My favorite week of every football season is Steelers week. My 2nd favorite week of every football season? The second time around against the Steelers! Nothing pumps me up more than watching the Black and Orange take on the Steelers. Whether its at Paul Brown Stadium or Hines Field, the games are epic, hard hitting sloberknockers and this version Sunday night has a ton at stake. The 9-4 Bengals made the AFC South champion Colts look ordinary last week and have a better than great chance of overtaking the Patriots for the 2 seed in the AFC. But regardless of that, let's hope that the Bengals can put the Steelers out of their 2013 misery and finish them off Sunday night, just like they did a year ago in the Steel City. Well the Bengals are turning Paul Brown Stadium into "The Jungle" again for visiting opponents! The Bengals moved to 6-0 on the year at home and Sunday marked the third straight home game the Bengals have scored 40 or more points. Cincinnati nearly got some help from Minnesota and Cleveland on Sunday but couldn't hold on. Regardless, it was one of the most memorable NFL Sunday's ever. The 90 combined touchdowns in one day is a new NFL record, and Matt Prater's 64 yard field goal is the new NFL record for longest field goal, EVER. What a fun day Sunday was. The stage is set, a huge AFC match up this Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium as the Bengals play host to the AFC South leaders the Indianapolis Colts. On this week's show we discussed the Colts and how their 8-4 season doesn't seem all that great when you look at the numbers. It's easy to go 8-4 when you're in a division with the Texans, the Titans, and the Jaguars. Home losses to St. Louis (a 30 point loss I might add) and on the road in Arizona (ugly), I'm not sure what to make of this team. Either way the game on Sunday will be a cold one as it sounds like SNOW is in the forecast. Bundle up Bengals fans! This week the Bengals notched their third win in a row on the West Coast with a 17-10 win over the San Diego Chargers. With the win, the Bengals kept pace with the top dogs in the AFC. They are now 8-4 with a huge match up ahead with the Indianapolis Colts in the Jungle this Sunday! If the season were to end today, the Bengals would be hosting the 9-3 Chiefs. I know I know, we said we weren't going to have an episode this week, well we couldn't resist! We had to do a show, especially after watching the Chargers knock off the Chiefs this past Sunday. The Bengals are coming off their bye week and will be heading out to San Diego this week for a big AFC match up. It's not necessarily a must win game, but its a big game that the Bengals SHOULD win. Despite crawling out of a 13-0 deficit, a win is a win and the Bengals now find themselves at 7-4 heading into their bye week with a nice 2.5 game cushion on the rest of the division. Hopefully the Bengals players, and coaching staff will spend the week off recharging their batteries to allow themselves to bring on a renewed focus as they head down the homestretch of the 2013 season. Now historically the team does not do well following byes in the Marvin Lewis era. With that said, Marvin used to be awful at challenges too. But he's been perfect so far in 2013 and maybe this bye week stat can be turned around as well. The Bengals will head to San Diego next weekend to take on a Chargers team that shouldn't be taken lightly. It certainly didn't start off pretty on Sunday for the Bengals. Joe Haden's 2nd interception of Andy Dalton gave the Browns a 13-0 lead. However, the Bengals roared back in the 2nd quarter by scoring a franchise best 31 points. Two defense/special teams TD's and two Andy Dalton touchdown passes capped off by a Mike Nugent field goal. Statistically Andy Dalton's day wasn't great, he still had 3 TD passes but the two interceptions were awful. Fortunately for Bengals fans the defense saved the day. They forced Browns QB Jason Campbell to checkdown to his tight end's or running back's all day. A win going into their bye was just what the doctor ordered. Now lets hope they can get healthy soon! The Bengals are currently enduring their first losing streak of the season after losing a tough one to Baltimore in overtime on Sunday. To be fair, they really had no business getting the game into overtime. However, after Andy Dalton's Hail Mary touchdown pass, the Bengals missed a golden opportunity in overtime to walk out of Baltimore with a win. Instead they sit 6-4 and still in first place with 2nd place Cleveland coming to town on Sunday. Let's hope the Bengals can end this streak on Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium! The Bengals are experiencing their first and hopefully only losing streak of the 2013 season after losing 20-17 in OT today to the Baltimore Ravens. The fact the Bengals made it to OT was a miracle in itself as Andy Dalton completes a Hail Mary at the end of regulation to AJ Green. The Bengals had their opporunity in overtime but couldn't convert a big 4th down. The Ravens squeak out a win after Joe Flacco completes 20 passes for just 140 yards. The Bengals rough outing last week against the Dolphins hurt them only marginally in the standings but it hurt them big time in the morale category. It was not a good week at all to be a Bengals fan. Despite the loss, the Bengals still had a fighting chance to win that ballgame, a couple breaks here and there, you're looking at 7-2. The loss of Geno Atkins for the year is a big blow, but we'll see just how resilient this team is heading into two big AFC North games against Baltimore and Cleveland. The Bengals took one on the chin Thursday night against the Dolphins, losing in overtime, on a safety. Not only that, they lost their best defender Geno Atkins for the year with a torn ACL. The good news? The Bengals still have a 2 game lead in the AFC North. Well the Bengals haven't had a lopsided win like that in a REALLY long time. The last one I can remember was a Chicago game in 2009, coincidentally the last year the Bengals won the division???? Steve Kinney has been a lifelong Bengals fan. His family was living in Ohio when the franchise was born in 1968. They then moved all around the country until he finally settled in New Milford, CT. 45 long years later, Steve is FINALLY going to witness a Bengals game in person from the comforts of Paul Brown Stadium this weekend as they take on the Jets. All thanks to an amazing gift from his son Brian. Do you remember your first Bengals game? My first game was at Cinergy Field, also known as Riverfront Stadium, in 1997 for the season opener against Arizona.
