 Terrible Podcast - Episode 889 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3986

Season 7, Episode 121 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora sits in again for David Todd and we get right to talking about Pittsburgh Steelers rookie outside linebacker T.J. Watt and if he’ll have a legitimate chance at registering good enough numbers in 2017 to warrant him ultimately being considered for the Defensive Rookie Player of the Year award. After thoroughly discussing Watt, Alex and I turn our attention to the amount of times the Steelers defense dropped their outside linebackers last season and if the high number should be surprising and worth worrying about. How important are sacks when it comes to ultimately killing drives? We discuss that topic based on a recent study and go over the Steelers numbers from last season on both sides of the football. We also discuss what the career numbers of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger might currently be when it comes to him being able to extend drives after suffering a sack. In the second half of this show, Alex and I go over the Twitter poll results that I ran last week. We then close out this podcast by answering a slew of listener questions we received Monday morning from Twitter users. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post. Season 7, Episode 120 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, Alex Kozora sits in again for David Todd and we get right to recapping what took place during the Pittsburgh Steelers mandatory minicamp practices this past week. We also go over the one transaction the team made this past week during the opening segment. Several of the Steelers coaches talked to the media this past week so Alex and I focus specifically on what defensive coordinator Keith Butler had to say about schemes as well as what defensive backs coach Carnell Lake had to say about a few of his players. Alex and I then attempt to go over what we think we both learned about the Steelers rookies over the course of the team’s offseason practices as well as a few things we will look forward to examining once training camp gets underway late in July. We close this episode out by answering several more questions we received on Twitter from a few of our listeners. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 887 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3141

Season 7, Episode 119 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora sits in again for David Todd and we get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Penguins capturing another championship for the Steel City Sunday night in Nashville. After praising the Penguins, Alex and I turn our attention to the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare for their mandatory minicamp this week. We reset all the main storylines heading into this week before moving on to other topics. Does Steelers quarterback Landry Jones deserve to be ranked 14th overall on ESPN’s latest backup quarterbacks list? Only 16 were listed and Alex discuss which of the other 15 on the list we’d like to have in Pittsburgh instead of Jones. Former Steelers offensive lineman Willie Colon had an interesting quote about tight end Jesse James a few days ago so Alex and I dive into that topic. We also talk about what we expect out of James in 2017 as well as backup tight end Xavier Grimble. Is the Steelers current offensive line the best the franchise has ever had? Better yet, how does this year’s unit matchup to the 2005 version? Alex and I thoroughly discuss that topic late in the show. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 886 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3988

Season 7, Episode 118 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, Alex Kozora sits in again for David Todd and we get right to talking about a few Pittsburgh Steelers being very visible during the Pittsburgh Penguins Thursday night win over the Nashville Predators in the Stanley Cup Final. The Steelers wrapped up their annual OTA practices on Thursday so Alex and I attempt to recap the health of the team as they prepare for their mandatory minicamp. Tackle Alejandro Villanueva finally spoke to the media about his contract situation on Thursday so Alex and I spend a little more time talking about his unique situation and if he’ll ultimately take part in the team’s mandatory minicamp next week. We turn our attention to Steelers defensive tackle Daniel McCullers during the middle part of Fridays show being as he was running behind L.T. Walton at the nose tackle position some with starter Javon Hargrave sidelined at the beginning of the week. Steelers defensive line coach John Mitchell had some interesting words about McCullers that we make sure to recap. Would the Steelers be interested in signing Steve McLendon should he ultimately wind up being released by the New York Jets? We thoroughly explore that scenario. Alex wants to know who the hardest-hitting Steelers player is so we spend a few minutes discussing that topic. We also talk briefly about former Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams possibly perusing a wresting career. We wrap up this Friday show by answering quite a few questions we received from listeners on Twitter and the episode ends with a fishy twist. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 885 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3876

