Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the podcast from Amazin’ Avenue focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. First, celebrating the 120th anniversary of Frank Baum’s Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the team decides what characters they would keep for a baseball team in Promote, Extend, or Trade. After, Steve gives us an update on our adopted CPBL team, the Uni-President Lions, and our adopted KBO team, the LG Twins. Finally, the team shares a bunch of their favorite minor league memories. We don’t know if there is going to be a minor league season in 2020, and regardless if there is one or not, the minor leagues will look very different in 2021.  UnforMETable, Episode 36: Darren Reed | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1753

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. When the Mets acquired Darren Reed from the Yankees in the 1987 offseason, one could reasonably have hoped the organization had pulled another coup along the lines of acquiring David Cone for Ed Hearn. The young prospect made a quick impression in the team’s first spring training in Port St. Lucie—beginning a string of impressive springs that let Ralph Kiner to refer to him as Mr. March. Despite his memorable March exploits over several seasons, Reed never could crack the depth chart of the Mets impressive late 80s outfield before injuries began to chip away at his once promising future.
