 HMPC 0411 – Doomed | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 54:55

Here is the Hellmouth Podcast for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, Season 4 Episode 11 - Doomed. The sun is shining again in this episode, after what seemed like weeks of Bryan being a dark cloud on the podcast, the sun shines with doomed. Why? You'll have to listen to find out. Don't forget to check out the new podcast following the CW series Ringer which airs at 9pm eastern on Tuesday. The premier airs Tuesday 09.13.11. Check out the RingerCast (http://ringercast.com) as we react weekly to the new show. HMPC 0411 - Doomed * Hello and Welcome to the Hellmouth Podcast for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series Season 4 Episode 11 ‘Doomed’. * 2 Minute Buffy * We pick up right where we left off in Hush – Speechless. * Riley wants to know who or what Buffy is… Slayer comma The * Buffy already has a pretty good idea of who Riley is, one of the commandos. * They decide that they both need a little time to think about * Where do we go from here* * Then there is an earthquake, this isn’t going to end well for Buffy. * Xander and Spike argue about Spikes participation in the upkeep of their basement condo, or lack of participation. * Willow tells Buffy about the aftershock party and they agree to meet up later, for now Buffy is going to go see Giles. * Giles tries to calm Buffy down, assuring her that this is not a portent of the end of the world. She is overreacting simply because she died after the last earthquake. * There’s a seen with Forrest and Riley, Riley is trying to figure Buffy out, Forrest is a douche. Next scene. * Percy makes a random appearance at the party and calls Willow a nerd. She hasn’t been a nerd for a very long time. * Willow decides to be a squatter and lay down in a total strangers bed in the middle of a party and ends up in bed with a big dead body with a symbol carved in its chest. * The symbol on the corpses chest is a sign of an impending apocalypse… again! * I told you! Giles, I said, “end of the world,” and you’re all like pooh pooh, southern California, pooh pooh. * Three demons need three parts of a ritual to open the hellmouth. * The blood is one, bones make two and after a nice kicking of Giles butt, his talisman makes three. * Meanwhile Buffy and Riley keep bumping into each other. Riley keeps trying to reconcile with Buffy and make things work between them. Now that Buffy realizes that Riley is closer to her world of death and mayhem than she thought; she has decided to just walk away. She has done this before and it always end badly. * Besides, she has an apocalypse to deal with. * The scoobies and a very depressed Spike head to the Hellmouth to try and stop the ritual. * Hijinks Ensue and in the melee Spike finds out that he can fight demons. * The bad guys get dangerously close to opening the hellmouth. Buffy tells the scoobies and Spike to get out while the gettin’s good. * Riley shows up to help in the fight and when Buffy goes diving after the hellmouth, Riley snaps a clothesline to her belt to haul her back up. * The scoobies find out about Riley’s secret identity. * Buffy realizes that even though life is dangerous and sometimes people get hurt, that doesn’t mean she can’t have sex with Riley. * End Episode. * Missy’s Fun Facts from Down Under * "Doomed" is the first episode that we get to see what exactly happened to Sunnydale High from the explosion in Graduation Day (2). * Spike calls Xander a "poof" in this episode. Roughly translated, he's calling Xander gay, which would be appropriate seeing as Joss was uncertain of whether Xander or Willow would turn out to be gay. Up until now, there are numerous instances to support either one. * When Riley questions Spike, Spike fakes a bad Texan accent to avoid recognition. This is ironic, since when James Marsters(Spike) was originally auditioning, he gave Spike's character a Texan accent. The idea was rejected, and Spike ended up with his current accent.

