An outlaw teaches his son to shoot, but wanting more for the future of his son, he shares his plan to break away from the gang. There may not be much hope for the dad, but he wants to keep Billy out of trouble. Meanwhile, Marshall Lightening Jim and his sidekick guard the stage coach. The bad guys are foiled, but in an argument later, the dad is shot. He survives enough to let Jim know about his son. Can Jim help set the kid straight? Can Jim get to the kid in time? Jim needs a new stage coach driver, and Marlow needs a new gunman for the gang, which direction will the kid decide on going? Plenty of lies are told, but who is to be believed?

A cabbie feels like he’s being pushed around by a thug, so he takes his story to the cops where Casey happens to be hanging out. Is the passenger a crook? Why would he be putting himself in a high profile, instead of laying low? Word comes in about the murder of a theater manager, and Casey joins the investigation. A suspect is quickly identified, and it’s the tough guy in the cab, who conveniently has set up his alibi. Do the cops have the right man or not? At the Blue Note, Casey reviews details of the case with Ethylbert and Ann. There’s something missing in the details so it’s back to the cops to figure out what doesn’t add up. The tough guy in the cab, Morris, is clearly setting up an alibi for the real killer. Fortunately, Casey has a plan, a corny one to be sure, but it just might work. He lays out a plan to make the players think their partner is betraying the other. Will Morris crack first, or his gal Betty? In the Blue Note, Casey shares how love and jealousy can work for the cause of justice.

It’s afternoon in the small house halfway up the next block and we find Victor Gook arriving home in the kitchen. Rush stops him to talk about his party, and how Sade took charge of the event. vic sees the wisdom in the shift of power, but lets Rush tell about his plans for a bang up time. It could have ben the social funcion of the era. A real gala. Rush shares his prediction of Sade’s party, convesation, ice cream, more talk and and go home. Can Rush convince Vic to b enthusiastic in changing Sade mind? Might Vic get her to release the reins of power back to Rush? The secret plans are shared. A doctor and medical staff will be on hand in case of emergency. Rush foresees the news stories to report on the extravagant party. In case the party spirit sags, Rush plans to phone the fire department. Everybody likes to watch the firemen in action. Fortunately Vic shows Rush the error in that decision. Of course there will be a policeman on duty, for security purposes. And for the big social stunt, everybody will get tatooed. I think Vic is convinced about having Sade be in charge of the party, but I predict that Rush will be disappointed.

The life of Philbert Harris is a little too close for comfort for Phil Harris, who takes offense at the peek into his private life. The artsy Cynthia has been appealing to Frankies artistic side. Is Frankie really a sculptor now? Only when the mood strikes. He promises bring the dame over to Phil’s place so the family can meet her. For now Phil sings, If You’re Ever Down in Texas Look Me Up. As promised, the snooty Cynthia makes her impression on the Harris family, with even Julius the grocery boy giving his opinion. Is she only after Frankie’s money… as if he had any? First impressions are far from love at first sight. Frankie sets up his models for sculpting. Cynthia as the caveman’s mate, and Phil as her caveman. Reluctant at first, Phil soon warms up to the skimpy leopard skin costume. Julius returns for the jokes about Phil’s jungle charisma. How does Cynthia look on the bear skin rug? For mood music Alice sings, Hurray for Love. In the closing moments, Alice saves the day to reveal that Cynthia is a poor choice for even Frankie.

