Season 8, Episode 111 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Tuesday show, David Todd and I get right to talking about the new NFL policy on the National Anthem and the fallout from that. In this lengthy discussion we talk about the difference between the NFL and NBA when it comes to the anthem and how the social injustice topic is handled by each. The Pittsburgh Steelers second week of OTA practices are now underway on this Tuesday and David and I discuss how the team will use their tight ends during the 2018 season. Will Vance McDonald play more snaps than Jesse James in 2018? Will James be re-signed prior to the start of the 2019 free agency period? We discuss all of that. Will wide receiver Marcus Tucker make the 53-man roster this year and what will the bottom of the depth chart at his position look like come Week 1 of the regular season? We discuss that position group. Season 8, Episode 110 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers first week of 2018 OTA practices that wrapped up on Thursday. We discuss the status of wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster, how outside linebackers Bud Dupree and T.J. Watt are flipping sides and if there’s much to be read into that. We discuss the Steelers inside linebacker depth chart and how veteran Jon Bostic fits into it. We discuss whether or not linebacker Ryan Shazier would have made a difference in last season’s playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars as well. The Philadelphia Eagles finally parted ways with linebacker Mychal Kendricks this past week so we spend a little bit of time talking about his status. We discuss the Steelers need to play better against the run in 2018 in addition to talking about a few other notes coming out of OTAs this past week that revolve around running back James Conner and offensive lineman Matt Feiler. Season 8, Episode 109 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Tuesday show, Alex Kozora sits in for David Todd once again and we get right to previewing the Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 OTAs that are now underway. Alex and I talk about what kind of soundbites we’re likely to get out of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in the coming days in addition to talking about the absence of running back Le’Veon Bell over the course of the next month and if it’s really a big deal. We move on to look at the Steelers running back depth chart entering OTAs and if we think the team might consider adding a veteran into the mix right before training camp gets underway. We go over a few things we’d like to hear out of veteran players and coaches as the Steelers OTA sessions progress over the next few weeks. We also talk about a few players that might still be sidelined by offseason surgeries in the coming weeks along with one of the team’s 2017 draft class that should be ready to hit the field again starting Tuesday. We talk some about Steelers inside linebacker Tyler Matakevich, L.J. Fort and the rest of the depth chart at that position ahead of OTAs getting underway. Season 8, Episode 108 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Tuesday show, Alex Kozora sits in for David Todd and we get right to discussing the main talking points that came out of the Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 rookie minicamp that took place this past weekend. Alex and I go over what I deemed to be the most-useful information gleaned from this year’s rookie minicamp in addition to talking about the moves that were made following the weekend event. It’s been a while since Alex has had his turn to talk about the Steelers 2018 draft picks, so we go over his updated thoughts on the class in addition to reviewing what he has learned over the course of the last few weeks about the blocking abilities of running back Jaylen Samuels. We also discuss a few of the team’s undrafted free agents heading into the team’s OTA practices which will begin on May 22. Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell made a semi note-worthy tweet on Monday so Alex and I briefly go over his current situation that includes there now being just two months remaining before this years deadline to sign him to a long-term deal. We briefly touch on the SCOTUS sports gambling ruling from Monday in addition to how many games the Steelers are currently favored to win during the 2018 regular season to close out the show. Season 8, Episode 107 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and I get things started by previewing the Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 rookie minicamp. We go over a few tryout players that might be worth paying close attention to in addition to talking about a few players who seemingly won’t be able to participate in practices over the weekend due to NFL rules. We go over a few of the perceived high priority undrafted free agents who were signed this year in addition to discussing the draft picks who have now signed their rookie contracts. Former Steelers quarterback Tommy Maddox had a few things to say recently to ESPN.com about quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and how he expects the relationship between him and rookie quarterback Mason Rudolph to develop moving forward. Roethlisberger has reportedly now contacted Rudolph, so we quickly hit on that Friday news. Is rookie running back Jaylen Samuels the most-intriguing player in this year’s draft class? We discuss that topic in addition to going over how Samuels was used as a runner and pass catcher by North Carolina State during the 2017 season. We close the show out with some talk about banned substance use in both the NFL and MLB and how the Steelers are currently not expected to receive any compensatory draft picks in 2019 due to the way free agency transpired this offseason. Season 