Season 8, Episode 38 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Wednesday show, David Todd and I get right to talking more about Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant following the recent interview he had with Josina Anderson of ESPN. We discuss Bryant’s future with the team and what kind of punishment, if any, he might receive from head coach Mike Tomlin following his recent social media comments. We also talk about whether or not the Steelers offense will be able to get him more involved in the offense moving forward. We move on to talk a little about Steelers rookie wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and his role in the offense in addition to how he’s been a breath of fresh air this year during the team’s drama-filled first half of the season. Tomlin gave an injury update on Tuesday so David and I cover that list of players in addition to talking about what defensive end Stephon Tuitt said Tuesday night about the prospects of him playing Sunday night against the Detroit Lions. We go over a few more things Tomlin said on Tuesday in addition to covering what quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said during his weekly radio interview. After briefly giving some final thoughts on the Steelers Week 7 road win over the Cincinnati Bengals, David and I are joined once again by Dave Birkett, who covers the Lions for the Detroit Free Press. Dave gives us his insights on the upcoming Sunday night game between the Steelers and the Lions. We talk offense, defense and special teams with Dave, who also passes along some key injury updates to us. If you are not already doing so, please follow Dave on Twitter at @davebirkett and make sure to read his work online here: http://www.freep.com/sports/lions/ As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post. Season 8, Episode 37 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I get right to recapping the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday Week 7 home win over the Cincinnati Bengals. We start by going over the one injury the Steelers suffered during Sunday’s win and quickly go over the inactive list. David and I move on to fully break down the Steelers winning performance against the Bengals and that includes talking about the play of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the rest of the offense. We discuss the team’s offensive red zone woes and spend extra time going over the play call with 12 seconds remaining in the first half and the comments that Roethlisberger made about that after the game. The Steelers offense had short yardage problems on Sunday so David and I spend a little time talking about that phase. We make sure to address what the Bengals did right and wrong on both sides of the football on Sunday and save enough time to talk about the play of the Steelers defense after that unit allowed two first half touchdowns. We close this show out by talking more about the drama that wide receiver Martavis Bryant continues to create as he had some interesting things to say Sunday night on his social media accounts. Should Bryant be traded by the end of the month? Will he be traded? We discuss those two questions to close out this Monday show. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 947 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4401

Season 8, Episode 36 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and I get right to recapping what happened in the Thursday night game between the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs in addition to talking about what will happen in the AFC seeding should the Pittsburgh Steelers ultimately beat the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. David and I discuss how competitive games around the NFL seem to be so far this season and if overall quarterback play around the league has been lacking entering Week 7. David also throws out an interesting question concerning a choice of two future quarterbacks for the Steelers even though it’s unlikely to ultimately happen. We go over some Pro Football Focus defensive rankings during this show and also discuss the Steelers limited usage of man-coverage in their first six games of the regular season. The Steelers Thursday injury report shows that three players might be jeopardy of missing Sunday’s game against the Bengals so we recap that list ahead of the team’s Friday practice and talk about one key injury that Cincinnati is currently dealing with. The Steelers-Bengals game features quite a few interesting matchups that David and I go through and we break down those for you in addition to talking about what both teams might have to do on both sides of the football to win the game. As usual, David and I close out our Friday show with our picks of all the NFL games and that includes us picking the final score of the game between the Steelers and Bengals. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 946 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4426

Season 8, Episode 35 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Wednesday show, David Todd and I get right to recapping the health of the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of their Wednesday practice based on what head coach Mike Tomlin said during his Tuesday press conference. We talk about a few recent practice squad transactions that have taken place this week and if safety Jordan Dangerfield might be promoted to the 53-man roster come Saturday. David and I give our final thoughts on Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant and his reported request for a trade. We both agree that Bryant is highly unlikely to be dealt in the next two weeks. We move on to give our final thoughts on the Steelers play against the Kansas City Chiefs in that big Week 6 road win. That includes us looking at a few throws quarterback Ben Roethlisberger didn’t make in the game. We spend a little time talking about Steelers safety Mike Mitchell and his Sunday hit on Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. We discuss if Mitchell has a worthy rap sheet and why he seems to be the current whipping boy of the fan base. In the second half of this show we are joined once again by Paul Dehner Jr., who covers the Cincinnati Bengals for the Cincinnati Inquirer. Paul helps us preview Sunday’s game against the Steelers and Bengals and even gives us his early prediction. If you are not already doing so, please follow Paul on Twitter at @pauldehnerjr and read his work online here: http://www.cincinnati.com/staff/9573/paul-daugherty/ As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 945 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4706

