A Pod of Their Own, Episode 65: Happy birthday to me, it’s the end of the Wilpon era | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4367

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing Steve Cohen’s impending approval by MLB owners and how Bill de Blasio is grandstanding over a technicality. We also referenced a piece that appeared in The New Yorker about Cohen’s company’s financial past and talked about Jeff Wilpon’s final Zoom call with his employees. Next, we have little sympathy for MLB owners crying poor, although ratings of the World Series have been down this season, despite compelling postseason storylines—Randy Arozarena, Clayton Kershaw, a wild Game 4 ending, and more. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 64: This is a Marcus Stroman stan account | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 5143

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing free agency and who the Mets should be in on this offseason, especially with the addition of Steve Cohen. We then discuss the news that should Cohen be approved he will invest heavily in analytics and he announced that he will continue to pay the workers who were affected by the pandemic.  Next, we again felt the need to talk about the difference between Marcus Stroman and Trevor Bauer since many folks on Twitter can’t figure out why we prefer one over the other. Bauer again harassed a woman on Twitter under the guise of “innocent fun” and the media continues to prop him up. Speaking of the media, Walker Buehler’s pants became a topic of discussion postgame and some in the media thought this was valid journalism. UnforMETable, Episode 42: Butch Huskey | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2600

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Butch Huskey was a promising power prospect in the Mets organization in the mid-90s. With a build to match his name and scouts comparing him to Mark McGwire, there were high hopes that Huskey would unlock that power for the Mets. A player without an obvious position on the diamond, Huskey had a solid 1997 season with the bat, with a personal highlight for him proudly sporting his #42 on Jackie Robinson Night at Shea Stadium on April 15, 1997. But Huskey never quite matched the heights some hoped he would reach, and he watched other prospects zip past him as the late 90s Mets climbed from obscurity to contention.
