   There are more and more “-isms” thrown at us every day, but nobody seems to be taking the time to define exactly what capitalism, socialism, communism or any of these multiple “-isms” even mean, or how they are being applied today.     Throughout history and in contemporary society, here in the United States, we have been living with a variety of prejudices. Racism, sexism, anti-semitism, ablism, and homophobia to name a few. These prejudices are ingrained in the culture of the United States. They are built into our social institutions. We can find evidence of prejudice in religious practices, in local, state and federal law, in electoral politics, in the media and in education.   We have all grown up being conditioned by messages from these institutions about how to see each other, how to relate to one another, and how to see ourselves .Think of an example of prejudice that is commonly communicated to us through our social environment.   How do you know the idea is an example of prejudice? What is negative about it? How is it a generalization? From what kind of source is this particular idea usually communicated? (News media? Neighborhood attitudes? Local laws? Other ways?)

Tonights broadcast is dedicated In Loving Memory of : Army Cpl. Patrick R. Glennon of Rochester, will be buried on Friday , May 11 at Arlington National Cemetery. On November 1, 1950, Glennon & the G Company, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, were holding a defensive position along the Nammyon River near Unsan, North Korea, when they were attacked by Chinese forces. Glennon was listed as MIA following the heavy fighting. In 2007, six bones recovered near Unsan, were handed over to the United States.Metal identification tags bearing Glennon's name, and other material evidence were included with the remains. Mitt is not a career politician. He has spent most of his life in the private sector, giving him intimate knowledge of how our economy works. But he has also been an outstanding public servant. In one chapter of his distinguished career, he reversed the decline of a state mired in recession. In another chapter, he salvaged the 2002 Winter Olympic Games from certain disaster. The Dove World Quran-burning controversy arose in July 2010, when Terry Jones, the pastor of the Christian Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, U.S., announced he would burn 200 Qurans on the 2010 anniversary of the September 11 attacks. He gained media coverage, resulting in international outrage over his plans and pleas from world leaders to cancel the event. In early September 2010, Jones cancelled and pledged never to burn a Quran. Jones's threat sparked protests in the Middle East and Asia, in which a total of 20 people were killed.Jones held a "trial of the Quran" on March 20, 2011 in his Gainesville church. Finding the scriptures guilty of "crimes against humanity," he burned it in the church sanctuary.Protesters in the northern Afghanistan city of Mazar-i-Sharif and elsewhere attacked the United Nations Assistance Mission, killing at least 30 people, including at least seven U.N. workers, and injuring at least 150 people.Jones disclaimed any responsibility. Norwegian, Swedish, Nepalese and Romanian nationals were among the UN workers killed.American news analysts criticized and blamed Hamid Karzai, president of Afghanistan, for drawing attention to the Quran burning. On March 31, Karzai publicly denounced the burning and asked for Terry Jones's arrest.   On October 27, 2011, Jones announced that he was running for President of the United States.He remarked that "I am not anywhere as intelligent as a Herman Cain...But as a I listened to the presidential candidates, they are not letting the American people know the condition that we are in.His platform calls for the deportation of all illegal immigrants, withdrawal of American troops abroad, and a reduction in bureaucracy and corporate tax rates. James David Manning is chief pastor at the ATLAH World Missionary Church on 123rd Street in New York City. Manning grew up in Red Springs, North Carolina, and has been at ATLAH since 1981. ATLAH stands for All The Land Anointed Holy, which is God’s name for Harlem.   Manning achieved some controversy in the 2008 presidential election after ATLAH posted several sermons of his that were harshly critical of Democratic candidate Barack Obama on the website YouTube. Among other accusations, he called Obama a “good house negro” in one sermon while in another he referred to Obama as “trash” due to his mixed race heritage and accused him of being a “pimp” and “long-legged macdaddy,” citing the viral video “I Got a Crush… on Obama”. He stated that Obama “has the cadence of an Islamic person,” and he called Obama’s mother “trash.” Manning defended his sermons in an interview on Fox News, saying that “we also have to talk about his character.” He further stated that God told him that Hillary Clinton would win the Democratic Primary and that Obama would not become the President. Manning illustrated how God showed him Hillary would win by revealing her card in the light.
