Season 9, Episode 15 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Wednesday show, David Todd is back, and we start things off by talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers trading for wide receiver Ryan Switzer on Monday and what his addition means to the team. We talk about what kind of wide receiver Switzer is and isn’t based on his final season at North Carolina and how much we expect to see him play on offense for the Steelers during the first quarter of the regular season. With Switzer now in Pittsburgh will the team keep six wide receivers in total? Are both Justin Hunter and Darrius Heyward-Bey locks at this point? We move on to discuss some tough roster decisions awaiting the Steelers this weekend at the wide receiver, running back, punter and linebacker positions. The Steelers preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers will take place at Heinz Field Thursday night so David and I preview that contest in addition to talking about the main discussion points that came out of the Tuesday press conference given by head coach Mike Tomlin. Season 9, Episode 14 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora once again sits in for David Todd and we get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday preseason game against the Tennessee Titans. We go over the few injuries suffered in the third preseason game to start with and then proceed to discuss what stuck out to us offensively for the Steelers against the Titans. We go through every position group and let you know who we thought played well and who we thought didn’t. After a 30 minute discussion about the play of the Steelers offense on Saturday we move on to the defensive side of the football. There were thankfully quite a few positives to talk about both from an induvial play and overly scheme aspect so we try to touch on all areas. We talk about rookie inside linebacker Matthew Thomas playing some with the first-team unit against the Titans and spend a little extra time discussing the Steelers young outside linebackers. The Steelers might have a 54-man roster to work with for exactly one week so we go over how that situation might play out and which players might benefit from it. Do the Steelers have a punter battle with one preseason game remaining? Season 9, Episode 13 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, Alex Kozora once again sits in for David Todd and we get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers signing kicker Chris Boswell and inside linebacker Vince Williams to new contracts on Thursday. We go over what the early numbers related to both deals are and discuss the reasons and potential cap implications of both signings. While talking about Williams, Alex and I discuss his play to date and how he's likely top be used on defense in 2018. We compare his play to that of fellow inside linebacker Jon Bostic to date and go over what both excel at and need to work on. We also discuss rookie inside linebacker Matthew Thomas entering the final two preseason games and if there's any chance he sees the field on defense later during the regular season. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin previewed the team's Saturday preseason game against the Tennessee Titans during a Thursday press conference so we review what all he had to say about the health of the team and more. Season 9, Episode 12 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Wednesday show, David Todd and I get right to look at the Pittsburgh Steelers injury situation once again as the team prepares for their third preseason game Saturday at Heinz Field against the Tennessee Titans. This includes us recapping what Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert had to say during a Tuesday interview about the expected heath of the tight end group come the start of the regular season. Speaking of Colbert, David and I discuss what the main rubs on him will be after the 2018 season is over should the Steelers fail to make it to this year’s Super Bowl. In the second half of this episode David and I are joined once again by former Steelers defensive lineman Chris Hoke. Hoke updates us on how his post-football life is going and gives us his insight on what all goes into the preparation for the first two preseason games from a planning standpoint. Hoke shares his thoughts on this year’s Steelers defense with us in addition to a few other observations he has about the 2018 team. We also get him to name one strength and one weakness of Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler. Season 9, Episode 11 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I get right to look at the Pittsburgh Steelers injury situation entering this week. We talk some about tight end Vance McDonald and outside linebacker T.J. Watt both being sidelined most of training camp and much, much more. After reviewing several more emails we received from some of our female listeners, David and I focus on my recent contextualizations of the play of outside linebacker Bud Dupree and quarterback Joshua Dobbs against the Green Bay Packers Thursday night. My post really upset Dupree and so David and I discuss that aspect as well. David and I talk some about what the first two preseason games mean and how they're approached. We discuss a few of the questions related to that topic that we plan on asking former Steelers nose tackle Chris Hoke on Wednesday when he joins the show. Season 9, Episode 10 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and I get right to recapping the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday night preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers. We start with highlighting the play of running back James Conner and wide receiver James Washington Thursday night in Green Bay and from there talk a little bit more about the other running backs that played in the contest. The Steelers young quarterbacks were the main focal point Thursday night and we tell what we thought of the play of both Mason Rudolph and Joshua Dobbs throughout the game. We both wonder why there is still so much fuss about the possibility of not being able to retain Dobbs a few weeks from now. David and I wrap up our thoughts on the play of the Steelers offense Thursday night and then switch over to the defense. The defense actually played the run well Thursday night and the inside linebackers certainly played much better than they did in the preseason opener. We discuss the linebacker group as a whole and if the Steelers will ultimately add to that group this year after the final roster cuts are made. The Steelers real defensive weakness last night was their secondary and the unit's inability to contain scrambling quarterbacks and finish sacks. We discuss that in addition to talking about how the team's first-round select this year, safety Terrell Edmunds, played against the Packers. We also talk some about the hustle Thursday night of inside linebacker Matthew Thomas as well. We go over the special teams play Thursday night and how head coach Mike Tomlin was disappointed with the punting of one Jordan Berry.
