 ACAB Radio - Episode 16 - With Derrick Broze | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:01:29

ACAB Radio is a police accountability podcast that is broadcast LIVE every Tuesday on Facebook out of Las Vegas by 2 local activists from Food Not Bombs Las Vegas and Nevada Cop Block. We're your hosts: Kelly "Special K" Patterson and Jay Lyfer. We focus primarily on local, national, and global police news stories that make headlines every week. We also discuss issues surrounding the homeless crisis here in the US and abroad. We cover these topics because it's something that we are all very passionate about, but we do talk about other stuff too. We hope you all enjoy the show! If you find value in our content please consider supporting our work... The #ACAB Radio Las Vegas Pirate Podcast Episode #16 with Special Guest Derrick Broze of the Conscious Resistance Network and who is currently conducting the Liberate Your Mind Tour. In addition, SoBelow a reggae band from Texas, whose members are also involved in the Free Your Mind Tour, was on hand for a live performance. On this show we discussed, among other things, the Sixth Annual Chalk the Police State Day festivities, a really sad and pathetic attempt by the Pretty Boys, a local group of wannabe Proud Boys, to put a stop to it by washing our chalk away. (Video: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1308442655925994 ) The main topic of discussion, however, was the fact that the LVMPD and District Attorney Steve Wolfson finally made it official and announced that they would be dropping the charges against Kenneth Lopera for the videotaped murder of Tashii Brown just over a year ago. They used a secretive grand jury to shift the blame from themselves and pretend that they tried to get a conviction. If you find value in our content please consider supporting our work... The #ACAB Radio Las Vegas Pirate Podcast Episode #12: On this show we welcomed Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. of the Black Panther Party Cubs in Chicago, Illinois onto the show as a guest. Chairman Fred is obviously the son of Fred Hampton Sr., the black panther party for self-defense chairman who was assassinated (along with Mark Clark) by the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation and Chicago Police Dept in 1969. Among other topics discussed during the interview were the importance of using the proper terms in relation to police violence rather than the sanitized and blame shifting verbiage employed by the police and media, the concerted efforts of the government and police to keep oppressed people from self organizing to end that oppression, and the co-option of successes by grassroots organizations to allow governments to claim credit for them.  ACAB Radio - Episode 9 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:55:30

We cover these topics because it's something that we are all very passionate about, but we do talk about other stuff too. We hope you all enjoy the show! If you find value in our content please consider supporting our work... This week on the ACAB Radio Podcast #9 we had an update on the situation regarding a grand jury's "review" of charges against LVMPD Officer Kenneth Lopera, who murdered Tashii Brown one year ago at The Venetian Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip. As has been reported previously, the Clark County District Attorney's Office and Lopera's Las Vegas Police Protective Association lawyers have continued to stall and delay the grand jury decision by continuing the case until June. Also, we discussed incidents in which members of independent media have been targeted for exclusion from the courtroom during cases involving police officers. In this particular instance, Nissa Tzun of the Forced Trajectory Project ( ForcedTrajectory.com ) and Families United 4 Justice ( FU4Jnetwork.org ) was thrown out of the courtroom based on the fact the dress she was wearing was sleevleess. This isn't the first (or only) arbitrary and selective enforcement of dress codes against observers in the courtroom, however it is a rarity and seems to for some odd reason only happen when cases involving police officers are being heard. Another topic of discussion involved the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's latest shooting. On May 12th, LVMPD Officer Ondre Wills shot Sommer Richards (contrary to what was said on the show she has not died, but potentially still could), who was holding a shovel and experiencing a mental health episode at the time. It was questioned whether shooting her was the only option to deal with the situation and how much of an imminent threat she really represented. Additional questions were raised about if shooting her seven times was excessive. Other topics included several "viral videos" making their way around the internets over the past week. Among these was a video of the San Antonio Police Department assaulting and falsely arresting a man who was legally filming them. Another video involved the beating and arrest of a woman on a beach in New Jersey who committed the dangerous, horrific "crime" of drinking a couple beers a few months before her 21st birthday. (Except that she didn't actually drink any of the beers.) In addition, a video of a police officer in Los Angeles using his car to knock a motorcyclist off his bike was discussed. If you find value in our content please consider supporting our work... The #ACAB Radio Las Vegas Pirate Podcast Episode #7: On this show we discussed the Mother's Day Vigil for Tashii Brown (and other families impacted by police violence) that Families United 4 Justice held at the Bellagio Las Vegas and the silent march from there to the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, where Tashii Brown was murdered by LVMPD Officer Kenneth Lopera on Mother's Day 2017. We also had a recap of the banner display that took place afterwards, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police response. As part of that larger discussion we also discussed the targeted arrests of local Black Panther Party members (including Jay Jackson) that happened prior to the start of the vigil. In addition, there were also several arrests of those involved in the banner unfurling. Full details of the Justice for Tashii Brown / 1st Year Mother's Day Vigil, banner display, and arrests have been posted at the Forced Trajectory Project's website - https://www.forcedtrajectory.com/blog/first-mother-s-day-vigil-for-tashii-brown Web-pages: www.patreon.com/acabradio www.acabradio.com www.nvcopblock.org www.foodnotbombslasvegas.org www.snlsnetwork.com - (Mirror) www.somenextlevelshit.com Follow, Like and Share: www.soundcloud.com/somenextlevelshit www.facebook.com/ACABradio www.facebook.com/NVCopBlock.org www.facebook.com/SomeNextLevelShit www.youtube.com/channel/UCLgCGpfqZkvGy7ZNyScT-tQ

