From Complex To Queens, Episode 127: What a complete catastrophe | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3555

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. The USS Nevada was an indestructible ship that was finally put to her grave on this date decades ago, so the team looks at the most indestructible baseball players in Promote, Extend, Trade. Next, the team discusses the MLB trade deadline, the acquisition of Javy Baez & Trevor Williams, the departure of Pete Crow-Armstrong, some rumored moves that did not happen, and where we go from here. After that, Steve and Ken have an emergency late night discussion regarding the embarrassing end to what will go down in history as one of, if not THE, worst drafts in Mets history. A warning to the faint of heart: more cursing takes place during this segment than in the entire history of From Complex To Queens combined. Finally, the WilponerySteve Cohenery of the Week. Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. This week, Brian and Chris discuss the two newest Mets, Javier Baez and Trevor Williams, and debate how they’ll fit into this team. The lack of bullpen arms acquired at the deadline is a sore spot for both hosts. Despite a rough series with the Braves, optimism abounds, despite the return of the black jerseys.  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 95: My kingdom for a horse...or a starting pitcher | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4499

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by reviewing how the Mets’ second half has gone so far—Pete Alonso’s hot streak, J.D. Davis’ return from the injured list, Francisco Lindor’s injury, the acquisition of Rich Hill, and the need for still more pitching help.  Next, we talk about the Mets’ needs ahead of the trade deadline and potential trade targets.  We also discuss Simone Biles dropping out of the team gymnastics competition at the Olympics and how it harkens back to discussions we’ve had previously on the podcast about the importance of mental health and recognizing the humanity of athletes. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  In this week’s Walk-off Win, Allison shouted out an amazing artist named Elise Dodoles, who received a grant from the Russell J. Efros foundation to paint a series of paintings of women playing baseball.  UnforMETable, Episode 62: Orel Hershiser | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2304

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. The 1988 Mets seemed poised to cruise into their second World Series in three seasons and a glamorous matchup with the Oakland A’s. That was before they ran into the force that was Orel Hershiser that season. The Cy Young winner battled through a lengthy recovery from labrum surgery in the early 1990s to remain a viable major league pitcher. He was a solid veteran presence for a Cleveland team that won two American League pennants in three seasons before coming to the team he once denied to try to do the same in 1999. In the twilight of his career, Hershiser nevertheless lived up to his Bulldog nickname, battling and having some memorable moments in his sole Mets season—winning his 200th game, donning the ill-fated uniform of the Mercury Mets, and providing crucial innings in the Grand Slam Single game. If you’ve got an idea for a player to be featured on UnforMETable, let us know in the comments. Make sure to follow Rob on Twitter (@WolffRR), and you can now follow the show, too (@unformetable).  From Complex To Queens, Episode 126: A noticeable lack of a comprehensive response | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4154

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. Steve witnessed a shocking upset while watching the GCW Homecoming show in Atlantic City this past Saturday, so the team discusses some shocking moments in video game history in Promote, Extend, Trade. After, Steve unfortunatley gives the last CPBL/KBO/NPB update. He has a new job and unfortunately does not have the time to keep with the Mets minor league system and the three foreign teams that we have been following simultaneously. We encourage everybody who has enjoyed the updates to continue independently following the CPBL/KBO/NPB, because baseball is worldwide! Following that, the team discusses Steve Cohen’s failure to meet his self-imposed deadline to address how the Mets are going to better provide for their minor league players and the things that the organization has and has not done since they were first publicly shamed into action a few weeks ago. After, the team talks about how the Mets’ minor league affiliates did in this twelfth week of the 2021 season. Finally, in Oh Yeah, That Guy!, Thomas recaps the career of Brooklyn Cyclones legend Danny Garcia. This week, From Complex to Queens co-host Lukas Vlahos sits in for Chris. Brian and Lukas discuss the recent acquisition of Rich Hill, and what sort of an impact Hill may make on the Mets rotation for the rest of the season. They also discuss the bizarre series in Cincinnati, other potential moves the Mets may make in before the trade deadline and the rumored changes made to the minor leagues, in terms of compensation and housing.  UnforMETable, Episode 61: Shawn Abner | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1683

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. With the 2021 MLB Draft in the rearview mirror, we take a look back to June 1984, when the resurgent Mets were in first place—and held the first overall pick in the draft. The team would use that pick on Shawn Abner, a “can’t miss” high school outfielder the team envisioned in a future outfield with Darryl Strawberry. As the organization quickly transitioned from rebuilding to contending to World Champions, the prospect quickly became trade fodder, as the team packaged him to acquire Kevin McReynolds. Abner would struggle in the majors; ultimately ending his career back in the minors with the Mets’ organization. Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. The All-Star break is typically a time when your team is, more or less, out of the news. But the combination of the MLB Draft, the Home Run Derby, and the All-Star Game itself has led to a lot of Mets news. Brian and Chris discuss Pete Alonso's prodigious dinger hitting, Taijuan Walker's deserved appearance in the mid-summer classic, and the newest marquee Met, Kumar Rocker.
