Tonight we have as our guest Dr Tara Palmatier, Psychologist and MRA, who will talk with us about misandry in the field of Psychology, the politics of the DSM and men in abusive relationships.  Dr. Palmatier has been active in the AVFM community for some time now hosting her own radio show for a time and has been featured on other AVFM radio shows.  We haven’t heard from her in a while though so we thought we would invite her to join us here at AVFM News and Activism.

Men Going Their Own Way. Are they a movement? Are they just a reaction to modern realities faced by men? Are they a bunch of losers that don’t want to grow up? Tonight we will be dedicating our show to the topic of MGTOW.  The subject of much debate in the manosphere lately, MGTOW has many faces and it can easily be said to have a different definition for every man going his own way.  Although MGTOWs and MRAs are not necessarily one and the same thing this will be a time to explore and discuss the concept of MGTOW and it’s place in our movement.  There is no doubt, however, that MGTOWs are an important component of what we do here at AVFM so please call in and discuss this very important topic with James and Bob.  The show starts at 8pm Central Time on May 28th.That’s 2am in London on May 29th.

Join us on Domestic Violence Revelations with Erin Pizzey, episode 2: Men, anger, and grief. Discussion will center around how men react to abuse and pain and grief, and how men process their emotions. Our special guest this week is noted men's scholar and psychotherapist Tom Golden, author of Swallowed by a Snake: the Gift of the Masculine Side of Healing and its followup The Way Men Heal. Recently I appeared on the Jake Pentland Show on Blog Talk Radio to discuss feminism and masculinity. It was an interesting discussion where Jake and I found a few points we agreed on, but was often interrupted by the shrill and irrational vomiting of bad ideas from the female nincompoops associated with his show. Still, I really enjoyed the experience, and it got me to thinking. What would it be like to talk to Jake Pentland 1 on 1 about feminism and manhood without the rude and ill-informed party crashing by the local femistasi? You can find out tomorrow, in a special episode of AVFM Radio. It will be Jake and I, no mute button, no high-pitched wailing and no Roseanne Bar.

Tonight we have as our guest Justin Vacula, atheist and blogger who is famous for his criticism of Athiesm+, a movement that purports to be about social justice coming from an atheist perspective, but in actuality is a feminist co-option scheme.  AVFM News interviewed Justin on Saturday the 18th during the Women in Secularism2 conference held in Washington D.C. which hosted many speakers Justin had criticized for their dogmatic views on gender and sexism in the atheist community.   We will be talking about the conference and the fallout from a highly controversial speech given by Ronald Lindsay, CEO of the Center for Inquiry, the organization that hosted the event Tonight is going to be a fun opportunity for atheists from both within and outside of the MRM to call in and discuss Atheism+, feminism and Vacula’s treatment of both.   The show starts at 8pm Central Time on May 21st. Tonight we have as our guest intactivist Gary Costanza.  Gary has done work with Intaction, a group that has done good work to bring to the public’s attention the atrocities being committed in Africa.  In March of this year they gained notoriety when they disrupted an event being attended by both Bill and Chelsea Clinton in which there was a heated exchange.  We will also be talking about the recently formed African Circumcision Advisory Committee and the launching of it’s new website.  Things are about to heat up around the circumcision issue as we take action and do ever more to bring much needed scrutiny to the circumcision campaign in Africa The show starts at 8pm Central Time on May 14th. Saturday 11 May 2013 marks the first episode of a new show to premiere here on A Voice for Men Radio: Domestic Violence Revelations with Erin Pizzey (and her co-host Dean Esmay). The show airs Saturday May 11th at 4:00 pm (1600) London, England time, 11am Eastern US time. This show will be live and will include call-ins. Erin will be available to answer your questions about domestic violence and abuse, child abuse, shelter/refuge programs, feminism and its influence on the domestic violence industry, and more. We will also feature a guest reading by Girl Writes What. We invite anyone with an interest in, or experience with, this subject to call in. Although the suggested theme for this week's show is "The Family Terrorist" (i.e. emotionally abusive and manipulated women, or men, who can terrorize and control an entire family), the format is pretty much open mic: if you want to talk about the subject of family abuse and violence, the mic will be open. We'll be talking and taking as many questions as we can, and we hope you can make it. Erin will be the show host, I'll be her co-host/facilitator, James Huff will be producing and doing the back end, and we may have a guest caller or two. Tomorrow night, Saturday, April 26, we will be airing a special episode of AVFM Radio, commemorating the life and work of Earl Silverman, the man who founded and operated the only refuge for battered men in Canada. Mr. Silverman committed suicide after the shelter, which was completely ignored by the Canadian Government, fell into hard economic times. While the circumstances and precise reasons for his decision are not known at this time, we do know that Earl had struggled for years to provide services to men who needed to escape violent relationships. He was first exposed to that violence when he was married to an abusive woman. He sought out help for that and found there was none. Against all odds and in spite of the fact that the Canadian government summarily rejected all of his requests for funding, he pushed ahead with plans and provided services to battered men out of his own pocket and with meager contributions from a largely uncaring society. Said one advocate today: "The fellow I was staying with in Calgary hung himself this morning. He had spent 20 years fighting the courts and agencies of government to have men recognized as victims of domestic abuse worthy of equal treatment by the courts and government. He was frustrated because no one seemed to care or do anything about it. In his own case, he was victimized first by his ex and later by a system that didn't care to hear him. No [one] wanted to help the battle.” His death has just been confirmed by the medical examiner to James Huff. AVFM Founder Paul Elam will be co-hosting the show with Operations Director James Huff. We will also be trying to bring you someone who knew Earl on a personal level and can give us much better insights into his work and his experiences in his final days.
