremoniously designated for assignment the following day.  Amazin' Avenue in Conversation, Episode 25: Brian Baker | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3128

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue in Conversation, a podcast from Amazin’ Avenue where we invite interesting people on the show to talk about themselves, the Mets, and more. Brian Baker only became a Met fan when he moved to New Jersey in the mid-2010s, but he has made up for lost time. If you’re a fan of punk rock, you know Brian as the founding bassist of Minor Threat, founder/guitarist/songwriter of Dag Nasty, the guitarist in Bad Religion since the mid-90s, and, most recently, as the guitarist in both Fake Names and Beach Rats. Hosts Chris and Brian geek out for 40 minutes or so with Brian about the time he played with Carlos Santana as a tween, this most likable of Mets teams, and much, much more.  Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), Episode 60: Cold Chili | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3058

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. The Mets have finished a seven game road trip, coming back to Queens after playing 4-3 on the road. That happened despite a rash of injuries, the bats still not exactly waking up, the firing of their hitting coaches, and games against the two current division leaders in the East and Central. Brian and Chris discuss these topics, as well as bizarre fan deductions, on the show this week.  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 83: Get a Tempur-Pedic | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4788

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing the past couple of weeks of Mets baseball, which have been quite the rollercoaster between the slumbering Mets offense revived by Donnie Stevenson, the firing of Chili Davis, deGrom’s lat issue (he should be fine), and a benches-clearing incident over the weekend. Next, we talk about how pervasive poor umpiring has been across baseball this year.