Season 8, Episode 34 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I get right to recapping the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday road win over the previously unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs. We start walking through the game in this show and make sure to talk about the play of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and running back Le’Veon Bell on Sunday. We see if we can remember all of Roethlisberger’s incompletions in the game and discuss how the Steelers offense ran when an offensive lineman was on the move. The Steelers offense still has problems finishing drives and thus we talk about one of their failed red zone trips in addition to a few failed third down conversions. Sunday’s game featured quite a few bone-head plays by the Steelers so we discuss those and that includes the big penalty by safety Mike Mitchell to close out the third quarter. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid made a poor decision to not go for a field goal in the fourth quarter so we make sure to discuss that in addition to the Steelers defense giving up some big plays late. Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant apparently has asked to be traded so David and I close out this show with our thoughts on that topic. There’s a lot to cover in this podcast so please excuse us for running a little bit long. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 944 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4156

Season 8, Episode 33 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, Alex Kozora sits in for David Todd and we get right to looking at the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday injury report and what it might ultimately mean for Sunday’s road game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Steelers might have outside linebacker James Harrison and wide receiver Eli Rogers both back in helmets on Sunday and if ultimately happens, Alex and I discuss how both players might be used against the Chiefs. The Steelers loss in Week 5 to the Jacksonville Jaguars was ugly and Alex chimes in with his final thoughts of that game. We talk about whether or not the Steelers run defense ranking is a true reflection of what has happened through the first five weeks and also discuss the problems the Steelers offense has had to start the 2017 season. After finally getting the Steelers loss to Jaguars behind us, Alex and I move on to breaking down the Steelers Week 6 road game against the Chiefs. We discuss what the Steelers need to do on both sides of the football to win this game. Additionally, we talk about the health of the Chiefs entering Sundays game. Is Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith for real right now? We go over a few stats and rankings of his through the first five weeks of the season. Alex and I discuss what the next three games mean for the Steelers in addition to giving you our final score predictions for Sunday’s game. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode -943 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4021

Season 8, Episode 32 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Wednesday show, David Todd and I get right to giving our final thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and our concern level heading into the team’s Week 6 road game against the Kansas City Chiefs. We move on to talk more about what’s not right with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger so far this season and throw out a few changes on offense that could potentially get him back on track again. Steelers wide receiver Eli Rogers will likely return to the field on Sunday after being benched the last two games so David and I discuss how he and rookie wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster might ultimately be used on Sunday against the Chiefs. We wrap up the first segment by talking a little bit about what Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had to say during his Tuesday press conference and check in quickly with what the Cleveland Browns are currently doing at the quarterback position. In the second half of the show, David and I are joined once again by Adam Teicher, who covers the Chiefs for ESPN.com. As usual, we get the thoughts of our guest on the upcoming game and Adam gives his insights on the Chiefs offensive, defensive and special teams units along with what he things might happen Sunday in Kansas City. If you are not already doing so, pleased make sure to follow Adam on Twitter at @AdamTeicher and read his reports online here: http://www.espn.com/blog/kansas-city-chiefs As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 942 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4388

Season 8, Episode 31 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I get right to breaking down the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. We start things off by trying to break the Steelers 30-9 loss to the Jaguars into three game parts and go from there. We move on to talking about each of the five interceptions that Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw during Sunday’s game. The Steelers were 0-3 inside the red zone on Sunday and because of that, David and I look at the play calling deep inside the Jaguars end of the field and most notably during their sixth offensive possession of the game, their final one before Roethlisberger’s wheels came off. We talk about what we would like to see the Steelers offense do more of and less of moving forward into the season. We save some time to talk about the play of the Steelers defense on Sunday and how that unit’s wheels came off during the Jaguars first possession of the fourth quarter, which included that drive ending with a field goal after a long string of nothing but running plays. Should Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley be fired right now? What about if the Steelers lose their next three games before the bye week? We discuss both of those topics along with talking about where we both are right now on the “concern meter” entering Week 6. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 941 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4126