Season 7, Episode 117 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora sits in again for David Todd and we get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers final week of OTA practices that started with a team-building exercise. The Baltimore Ravens suffered another serious injury on Friday so Alex and I discuss what that means for them moving forward into the offseason. Steelers tackle Alejandro Villanueva and running back Le’Veon Bell seemed to be the focal point of a few Pro Football Talk articles over the weekend so Alex and I discuss why those topics are pretty much just meaningless offseason drivel. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger hasn’t been great on the road the last few seasons so Alex and I discuss that topic in addition to him not being great last season when using play-action. We move on to talk more in-depth about the Steelers wide receiver group and whether or not we’ll see a few more four wide receiver packages this year. We also discuss a few of the players on the bottom of the wide receiver depth chart and their chances of ultimately making the final 53-man roster. The Monday episode ends with my weekend interview with Steelers rookie outside linebacker Keion Adams, the teams seventh-round draft pick this year. Adams talks about his rookie camp and first two weeks of OTAs with the Steelers in addition to his college career at Western Michigan. If you are not already doing so, please follow Adams on Twitter at @civilSAVAGE1.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 884 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3666

Season 7, Episode 116 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, Alex Kozora sits in again for David Todd and we get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers newest safety Daimion Stafford, who was signed earlier this week. We tell you what we like the most about Stafford in addition to discussing his chances of making the final 53-man roster out of training camp. There are several odds and ends to wrap up following the Steelers second week of OTA practices and Alex attempt to do just that by starting off with an injury report. We also discuss what tackle Jerald Hawkins did during the offseason and the battle that awaits him later this summer. We move on to discuss the Steelers defensive line depth this year in addition to how many snaps we think Javon Hargrave might ultimately play. Alex and I have a nice debate about position flexibility and especially when it comes to the chances of outside linebacker Arthur Moats potentially making the 53-man roster this year. We wrap this show up by talking about the Baltimore Ravens losing cornerback Tavon Young to a torn ACL on Thursday. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 883 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4051

Season 7, Episode 115 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora sits in again for David Todd and we get right to looking ahead at what might transpire during the Pittsburgh Steelers second week of OTA practices that will get underway on Tuesday. Will running back Le'Veon Bell show up this week? Should he? We discuss that topic in addition to a few other things we hope to learn this coming week. Now that linebacker Vince Williams is set to become the team's starter inside, Alex and I discuss how his role on special teams is likely to diminish and who the team might turn to in order to fill his shoes. During the second half of this Memorial Day show, Alex and I answer quite a few listener questions that we received overnight on Twitter. There were several interesting questions this week and enough that it resulted in us running a little bit longer than an hour. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 882 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3786

Season 7, Episode 114 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, Alex Kozora sits in again for David Todd and we get right to recapping all that took place during the Pittsburgh Steelers first week of 2017 OTA practices. Alex and I review the five main things we were looking for heading in the Steelers OTAs in addition to talking about which players are currently dealing with injuries. We move on to talk a little about the cornerback depth chart based on reports from this past week and if it means much of anything at this point of the offseason. Former Steelers cornerback Justin Gilbert was suspended for four weeks on Thursday so we recap that news and move on to talk about what safety Mike Mitchell had to say during an interview a few days ago. Steelers tackle Jerald Hawkins is discussed during this episode and that leads to Alex and I speculating about what the second-team offensive line will look like at the start of the preseason. The NFL owners passed a few rules changes this past week so Alex and I review those and tell you whether or not we like them. A former NFL front office executive had some interesting comments about the Steelers backup quarterback situation during a Thursday radio interview so Alex and I reset that topic for you even through we’ve both yet to hear what he had to say. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 881 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3786

Season 7, Episode 113 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora sits in again for David Todd and we get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 OTA practices that are set to begin this week. Alex and I go over several things we hope to learn or see covered over the course of not only this week, but the next several weeks when it comes to different players. While David and I have already given our thoughts on the Steelers recent release of tight end Ladarius Green, Monday it’s Alex’s turn to offer up some of his thoughts on the transaction as well as the team bypassing the position during the 2017 NFL Draft. We have received a few requests on Twitter for us to discuss the rest of the Steelers tight end depth chart following Green’s release so we cover that topic during Monday’s show and spend a lot of time talking about Jesse James and where he currently is at in his development. Alex and I move on to talk about Steelers quarterback Joshua Dobbs following the several studies I have completed on his playing time at Tennessee and explain why we felt they needed to be done. We close this episode by discussing rookie outside linebacker T.J. Watt and the playing time we think he’ll receive during the 2017 season. This topic is in response to a recent NFL.com article dedicated to the subject. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 880 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3049