Raymond Burr would later take on the starring role. A pair of privates feel they are owed something, since the unit is under staffed. When Captain Quince sets the hard working soldiers straight on their place in the unit, and priority of the Calvary’s mission, the platoon has more to deal with when they investigate homesteaders who have been killed in an Indian raid. If it’s true that it really was Indians, then who has just taken potshots at the men? Back in the fort, Captain Quince reports the Indians may be getting supplied with Henry repeating rifles from gun smugglers. Will the major allow him to proceed with a plan to put a quick stop to it? At a social event, Quince shares some of his back story with the major’s daughter. Learn how he came to be an officer and his service in the war as he talks to Miss Lawson. Going to visit Wild Dog, Quince and his right hand man, Sgt Gorce go in unarmed. Will they be able to get close to Yellow Knife, and the source of the repeating rifles? Though the importance of the repeaters is recognized, the major is forced to keep Army involvement out of it, in order to keep peace with the Indians, and with Yellow Knife. On patrol, the captain finds the white man who is behind the smuggling. His hands are tied in that his orders are to not harm Yellow Knife. Laying low as they watch the sale go down, private Boatwright and his pal volunteer to move in closer to be sure. Will this be a suicide mission for them? Their dedication sparks off the demand for the Cavalry to swoop in, not only to stop the transaction, but to rescue the privates… And if Yellow Knife is killed in the raid, well it’s a bonus. Being trapped in the wholesale house delivery truck with the missing bottle of nitroglycerine, Lum’s friends had tried to stop the vehicle. Today, Abner is worn out after chasing the truck all night. He tells Lum about his adventure, and that he never did catch up to the truck. Lum admits he never made it on the truck, and is busy in assuring everybody in town that he’s fine. Trying to phone the wholesale company, the phone is out of order, and Abner is sure the place has been blown up. Lum wants to send a telegram to bee sure that folks in the Bentley wholesaler are safe. Abner thinks a postcard would be cheaper, but it would take a lot longer to get there. To get the message right, the telegram operator takes down their message using phonetic spelling, which only confuses the gents. By the time they figure it out, and the message is relayed, grandpap enters with the big news. There has been a blowout in Mena. there won’t be any misunderstandings on his part in telling about the big event, will there?

A young, single couple is paired, and face the matchmaking skills of Groucho. Joe is a tour guide in primitive areas of Montana, and she is a sales clerk in Woolworth’s five and dime store. will Ruth be enticed by life on horseback? With hunting and fishing? They choose the topic, Stars and Hit Film of 1950. A high school principal and a housewife are teamed together. Is Groucho’s grammar up to par. How did she meet her husband? Their topic is, North American Rivers. A telephone operator is paired with a man with an unusual story. Gretta’s job takes a back seat to the old west outlaw. He gives an overview of his life of crime, going to prison, being pardoned, and going straight. Their topic is Nicknames of States. The grand prize has reset to $1500, but it’s still a nice chunk of change for 1951. Who will get a shot at it? Will somebody say the secret word?

Homicide detail. An 25 year old man has been hiding in a boxcar with the body of an unidentified woman. Joe Friday, and his partner Bill Lockwood interview Gordon. The young man seemed to be in shock, and is silent to the questions from the cops. Does he think the cops are out to frame him? Who was the woman, and how long did Gordon know her? Laying his cards on the table, Joe tells all that is known about the case thus far. All indications point to Gordon dragging her from the murder scene, into the boxcar, but did Gordon kill her? Bill phones in a report on the woman’s identification, but the new details on connecting Elizabeth to Gordon still isn’t enough to cause him to break silence. The pressure is on, and it doesn’t take much more for him to breakdown. Emotions explode, but Gordon calms down enough to recount his evening gone wrong. His music teacher of 10 years was the love of his life, she had a drinking problem, but who could have wanted to see her dead? Gordon’s attitude turns sour when the mention of his family is made. Did they have a reason to keep the couple separated? To add extra detail, Bill enters with one more clue, poison was found in her kitchen sink, and bags were packed. gordon’s family shows up to try to help. Will the influence of the dad solve his son’s dilemma? What light will be shed on the relationship? It had been Gordon’s dream of being a concert pianist, but nobody showed any encouragement besides Elizabeth. Was it false hope? The teacher was like a mother to Gordon. Who or what killed Elizabeth? just as importantly, what will become of Gordon?

The new atomic business has brought new dangers to Pine Ridge. Today, Lum burns up the party line to track down a missing bottle of nitroglycerine, while Abner complains about his bad luck. He’s sure that if it happens to anybody, it’ll be him who gets blown up. The gents re view the last times and places that old Dad was seen with the nitroglycerine. Dad being the real name of the St Bernard they thought was Cedric, after being transformed by a uranium accident. Reports of the missing dog continue to come in, and Lum heads to the junkyard. Lum catches a ride on the delivery truck, while Abner continues to make phone calls. When Cedric enters, he reports the bottle was put onto the delivery truck to the wholesale house. Can they stop it before it hits a good sized bump?