Season 8, Episode 30 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and I get right to giving our final thoughts on the mini drama the Pittsburgh Steelers had this past week that centered around the Sunday sideline antics of wide receiver Antonio Brown. The Steelers look like they’re a very healthy team right now ahead of their Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. We go over the team’s Thursday injury report and look at the possibility of the Steelers having all 22 intended starters on the field this Sunday for the first time since Week 2 of the 2014 season. We move on to give you a full breakdown and preview of the Steelers Sunday home game against the Jaguars. We look at how both defenses have played against the run this season. We also look at the way the Jaguars pass defense has played this season and what that may or may not mean for Brown on Sunday. We go over what the Jaguars do well on offense and what that unit will need to do Sunday at Heinz Field to give them a chance to win the game. We start closing out this Friday show with a quick recap of the Thursday night game between the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and that includes focusing in on some clock management issues that happened late in that contest. As usual, we close out this Friday show with our picks against the spread for all the Week 5 NFL games. Will the Steelers beat the Jaguars at home and cover the spread? We let you know by giving you our final score predictions. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 940 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4423

Season 8, Episode 29 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Wednesday show, David Todd and I get right to going over the Sunday sideline tantrum of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown. We discuss the comments quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, head coach Mike Tomlin and former safety Ryan Clark made on Tuesday about Brown’s actions and if they were warranted. We talk a little more about the play that got Brown fired up and if we’ll see it again in the near future with so much discussion about it right now. Tomlin didn’t give much of an injury recap on Tuesday during his weekly press conference but it was enough of one to allow David and I to look ahead to the team’s potential Week 5 inactive list. Will wide receiver Eli Rogers dress against the Jaguars after being inactive in Week 4? Will outside linebacker James Harrison be a healthy scratch this week? We discuss those topics. Rookie cornerback Cameron Sutton is currently on schedule to come off the team’s Reserve/Injured list after Week 8 so David and I take a peek ahead at which player might be at risk of losing his roster spot down the road. David and I address a lengthy email we received from a listener who had questions about the play of Roethlisberger and Tomlin’s coaching. We also discuss the chances of Roethlisberger retiring after the season is over. The Steelers will play the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5 so ahead of that game we have Ryan O'Halloran on the show to discuss the contest. Ryan covers the Jaguars for the Florida Times-Union and as usual we get his thoughts on Jacksonville’s offense, defense, special teams and injury situation ahead of Sunday’s game. If you are not already doing so, make sure to follow Ryan on Twitter at @ryanohalloran and read his work online at Jacksonville.com. We close this show out with some final thoughts on the Steelers 3-1 start and their win over the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 939 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4196

Season 8, Episode 28 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I get right to going over the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday road win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week4. Before we get to thoroughly breaking down Sunday’s win over the Ravens, however, we go over the Steelers pregame inactive list and talk about why outside linebacker James Harrison was on it and if we’ll see him on it again in future weeks. The Steelers got their running game on track Sunday against the Ravens so David and I talk about that in addition to the overall play of the offense. We talk about the key penalties the offense had and if too many runs were called on first downs throughout the game. We talk about Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger missing a wide-open Antonio Brown in the first half and break down that play. We also talk about how Roethlisberger is still having problems connecting with his deep passes and how the offense still isn’t in a rhythm. Outside of a few big runs allowed on Sunday, the Steelers defense played well against the Ravens. We discuss the solid play by inside linebacker Ryan Shazier and a few other players on Sunday and how the Ravens offense missed on a few key plays in the game. We close things out by taking an overall look at the 3-1 Steelers as they now prepare to host the Jacksonville Jaguars next Sunday at Heinz Field. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 938 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4577