8, Episode 106 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I get things started by talking about the Friday comments made by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger during a 20-minute radio interview. Was this just Ben being Ben, or too much passive aggressiveness on his part? We discuss that in addition to talking about the comments he made about Landry Jones and Joshua Dobbs now that the Steelers have added another quarterback in Mason Rudolph via the draft. Speaking of Jones, where does he currently rank around the NFL as far as backup quarterbacks go? Can you name 32 other quarterbacks currently on NFL rosters you would take right now ahead of him? We dig deeper into as few other things Roethlisberger said on Friday in addition to how Rudolph has acted throughout this entire brief period. We also discuss the reaction Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has had so far to his team drafting another quarterback in the first-round. Season 8, Episode 105 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and I get things started by talking about the proposed kickoff rule changes that will be voted on in late May. We discuss if they will make that particular play more safe and exciting if passed. The Pittsburgh Steelers placed linebacker Ryan Shazier on the Reserve/PUP list this past week and restructured his 2018 contract year to boot. We discuss why they likely did that restructure as it relates to the 2019 season. The Steelers entered May with a little more than $5.9 million in salary cap space, so David and I discuss how a good portion of that available space is already earmarked for future costs. The Atlanta Falcons signed quarterback Matt Ryan to new lucrative contract extension on Thursday, so David and I discuss what it means to that positions market and how we’re likely to see a few other higher-profile quarterbacks follow him with new deals. I have started to dig deeper into the college tape of new Steelers wide receiver James Washington, the team’s second-round draft pick this year. I share with David some interesting big play numbers related to Washington’s college career along with a few other observations I have made so far related to his play. Wilcox on Monday. We move on to talk quite a bit about the Steelers day-three selections of the 2018 NFL Draft with most of that discussion centered around running back Jaylen Samuels. We discuss his chances of masking the Steelers 53-man roster before moving on to talk about a few priority undrafted free agents the Steelers signed in wide receiver Quadree Henderson and inside linebacker Matthew Thomas. The Steelers 2018 defense is sure to look a lot different from a personnel aspect and David and I go over which players might have their snap counts impacted the most. Season 8, Episode 101 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and I get right to recapping what happened Thursday night during the first-round of the 2018 NFL Draft. We both give our quick overviews of what all transpired Thursday night for the Pittsburgh Steelers before diving deep into each specific topic. We start with the Steelers decision to trade wide receiver Martavis Bryant to the Oakland Raiders for a third-round selection and why it didn't make much sense ahead of time for either side to do that deal. That said, we were both impressed with the return that the Steelers got for Bryant. We also go over the salary cap space the Steelers saved by trading Bryant in addition to talking about the current wide receiver depth chart now that he's gone. David and I recap the first-round of the 2018 NFL Draft and go over several specific selections. We talk a lot about what the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens both did Thursday night. David and I finally get around to talking about the Steelers decision to draft former Virginia Tech safety Terrell Edmunds in the first-round with the 28th overall selection. We go over the reach factor with his selection and if Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert might have too many boxes for prospects to check at this point in his career. We move on to talk more about Edmunds as a player and how the Steelers might ultimately use him out of the chute during his rookie season. Day-two of the draft will get underway Friday night so David and I go over potential position targets for the Steelers in addition to several players they might decide to pick with their currently scheduled three selections. David and I discuss a few major media mock drafts that have included the Pittsburgh Steelers selecting a cornerback in the first-round and why we struggle with those. We also rank the least-likeliest positional needs the Steelers have entering this year’s draft. This time it’s David’s turn to give Harrison his place in Steelers lore and him potentially winding up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Steelers cornerback Joe Haden met the media on Thursday and had quite a few interesting things to say regarding the offseason rebuilding of the secondary and what all went wrong in the playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. David and I attempt to parse a few of those comments. The Steelers 2018 regular season schedule was released on Thursday, so David and I take a little time out to recap it and the few things that stick out on it. Former Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison announced his retirement on Monday so Alex and I discuss that decision, a possible future relationship with the Steelers, and if he’ll ultimately be a serious candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After watching quite a bit of tape on edge-rushers Sam Hubbard and Uchenna Nwosu the last few days, I get Alex to discuss the two players with me and if the Steelers should have interest in either of them.