Season 7, Episode 112 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd kicks things off by talking about recent news related to him. The Pittsburgh Steelers released long snapper Greg Warren and tight end Ladarius Green with failed physical designations on Thursday so we spend the bulk of this episode discussing those two transactions and what may or may not have led to them happening. Did the Steelers bypass the tight end position during the draft because they thought Green was healthy enough to move forward with? We discuss that topic in addition to whether or not the team should now look to sign free agent tight end Gary Barnidge. Was the signing of Green now the worst free agent addition that general manager Kevin Colbert has ever made since he’s been with the Steelers? We discuss that topic thoroughly later in the show as well. We wrap up this show with a few other NFL news items. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 879 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:49:00

Season 7, Episode 112 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd is back in the co-host chair and we start things off by talking about the news and notes that came out of the Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 rookie minicamp that took place over the weekend. So far, the Steelers have signed two players who took part in the rookie minicamp on a tryout basis so we bring you up to speed on both. David and I discuss the potential of the team’s first three draft picks this year each playing more than 50% of the total defensive or offensive snaps during their rookie seasons and if it will be disappointment if they don’t. With Alex Kozora releasing his first 2017 53-man roster prediction Monday morning, David and I both his choices as we go through all the position groups. We close the show with some weekend items from around the rest of the NFL. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 878 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:00:30

Season 7, Episode 111 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, Alex Kozora sits in for David Todd once again and we open things up by talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 rookie minicamp as well as the full roster of players who are scheduled to participate in it this weekend. Alex and I attempt to identify a few of this year’s tryout players who have a shot at being signed to the 90-man roster after the rookie minicamp is over in addition to talking a little more about a few undrafted free agents who could possibly make some noise in the coming days. New Steelers quarterback Joshua Dobbs has been the focus of an ongoing study that I’m currently conducting so Alex and I go over a few things that have stuck out thus far while reviewing his third down incompletions from his 2016 season at Tennessee. We talk about why the study was necessary as well. Dobbs played behind several offensive line combinations last season at Tennessee as well so Alex and I review that situation that needs to be considered while reviewing his 2016 game tape. We make sure to catch everyone up on all the recent Steelers roster moves in this show and end the episode by answering a few listener questions that we received on Twitter. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 877 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:00:30

Season 7, Episode 110 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, Alex Kozora sits in for David Todd once again and we open things up with his new thoughts on a few of the players the Pittsburgh Steelers selected during the 2017 NFL Draft now that he's had a full week to explore them deeper. Alex and I spend a little extra time talking about wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and running back James Conner as it relates to a few key statistical areas from their college careers. The Steelers 2017 undrafted free agent class leaves a lot to be desired and Alex and I go over that topic in addition to talking a little about the offensive lineman the team signed on Friday. Last week I released my initial Steelers 53-man roster prediction for 2017 so Alex and I go through that position group by position group as he comments on areas he disagrees with me. That conversation is quite lengthy and it includes us talking about the chances of the team's initial 53-man roster including a player or two who is currently not in Pittsburgh. Alex and I close out this episode with a few minor Steelers-related nuggets. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 876 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:02:30

Season 7, Episode 109 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and continue talking a little more about the Pittsburgh Steelers 2017 draft class now that we’ve had some more time to study a few of their earlier selections more in-depth. We go over when we think a few of the drafted players might start contributing to the team during the 2017 season and if one of them might even be able to supplant wide receiver Antonio Brown as the team’s punt returner. We move on to discuss David’s recent interview with Tennessee defensive coordinator Bob Shoop that took place on his show. The Steelers waived quarterback Zach Mettenberger earlier in the week and that wasn’t a huge surprise all things considered. David and I talk briefly about if he’ll ever play a NFL snap again moving forward. David and I had yet to talk extensively about who the other three AFC North teams drafted over the weekend so we make sure to cover that topic during Friday’s show. We close this episode by talking about the two players the Steelers waived on Friday. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.