 ACAB Radio - Episode 6 - With Nissa Tzun | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:05:47

We cover these topics because it's something that we are all very passionate about, but we do talk about other stuff too. We hope you all enjoy the show! If you find value in our content please consider supporting our work... On the sixth episode the ACAB Las Vegas Radio ( https://www.facebook.com/ACABradio/ ) weekly podcast, Nissa Tzun of the Forced Trajectory Project ( ForcedTrajectory.com ) and Families United 4 Justice ( FU4Jnetwork.org ) came on again as a guest. (She previously appeared on our third show: https://youtu.be/h0__1_5sMiw ) Among other things, we discussed the "Justice for Tashii Brown - 1st Year Mother's Day Vigil" (https://www.facebook.com/events/943016019208325/ ), which will take place on Sunday May 13th in front of the Bellagio Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip at 3pm (PST). As the title of the event indicates, this vigil commemorates one year since Tashii Brown was murdered by LVMPD Officer Kenneth Lopera at the Venetian Hotel early in the morning of Mother's Day 2017. (More info - https://nvcopblock.org/?s=tashii+brown ) Incidentally, the already inadequate charge of "Involuntary Manslaughter" that Lopera is facing for purposely choking Brown to death is currently under review by a grand jury that has the ability to vacate that indictment. After already having been postponed twice the grand jury's decision on whether to uphold those charges is now due May 24th. (More info - https://nvcopblock.org/173699/grand-jury-manslaughter-charge-lvmpd-officer-kenneth-lopera-tashii-farmer-brown-murder/ ) We also discussed the May Day Rally and March that took place the week prior. Several family members of the victims of police violence were in attendance that day. Also, Dominick Archibald spoke during the rally about the November 2015 murder of her son, Nathanial Pickett, by San Bernardino Sheriff's Deputy Kyle Woods in Barstow, Ca. (More info - https://nvcopblock.org/173919/victims-families-speak-impact-of-police-violence-las-vegas-may-day/ ) Another topic of discussion was the media's role in the cover-ups of police violence. In particular, this applies to the Las Vegas media and their unwillingness to question the police narrative during press conferences held by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and other local departments. One recent example of this was the case of Junior Lopez, who was shot by LVMPD Officers Rivera and Mills on April 6th. Not only was there glaring visual inconsistencies between the police descriptions of what led to that shooting and the body camera footage, but also claims by the family that that footage had been edited to remove even more conflicting evidence. However, during the press conference where that bodycam video was released not one question challenging that official story or pointing out those contradictions was asked by the media representatives present.  ACAB Radio - Episode 5 - With Lorenzo | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:47:59