Season 8, Episode 27 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, David Todd and I get right to going over the Pittsburgh Steelers injury report that was released on Friday. Will wide receiver Justin Hunter get a helmet this week? Will wide receiver Martavis Bryant be down? We discuss all those topics and try to predict the team’s seven inactives for Sunday’s road game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers Week 3 opponent, the Chicago Bears, were blown out by the Green Bay Packers Thursday night so we talk about that and how it makes last Sunday’s loss look even worse. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger talked this past week about the overtime coin-toss and how the plan was to let the Bears have the football first if they had been given the choice. We discuss that decision. We move on to talk about what else Roethlisberger had to say this past week and dig a little deeper into his passing distance stats so far this season. We toss around some math questions that hopefully a few of our listeners have thoughts on. In the middle of this Friday show we fully preview the Steelers Sunday game against the Ravens on both sides of the football for both teams. The Ravens figure to be without the services of one key defensive player on Sunday so we talk about how the Steelers offense should be able to exploit that. We talk about the Steelers rushing attack so far this season by personnel and what we think the offense needs to do Sunday to finally get on track. We end this Friday show the way we always do with our picks against the spread for all the Week 4 NFL games. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 937 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4416

Season 8, Episode 26 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Wednesday show, David Todd and I get right to reviewing more information that has surfaced concerning what happened Sunday during the National Anthem as well as the events that led up to it. We discuss the multiple press conferences the Pittsburgh Steelers have had since our Monday show and try to put a bow on the subject for now. After spending a good portion of his Tuesday press conference answer questions about what happened ahead of Sunday’s game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin finally delivered an injury status report so David and I spend a little time discussing the unhealthy players and their potential statuses for Sunday’s road game against the Baltimore Ravens. We move on to give some of our final thoughts on the Steelers Sunday loss to the Chicago Bears and that includes talking about the failure to stop the run. We also talk about the poor showing the Steelers offense had on Sunday and how quarterback Ben Roethlisberger might be forcing the football to wide receiver Antonio Brown a little too much. The Steelers offense has had a problem so far this season keeping themselves out of third and long situations so David and I discuss that topic and that includes throwing in a few stats. In the second half of the show we have our Tuesday interview with John Eisenberg, who covers the Ravens for the team’s official website. As usual, John gives us the current 411 on the Ravens and helps us preview Sunday’s game. He also gives us his prediction for the Week 4 game to close out the interview. If you are not already doing so, make sure to follow John on Twitter at @BMoreEisenberg and read his work online as well. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 936 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4951

Season 8, Episode 25 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Monday show, David Todd and I get right to reviewing the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday road loss to the Chicago Bears and we start with talking about the team’s controversial decision to not participate in the pre-game national anthem. We go over the comments made by Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin as to why the team decided not to participate in the national anthem and where all but one player was during it. We also talk about tackle Alejandro Villanueva and his decision to participate in the national anthem and if he “broke ranks” in doing so. We go over Tomlin’s comments on Villanueva’s decision in addition to what quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s and outside linebacker James Harrison’s thoughts on that subject. After thoroughly discussing what happened prior to the Steelers game against the Bears, David and I turn attention to what actually happened during the game. We discuss the blocked field goal at the end of the half for starters. We move on to discuss the rest of the game and that includes the play of both the offense and defense. We look closely at the play of Roethlisberger on Sunday in addition to how running back Le’Veon Bell performed on his 15 carries. As far as the play of the Steelers defense on Sunday goes, David and I discuss how that unit had a lot of problems stopping the Bears running game and especially when they ran outside zone stretch plays. We discuss the several missed tackles, poor angles and fills in-depth. We also make sure to go over what happened in overtime that led to the Bears winning the game. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.  Terrible Podcast - Episode 935 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4021

Season 8, Episode 24 of The Terrible Podcast is now up and in this Friday show, which we recorded Thursday night, David Todd and I get right to reviewing the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday injury report. We go over who we think will be in and out on Sunday against the Chicago Bears and who the team’s seven inactive players might be. We move on to give our full preview of the Steelers Week 3 game against the Bears and what we expect to see from both teams on both sides of the football. We discuss Bears quarterback Mike Glennon quite a bit and especially how he’s played so far during his career on third downs. The Bears have a few players returning this week so David and I go over that short list of players in addition to the few who are still dealing with injuries. In the second half of this show, David and I review a few of the main NFL talking points that are circulating the internet. We end this show by giving you all our Week 3 NFL picks against the spread and cap things off by predicting the outcome of the Steelers Sunday road game against the Bears. As always, several other smaller talking points are mixed in throughout the show that are not highlighted here in this post.
