The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Special Edition – Day 1 AFC North Free Agency Recap | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:30

Free Agency kicked off today and the Bengals said goodbye to defensive end Michael Johnson who signed a long term deal in Tampa Bay. Also some other signings of note, the Browns have signed Andrew Hawkins to an offer sheet, a 4 year deal worth $12.2 million dollars. Yikes. Tackle Anthony Collins is making his visits with rumors that he could end up in Tampa Bay or possibly Washington with his former offensive coordinator Jay Gruden. On this episode we recapped the day that was around the AFC North. In this special episode: We welcome George Vogel to the Who-Dey Weekly podcast. George has been a sports anchor at Cincinnati's Channel 5 for many years and has seen the Bengals be spenders in free agency, and watched them stand pat. Find out what he thinks about the state of the offensive line. We also discuss the huge signings the Browns made today. Donte Whitner is now a Brown and potentially so is Andrew Hawkins. Hawk was offered a 4 years $12.2 million deal that the Bengals have 5 days to decide if they'll match the offer. The Browns just got a really expensive gunner. In 35 games with the Bengals, Hawkins had 995 receiving yards and 4 TD's. We hear from Neal Coolong from Behind the Steel Curtain to talk about the Steelers activity on Day 1 of Free agency. Last but not least we talked the impact Eugene Monroe's signing will have in Baltimore now that they've also shored up Dennis Pitta as well. We're LIVE for our regularly scheduled programming on Wednesday night with Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com so make sure you tune in or subscribe to the podcast so you don't miss any part of the show!  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 136 – Hitting the Bengals Beat with Paul Dehner | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:19:08

Last week it was the combine, this week its all about Free Agency. The Bengals chose not to tag either Anthony Collins or Michael Johnson. Will they sign both? Will both sign elsewhere? If you had to pick only one who would you sign? Those are the kinds of questions Bengals fans are asking today. Will they sign a free agent running back? A safety? Will they do ANYTHING in Free Agency? That has not been the Bengals M.O. the past few years. They've used the draft to built this roster and you can't argue with the results. I know that fans want playoff wins, but to be in the postseason three straight years is no small feat, considering where this franchise was. You don't win Super Bowls in March. In this week's show: This week we kick things off with our predictions for Saturday. Will the Bengals sign any players when the Free Agency period opens? Fresh off being promoted to the head writer covering the Bengals beat, Paul Dehner of the Cincinnati Enquirer joins us to talk about landing his dream job. Paul also drops his Bengals knowledge when it comes to Free Agency, the draft, the Red Rifle and The Crusader. We hear from the usual suspects on the phone, Fatal Content, John from Kentucky, Antoine in St. Louis and Kurt in North Carolina. We also gave shoutouts to the latest contributors and supporters of the podcast. Help support the podcast today over at patreon.com/whodeyweekly.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 135 – Reviewing the Combine | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 58:56

There is nothing like spending an entire weekend watching a bunch of dudes running around in tight spandex and muscle shirts, jumping, sprinting, lifting. In the words of Anthony Cozensa, "Creepy". Regardless the NFL Network put on a show this weekend when the annual NFL Scouting Combine took place in Indy. We saw the big names like Clowney, Manziel and Sammy Watkins all do their thing, solidfying themselves as first round picks. On this week's episode we break it down Bengals style. Which guys and which positions were noticeable this weekend? In this week's show: We start by welcoming the newest member of the Cincy Jungle staff, Jason Marcum, to the podcast. Jason spent most of the weekend reviewing the footage on the NFL Network and posting like CRAZY here at the Jungle. He had some good insights on the combine as well as free agency. One of those points being Jason Campbell. Would he be a good choice to bring in as a backup behind Andy Dalton? He had one of his best years in Oakland under Hue Jackson before breaking his collar bone leading to the biggest trade heist ever. We offer up our usual shoutouts, including a big congratulations to the Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner. It was announced today that Paul will be the head beat writer covering the Cincinnati Bengals. Congrats Paul! Fatal Content rings in again with his Question of the Night: "If you could trade for any coach in the NFL outside of Bill Belichick, who would you trade for?" Greg from Madeira also rings in with a great point. The Bengals are still in a position to draft the best player available, don't be surprised to see a WR in round 1. We also announced our newest campaign to support the podcast. Check it out today over at patreon.com/whodeyweekly. If you love the podcast content we produce each week, your help is much appreciated.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 134 – Committee of Running Backs | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:05:51