Here is the Hellmouth Podcast for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, Season 4 Episode 8 - Pangs. Be sure to stick around after we say goodbye to hear Bryan's tribute to his favorite season 4 episode. One correction, I mis-spoke and said the pilgrims landed in the 1500's, it was actually the 1600's but my point still stands. - bryan HMPC 0408 “Pangs”  - Buffy The Vampire Slayer * Hello Sunnydale and welcome to the Hellmouth Podcast for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Series, Season 4 Episode 8 titled “Pangs” * 2-Minute Buffy * Angel is in Sunnydale keeping an eye on Buffy after his friend Doyle had a vision that she was in danger. * No imminent danger at the moment as Buffy, Willow and Anya watch Xander dig at the dedication of the new cultural center. * Buffy tells Willow that she is going to miss Thanksgiving this year. * Anya likes a good ritual sacrifice * Xander’s shovel is incredibly effective and after a moment of digging he collapses the ground underneath him releasing Hus the vengeance warrior and collecting a number of diseases. * If you were a Shumash Indian you would call this a win-win * Buffy decides to throw her own Thanksgiving dinner in spite of Willow’s reservations. * Xander is starting to really feel the effects of his ‘funny syphilis’ * Buffy and Willow inspect the murder scene of Professor Gerhardt who was murdered by the spirit of vengeance Hus. * Thus begins the dilemma or argument between Willow and Giles as to who is justified, who has been wronged and what to do to reconcile the current situation. * Angel offers Giles a lead to Father Gabriel who might have some information. * Buffy goes to check it out and finds the spirit Hus murdering Father Gabriel. * This spirit guy is up to no good. * Buffy, Giles, Willow, Xander and Anya are all at Giles apartment arguing about what to do with Hus when Spike shows up. * Spike is desperate and starving. * With nowhere else to go, he comes to the Scoobies for help. * There not in the best mood to help Spike but they have bigger things to worry about at the moment than staking him, dinner is almost ready. * It all comes to a head when the Shumas warriors attack the thanksgiving dinner. * Angel fights with the scoobies on the outside. * Buffy fights with Giles inside * Spike does his best impersonation of a pin cushion. * When the dust settles Angel sneaks away and the rest of them have Thanksgiving dinner… until Xander mentions to Buffy that Angel was in town. * Missy’s Fun Facts from Down Under * Angel and Giles suggest that the Chumash spirit, Hus, is seeking the strongest warrior. Dean Guerrero is briefly considered to be the one who is sought; guerrero is the Spanish word for warrior. * Pangs leads into our very 1st BtVS&Ats Crossover in which Buffy and Angel cross-over * Small Continuity Issue: Anya met Angel back in 'Doppelgangland' but has the line "This is Angel" suggesting this is the 1st time they've met. * This is the last time Xander and Angel share screentime. * Beginning with this episode there is no longer a wall mounted light to the right of Giles' front door. It has been replaced by a small arch topped window. * So let’s get to the disussion * The ‘previously on’ is entirely about Riley. * From the very beginning Buffy feels like she is being watched. Is this part of her Slayer senses, or is it part of her soul-mate-ness with Angel? * Angel is back in Sunnydale * Why is he here? * Why doesn’t he want Buffy to see him? * Is he putting the Scoobies in a horrible position revealing himself to them? * How does Angel know which dorm room is Buffy’s to lurk outside? * Willow and Angel’s conversation is great, first thing Willow asks is ‘are you evil again’ then she asks about Cordelia working for Angel. Angel wants to know who Riley is. * Xander thinks Angel is evil too * Angel realizes the Shumash will go after the strongest warrior

Here is the Hellmouth Podcast for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, Season 4 Episode 7 - The Initiative. Angie and Bryan are joined by another member of the Hellmouth Empire Crew, Bob. HMPC 0407 “The Initiative”  - Buffy The Vampire Slayer * Hello Sunnydale and welcome to the Hellmouth Podcast for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Series, Season 4 Episode 7 titled “The Initiative” * 2-Minute Buffy * Forrest and Riley are people watching or ‘hot girl’ watching in the cafeteria at school. * As Buffy wrestles with the frozen yogurt machine and loses, Forrest asks Riley what he thinks of her. * She’s kind of… I don’t know. Peculiar. * Buffy tells Giles and Xander that they will have to handle patrol tonight (looking for the soldier boys) because she is taking Willow to a party to try and help her get over the Oz blues. Then she leaves to find something slutty to wear. * Spike, having been tazed in the last episode wakes up to find himself in some kind of research facility. He is effectively a lab rat but an ill-tempered one. * He is convinced that Buffy has finally found government funding and has come after Spike. * Willow is still not quite adjusted to life without Daniel Ozbourne, Oz. He has withdrawn from school and made no attempt to contact her but she continues to *hold on – for one more day” hoping that he will soon return. They said that you’d never be able to work a Wilson Philips reference into a buffy recap. You are all witnesses. * Buffy criticizes professor walsh for being so callous towards a human being in pain. * Professor walsh likes her, Riley thinks she is a little peculiar. * Riley finally realizes that he likes Buffy when he hears Parker bastard talking ugly about her. Decides it is time to prepare his plan of attack for asking Buffy out. * Phase one of that attack is infiltrating behind enemy lines and meeting with Willow to find out more about Buffy. Willow is reluctant to help him assuming that his courting will end in one of them becoming a ‘broken, hollow, mockery of the human condition.’ * In the end she gives in and gives Riley ‘cheese’ * Spike escapes from the research lab and returns to Harmony’s lair. * Harmony is in no mood to take Spike back once she realizes that he is still obsessed with the Slayer. She kicks him out and Xander stumbles across Harmony burning all of Spikes things in a small clearing. * Xander and Harmony sissy fight for a while and Xander finds out that Spike is back. * At the party, in spite of all of Riley’s efforts to have a meaningful conversation with Buffy. In spite of all of Willow’s help. In spite of a surprisingly receptive Buffy, all Riley manages is cheese and an unfinished question. * Buffy leaves the party with Xander to go try and find Spike. * Then we get the big reveal of the episode, Riley, Graham and Forrest are the soldier boys. Part of a government organization for catching and experimenting on monsters. * Now Buffy and the soldier boys, the Initiative are all hunting Hostile 17 or as we lovingly refer to him – Spike. * Where is Spike you ask? Spike has tracked down Buffy’s dorm room and finds a dejected, sad Willow. * Spike is unable to bite Willow however, due to excruciating pain any time he gets close. * There is a humorous moment between Willow and Spike that with a little bit of work could have been a great commercial for an erectile dysfunction medication. Then Willow, tired of massaging Spikes… ego – get’s the jump on him and runs just as the initiative shows up to re-capture him. * Buffy shows up, hijinks ensue and in the cover of darkness, Spike escapes, Buffy runs off the Initiative and Willow is saved. * The next day Riley tries again to ask Buffy out on a date. She still seems receptive even if Riley is a little… peculiar. * End Episode * Missy’s Fun Facts from Down Under

HMPC 0406 “Wild At Heart”  - Buffy The Vampire Slayer * Hello Sunnydale and welcome to the Hellmouth Podcast for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Series, Season 4 Episode 6 titled “Wild At Heart” * 2-Minute Buffy * It’s only for a moment but he’s ladies (*ladies*) he’s back the big bad. Spike has returned to Sunnyda-ughzzzzugh * Spike gets zapped by the mysterious soldier boys and hauled away to begin this episode. It’s just a taste, just a teaser but it brings good tidings of great joy to all of those that have missed Spike during the spike drought of season 3. * Have I said Spike yet and mentioned he’s back? * The gang is hanging at the bronze tonight and when I say the gang I mean the ‘whole’ gang. Giles makes a rare bronze appearance which leads to some awkward conversation, like running into your school teacher in the bathroom at the movies or something. * Veruca and her band are performing and this time it isn’t just Oz but all three guys seem drawn to her… performance. * The next day at school, Buffy has done some smart work according to professor walsh which means that Willow is jealous and Buffy has to do more work to lead a discussion group. * Oz and Veruca run into each other on campus and quickly fall into musician-eese * Willow shows up and strangely feels like the third wheel even though Oz is her boyfriend. * Willow is becoming very frustrated with the Veruca and Oz dynamic but that night Willow has Wicca Orientation and Oz has the first of three nights as a werewolf so there is no time for a sit down discussion. * Werewolf Oz gets out of his cage and while chasing Professor Walsh across campus runs into a she-wolf. * The next morning we find out that the she-wolf was Veruca. * It appears that something happened between them last night, something that has Veruca very proud and Oz very confused and ashamed. * Veruca and Oz have very different views about what it means to be a werewolf and how to deal with it. * Buffy hears about the attack on professor Walsh and heads to Giles to get his help. Giles is eager to oblige and begins looking into if it could have in fact been werewolves. * Buffy tracks down Oz who is repairing his cage. They compare notes, it was him who was out last night, he didn’t hurt anyone, yet. * Oz calls Veruca to meet him that night at his newly repaired cage to try and prevent her from hurting anyone and to protect her because he knows that Buffy will be out hunting for her; at least that is the pretense under which he lures her to his cage. * Once there they do a little bit of the werewolf Monster-mash. * After some furry fluking of his own, in a callback to season 3. Oz wakes up to find Willow has discovered he and Veruca very naked, very together, very much her worst fear realized. * Willow confronts Oz about what happened. * She knew something was going on. * There were other options besides locking the two of them up together for the night. * In one of the most heartbreaking moments, Willow realizes that Oz wants Veruca more than he wants her. * Willow wanders blindly through town and is saved by Riley before she is hit by a car. * Buffy knows all she needs to and is not just patrolling for Veruca tonight, she is on the hunt. * Willow goes to one of the campus labs to cast some nasty voodoo on Oz and Veruca. * Oz helps Buffy find Veruca but the trail leads to a dead end in the forest. * Then they realize that veruca is after Willow. * On the way back to campus,