The fifth episode of the ACAB Las Vegas Radio podcast was taped live (before a studio audience) on the morning of the 12th Annual May Day Rally and March in Las Vegas. Some of the topics of discussion included the origins of May Day dating back to the Haymarket Massacre that took place in 1886 during a protest advocating for an 8- hour work day in Chicago. Additional topics included why it is one of the few genuine anarchist holidays, some of the reasons it is so underappreciated and misunderstood within the United States, and why it is celebrated in virtually every other country across the world except here in the United States. During the second half of the show, we discussed the case of Tashii Farmer-Brown, who was murdered by LVMPD Officer Kenneth Lopera on Mother's Day in 2017. Further discussion involved the treatment of protesters (and others) who are arrested by the Las Vegas Metro police. As part of that larger discussion, we had a guest come on and talk about his own arrest and violent treatment at a protest shortly after Tashii Brown was murdered. He explained how a man had attacked a woman and attempted to pull out a knife while doing so. After he and others at the protest intervened to protect the woman, she along with those who had defended her were arrested. Meanwhile, the man who had attacked her was released without charges. In addition, as was formally announced at the May Day rally later that day Tashii Brown's mother, Trinita Farmer, will be holding a vigil and memorial to commemorate the passing of one year since Tashii was murdered. This will take place on Mother's Day (May 13th) at 3pm in front of the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, which is located on the Las Vegas Strip. Next week (May 8th) on episode six of ACAB Las Vegas Radio, we will have Nissa Tzun on as a guest to discuss the Mother's Day vigil and memorial for Tashii Brown in detail. Nissa, who also appeared as a guest on our third podcast (https://youtu.be/h0__1_5sMiw), works with the Forced Trajectory Project (ForcedTrajectory.com) and Families United 4 Justice (https://fu4j.org/), who are hosting the vigil.  ACAB Radio - Episode 4 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:09

We discussed the April 5th shooting of Junior Lopez by Officers Rivera and Mills of the LVMPD in Downtown Las Vegas. We went over some of the inconsistencies within the Body camera footage subsequently released by the LVMPD We also discussed claims Lopez' family have made that the audio on those bodycam videos was edited, as well as a case in which it has been proven that audio was in fact edited by the Boulder City Police Department on a dashcam video. Also, the way Metro misrepresented what happened during the traffic stop in which Lopez was shot at their press conference and within the the YouTube description was pointed out. After that, we discussed the sentence CopBlock Network Co-Founder Ademo Freeman recently received in Ohio on Marijuana-related charges. An article written by Deo Odolecki, which was reposted to the Nevada Cop Block (NVCopBlock.org) site, makes the point that Ohio is a state that recognizes the Medical use of cannabis and Ademo is a registered Medical Marijuana patient and therefore logically should be able to use marijuana for that purpose, even if he's registered in a different state (Colorado). Regardless of that argument though, the reality is that it's silly that anyone should spend even one minute in a cage over something as harmeless as pot. The real solution would be to END Marijuana Prohibition s altogethor and the prosecution of victimless crimes via The War On Drugs. There was also some discussion of controversial POLICE TACTICS and the tendency of the Thugs In Blue to side with, if not actively support, White supremacists and outright neo-nazi groups during protests. One example of this was a recent incident in Georgia in which people protesting against a White supremacist march were arrested for the "crime" of wearing Guy Fawkes Masks. There was also a report of an incident in which some members of Nevada Chalk Block stumbled upon a rather extensive graffiti crime scene in which chalk was used to write some sort of coded messages on the sidewalks of a local school. There was also evidence of people (presumably the same perpetrators) having committed HopScotch without a permit. Fortunately, all of this dangerous criminal behavior was documented with photographs so that #LtMikeWallace, the #LVMPD's graffiti expert, can launch an investigation and Nip It In The Bud before it gets any more out of hand. We also discuss issues surrounding the homeless crisis here in the US and abroad. We cover these topics because it's something that we are all very passionate about, but we do talk about other stuff too. We hope you all enjoy the show! If you find value in our content please consider supporting our work... On the third ACAB Radio Las Vegas podcast Nissa Tzun came on as a guest to discuss the Forced Trajectory Project and Families United 4 Justice. She also discussed some of her own background and how that led to her becoming involved with issues of police abuse and violence and supporting the families of the victims though those projects. The show was very good and informative. Hopefully, we will have Nissa and some of the people and families she works with on again, because an hour really just wasn't enough time to talk about everything she's doing and the impact it's making within the communities she works in.