There has been a lot of talk over the past few weeks about some potential free agent running backs that will be on the market. We can all dream right? The two running backs for the Bengals in 2013 had an OK season. The Lawfirm and Giovani Bernard combined for 1,451 yards in 2013 but the sense amongst Bengals fans is that the running game struggled for most of the year. Should the Bengals look to upgrade this position in 2014? Are you comfortable with giving more of the workload to Bernard? Should the Bengals look to the draft for a bruiser like Carlos Hyde or a speed demon like De'Anthony Thomas? In this week's show: We start by taking a look at the year that was for the Bengals running backs in 2013. Did you know Benjarvus Green-Ellis actually increased his TD total from 2012? He rushed the ball nearly 300 yards less on 50 less carries though. Fatal Content, one of the biggest fans of the show, calls in with his Question of the Night: "Do you guys think that in your heart of hearts Margus Hunt can rightfully replace Michael Johnson? And if he went to another team and tore it up would you guys then regret not re-signing him?" What are your thoughts? Comment below! What is the role and future of Rex Burkhead? We got an email from Mike Smith, one of our podcast fans from across the pond asking about the NFL putting a franchise in London. We wrapped the episode with a phone call from Kurt talking about some of the big name free agents on the market and a few of the running backs in this year's draft class. Which running back (free agent or draft) would you most like to see in a Bengals uniform in 2014?  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 133 – The Left Tackle Conundrum | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 46:37

The Bengals face an interesting next few months of the offseason. What do they do with Michael Johnson? What do they do with Anthony Collins? What do they do with Andrew Whitworth? These are the difficult decisions this coaching staff and front office face. I think we've all pretty much come to the conclusion that Michael Johnson is a goner in free agency. My guess is that he'll command some big time money on the market. The Bengals though have planned ahead at that position, drafting Margus Hunt a year ago was a clear indication they were anticipating this very thing. The bigger question though is what to do at left tackle? Do they keep Whitworth at tackle, a position he stated this week he preferred? Do they move him inside and sign Anthony Collins to an extension? Maybe the answer lies in free agency? The draft? It's a guessing game, and we try to figure out the Bengals best option on this episode of Who-Dey Weekly In this week's show: We start by taking a look at the comments made by Andrew Whitworth, stating his preference to remain at left tackle. Where is his best fit NOW? A few phone calls led to a discussion on free agency and the draft, particularly for the defense. The sample size of Anthony Collins is very small, only 7 starts in 2013, but to his credit he played well in those 7 starts. Should the Bengals show him the money? Will another team in the NFL? We capped the episode with a discussion on Leon Hall's recovery. All signs are pointing up for Hall and he may just be ready for September ball. We also think that there's a strong indication that come May the Bengals will take a CB in the first round. Which position do you think they'll take in Round 1? Send us your emails or comment below. If you have a few moments, please help us find out more about our audience by filling out this survey. Click here to take the survey. Thank you to everyone so far who has left us feedback.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 132 – What’s Missing from this Bengals Equation? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:02

How about the Subpar Bowl on Sunday night? At least the commercials were good..... So the Broncos didn't have their best game Sunday night against the Seahawks. If that was a best of 3 series though I wonder which team would prevail. Seattle played one of the best football games I've ever seen on Sunday night. Their defense was suffocating, ferocious hits across the field and they were opportunistic. It was a sight to see. In the meantime on the Bengals and Who-Dey Weekly front, last week's episode surpassed the all time downloads record for one episode. Thank you to everyone who downloaded the show this past week and I hope that you continue to stick around throughout the offseason as we keep bringing you weekly Bengals content. Now, on to the show! In this week's show: This week we lead off the show talking about the Super Bowl. Could the Bengals have fared differently against THAT Seahawks team Sunday night? Pete Carroll was a joke in the NFL in the 90's. Then he went out to the left coast and started building a dynasty. He's now taken the Seattle Seahawks to the top of the NFL, and they're the youngest team in this year's postseason. Could Pete Carroll take this Bengals roster and win a Super Bowl? If not him who else? What's currently missing from this Bengals equation? We love shouting out to fans of the show so if you want to be shouted out just get in touch. We read a listener email about what he would do in the instance the Bengals would make it to the Super Bowl. We also read an iTunes review from Norway. We capped the episode with Mickey quizzing me about the Bengals free agents compared to some of the other free agent players who will be on the market. Which of the mentioned UFA's would be upgrades for the Bengals? If you have a few moments, please help us find out more about our audience by filling out this survey. Click here to take the survey. Thank you to everyone so far who has left us feedback. It is appreciated and we are LISTENING!  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 131 – Top 3 Position Groups Needing Upgrades | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:07:03

It's getting tougher and tougher for me to watch the Super Bowl coverage this week knowing the Bengals had a team that could have been playing on Sunday. Instead I'll be watching from my couch, chowing down on some chips and dip. I used to have a Super Bowl ritual. I'd go to the store on Saturday, find me the thickest steak I could buy and on Sunday I'd broil it up for the big game. I think the last Super Bowl I did that for was Super Bowl XLIII Steelers vs Cardinals back in 2009. Maybe my tradition died when Santonio Holmes supposedly got two feet down in the endzone. I'm still not convinced. I'm thinking though that now that my kids are 5, maybe it's time to start that tradition back up again. Do you have any Super Bowl watching traditions? Do you go to the same party each year? Hang out with the same group of friends? Anyone else think Monday should be a National Holiday? In this week's show: This week we lead off the show talking about the highly anticipated Pro Bowl. Did you know they played the Pro Bowl already? We discussed the new format and how it pitted teammates like Vontaze Burfict and AJ Green against one another. You think AJ was afraid to go across the middle? We discuss our 2013 Season Awards which you can personally vote on here. Anthony, Mickey, Timm and I gave our lists for our Top 3 position groups that need upgrading in the offseason either through Free Agency or the draft. If you had to rank the top 3 where would you go? Comment below. Last but not least we talk a little bit about the Super Bowl and give our score predictions. If you have a few moments, please help us find out more about our audience by filling out this survey. Click here to take the survey. Thank you to everyone so far who has left us feedback.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 130 – 25 Years is a Long Time | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:04:31

Do you remember where you were January 22, 1989? I sure do. I was 2nd grader in Cincinnati, OH watching Joe Montana drive down the field in Super Bowl XXIII. The mental images of John Taylor catching the slant pass in the endzone still hurt. I can't believe it's been 25 years. In those 25 years since the Bengals played in the Super Bowl the have just 6 postseason appearances. The 90's were a very rough decade for this franchise to say the least. I'm still having a hard time grasping the 25 years. My children aren't too far from the age I was when they last played in the Super Bowl. The good news is that this current Bengals team is a lot closer to the 88 Bengals than we give them credit for. Yes we know there are issues with this roster, but they aren't THAT far off. Let's hope another solid offseason can keep this window of opportunity open for just a while longer. In this week's show: This week we lead off the show welcoming in our old friend and one of the originals here on the podcast, Mr. Timm Bates. We look back at the 25 years and share our memories of that awful night in Miami where the 49ers knocked off our Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII. Marvin Lewis says today that the Bengals are rebooting the reboot. Anthony fills us in on his trip to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in sunny Los Angeles. Last but not least we talk a little bit about the draft and whether or not AJ McCarron is making the right choice skipping the Senior Bowl. Help us find out more about our audience by filling out this survey. Click here to take the survey.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 129 – Coordinated Changes | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:20:42

Well Who-Dey Weekly fans, we heard the feedback LOUD and clear. You want the show to keep going throughout the offseason! It's feedback like that that helps determine the route we take with this show about our beloved Cincinnati Bengals. So we'll keep bringing you the weekly show as long as you folks want it. We want more of your feedback though, what can we do to improve the show? What do you like best about our show? We're glad you're enjoying the podcast and really happy to be bringing the Bengals community together each and every week. It's been a busy week since we last spoke on the podcast, some changes have been made to the coaching staff. My guess is we'll discuss that during this week's show. Just a hunch. In this week's show: This week we lead off the show talking about the latest Bengals news beginning where we left off last week. Jay Gruden was chosen to take over the Washington Redskins last week, how does this affect the offense? Is it such a bad thing that he left? They replaced Gruden with running backs coach Hue Jackson. Some feel that this move may give the quarterback the kick in the rear he needs to get going in big games. Today the news was announced that Mike Zimmer would be taking over the Minnesota Vikings. Without hesitation the Bengals promoted Paul Guenther from Linebackers Coach to Defensive Coordinator. Guenther will be a first time play caller in this league, are you apprehensive about this choice? Last but not least we talk a little bit about the draft as our very own Anthony Cosenza and Mickey Mentzer will be enjoying the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl this weekend from sunny California. And as always we took a lot of calls from Bengals fans around the US to help them vent and get everything off their chest. If you have a few moments, help us find out more about our audience by filling out this survey. Click here to take the survey.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 128 – The Blame Game | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:38:44

Wow, that stunk. Let the offseason commence. This time there were no excuses, no blown out knees for our quarterback, no facing the team in back to back weeks, no playing a team on the road in a dome. No this one showed us a lot. It showed us that Marvin Lewis can't get it done in the BIG games, playoffs or not. A lot of the blame for this Sunday's game will be thrown at the feet of Andy Dalton, and probably rightly so. He turned the ball over and played like he forgot how to play football. It wasn't Dalton's fault that Giovani Bernard fumbled the ball in the red zone. It wasn't Andy Dalton's fault AJ Green dropped a pass at the 5 yard line to set them up for a score. Last I checked I didn't see Andy Dalton lining up at defensive tackle to help try and stop the run. No, it's a team game, coaches included. The lack of adjustments and the lack of a clutch or killer instinct with this team is missing. I don't know if the head ball coach has the ability to bring out this trait in this team. 0-5 certainly helps me make my case. In this week's show: This week we lead off the show talking about the Bengals 2nd half meltdown versus the San Diego Chargers. We debate on the coaching staff, is it time for a change? How much blame should Andy Dalton shoulder? This team lacks the clutch gene. We discuss the unlikelihood of Johnny Manziel in Bengal stripes. Nice to dream though. Could a backup quarterback like Mark Sanchez help Andy Dalton? We took a lot of calls from some angry passionate Bengals fans who had a lot to get off their chest. If you have a few moments, help us find out more about our audience by filling out this survey. Click here to take the survey.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Postgame vs Ravens | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 48:42

The Bengals capped off an undefeated home schedule in style beating Baltimore 34-17 and eliminated them from the postseason. When the dust finally settled in the AFC, New England won while the Dolphins choked in Miami. All that was left was for Kansas City Chiefs kicker Ryan Succup to hit a 41 yard field goal at the buzzer. Wide right. The Chargers went on to win in overtime eliminating the 8-8 Steelers. So, it's Freezer Bowl 2.0 this weekend as the Chargers come to Paul Brown Stadium for a Wild Card Weekend matchup in the Jungle! Don't forget, no Who-Dey Weekly this Wednesday night due to New Years Day and me traveling out of town.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 127 – Finish Strong | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:11:14

First and foremost we hope EVERYONE had an amazing Christmas with their families this week. The Bengals wrap up their home season when the Ravens visit Paul Brown Stadium this Sunday at 1 pm. There is still the potential that they could finish as the 2 seed in the AFC, there's also the potential that they could finish as low as the 4 seed. Either way, the Ravens are coming to town desperate for a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. In the meantime, the Bengals will be looking to finish 8-0 at home this year for the first time since 1988. AJ Green, Andy Dalton and Marvin Jones have the chance to break some franchise records as well this weekend. In this week's show: This week we lead off the show talking about the Bengals blowout win over the Minnesota Vikings. This team is a different beast at home at Paul Brown Stadium. How did Kevin Huber's replacement do vs the Vikings? We discuss the potential playoff scenarios and paths to the Super Bowl. As always we wrapped up the show with our Bold Predictions and Score Predictions. What are your bold predictions for Sunday's game? Leave them in the comments below.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Postgame vs Vikings | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 42:39

This Bengals team can now call themselves NFL record holders are tying an NFL mark of 40 or more points in 4 straight home games. The Bengals are in some good company in that group, the 2000 St. Louis Rams are one of the teams they tied, and those teams were great. Not only that, with Miami losing and then the Ravens getting CRUSHED at home by New England, the Bengals can now call themselves AFC North Champions! With the championship, Marvin Lewis becomes the first head coach in Bengals history to win the division 3 times. There's still a chance for the two seed if New England were to lose next weekend to Buffalo and the Bengals win against the Ravens next weekend in the regular season finale. Don't forget, no Who-Dey Weekly this Wednesday night due to Christmas but we are planning on doing the show Thursday night, December 26th at 9 PM ET. Hope to see you there!  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 126 – Just Win | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:13:41

Despite the Bengals ugly loss Sunday night to the Steelers, believe it or not they still have a chance to win the 2 seed in the AFC playoffs. None of that really matters though unless the Bengals take care of business in the Jungle on Sunday when the Vikings come to town. The Vikings are coming off an impressive beat down of the Eagles over the weekend and are getting a healthy Adrian Peterson back. Let's hope that the poor tackling we've witnessed the past two weeks will get corrected quickly. In this week's show: This week we lead off the show talking about the slow start in Pittsburgh. Who's to blame? We discussed the incredible shot Kevin Huber took and discuss the awful officiating that's been going on around the NFL. The phone lines were ablaze this week with callers from all over talking about the loss and the no-call on Kevin Huber. We look ahead to the game against the Vikings and came to this stunning analysis, just win. As always we wrapped up the show with our Bold Predictions and Score Predictions. What are your bold predictions for Sunday's game? Leave them in the comments below. Don't forget to join us for our Postgame coverage immediately following Sunday's game against the Vikings.  The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Postgame vs Steelers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:33

That was ugly. You can't dig yourself a 24 point hole and expect to come out winners. Sunday night the Bengals got smacked in the face, literally by a Steelers team with nothing to lose. They played like the team heading into the playoffs. The good news for the Bengals is that they're still in the hunt for home field advantage. They're still in the hunt to win the AFC North. If they win out they can finish the year 11-5. Let's hope the guys can get the sour taste out of their mouth quickly and get re-focused for a big match up this Sunday in Paul Brown Stadium against the Vikings.
