The Incan people sacrificed their princess to the mountain god, Sabancaya, an offering buried alive for eternity in this dark tomb. The princess remained there protected only by a cursed seal. * The students all file past but it is Rodney, disposable Rodney, who lags behind to steal this seal that protects this Inca Mummy Girl. * Opening credits * Buffy and Giles are in the library training. Buffy is asking Giles for permission to go to the dance * Giles says no and Buffy proceeds to pound mercilessly on the pads Giles is holding. * Xander offers to drive Buffy to the dance with Willow and himself.  HMPC 0203 – School Hard | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 40:36

Here is the Hellmouth Podcast for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer Series, Season 2 Episode 3, titled "School Hard." In this episode... Spike and Drusilla arrive in Sunnydale Xander sings a jaunty tune and Buffy tries to survive parent-teacher night. HMPC 0203 – School Hard * Welcome to the Hellmouth Podcast for the Buffy The Vampire Slayer series Season 2 episode 3 “School Hard” * Remember to visit www.hellmouthpodcast.com (http://www.hellmouthpodcast.com/) * Updating almost daily, sometimes multiple times daily. * Hellmouth hotline * 1-888-818-8941 * A huge thanks to Kim over at Upsidedown and Halfway to Happyland, another Buffy related podcast. (AAC Card) * She played a promo for the Hellmouth Podcast in her newest episode that came out last week. * Kim and the group over there have been great and are much appreciated. * Even more big news for you guys. The Browncoats: Redemption podcast (AAC Card) is now up on itunes and on www.browncoatsmovie.com (http://www.browncoatsmovie.com/) * Episode opens with Principal Snyder giving a very demoralizing speech to Buffy and Sheila. * Snyder is putting the two of them in charge of parent-teacher night. * Buffy’s trouble label is a symptom of the fact that she is actually a hero. I’ll talk more about this as we go through the podcast. * Buffy leaves the meeting trying to work out a loose schedule with Sheila on when they are going to work on preparing for student-teacher night. * Turns out Sheila has been trouble pretty much her whole life according to Xander and Willow who have now joined Buffy. * Buffy makes the comment that being the slayer requires a certain amount of cutting, meaning classes, and fighting. * Xander says not to worry, things will go well as long as nothing bad happens until then you’ll be fine. * Next scene, something bad happens, Spike… William the Bloody… crashes through the Welcome to Sunnydale sign. * The group of vampires who survived after Buffy killed a bunch of them in When She Was Bad have assembled again with the anointed one. They have a new leader who is addressing the group. * The anointed one questions if this one anonymous vampire can do it. After about 10 seconds it is obvious that this is a red shirt vampire. * This weekend is the Night of St. Vigeous * And now we see Drusilla enter the warehouse. * She apparently has some type of power that is above and beyond normal vampires. * Spike dotes on Drusilla, he seems devoted to her. * Spike makes a deal with the anointed one and says he will kill the slayer if he will keep the flunkies off his back. * Spike asks if she (the slayer) is tough. * The next scene is Buffy saying “ow” as she brushes her hair, wearing pajamas with roses on them. Very girlie. * Buffy and her mom have a conversation about parent-teacher night, which Buffy had neglected to tell her mom about. * Joyce is obviously irritated that Buffy had not mentioned it. * Buffy is at school preparing banners for the parent-teacher conference. * Buffy is prepared to skip going to the Bronze in order to study until she remembers that Angel was probably going to be there tonight. * Giles and Jenny Calendar show up obviously in the middle of a discussion or argument. * Giles said that an extraneous lunar cycle was never mentioned in the chronicles. * Jenny – The order never accurately calculated the Mesopotamian calendar. * Snyder interrupts the banner painting. Giles and Ms. Calendar quickly exit. Snyder wants to know where Sheila is. * Sheila stumbles in looking hung-over. Buffy covers for her. * That night at the Bronze… * Spike is at the Bronze and is kind of stalking the group from the shadows, observing Buffy. * He tells one of the vampire flunkies to go get a bite to eat. * This is obviously a ploy to see the slayer in action.

 HMPC0202 – Some Assembly Required | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 45:16

Hellmouth Podcast Episode 0202 for "Some Assembly Required." We continue our journey through Season 2 of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Series. What!? Angel is a vampire? Buffy, Ms. Summers if you're nasty... Willow, Xander and Giles help Buffy save Cordelia from becoming the Franken-bride. HMPC 0202 – Some Assembly Required * Welcome to the Hellmouth Podcast * Back with Season 2 episode 2 Some Assembly Required. * Here are all the different ways you can participate in the Hellmouth Podcast Community * Facebook * Twitter @hellmouthcast * hellmouthpodcast@gmail.com (mailto:hellmouthpodcast@gmail.com) * Hellmouth Hotline 1-888-818-8941 * www.hellmouthpodcast.com (http://www.hellmouthpodcast.com/) * SlayAlive forums * Browncoats: Redemption Episode opens in a cemetery just like the last episode. Buffy is sitting on a tombstone playing with a yo-yo waiting for Stephan to rise because she has a ton of trig homework to do. * Angel unintentionally sneaks up on Buffy. He heard that she was out on the hunt. * Brief discussion about what it’s like first waking up as a vampire. Talks about it being a little disorienting. Buffy says it is hard to picture Angel going through that. * Angel seems a little surprised that Buffy is alone. He mentions that he thought Xander would be there with her. * Buffy asks if he is jealous. Angel tries to blow it off calling Xander a kid but obviously there is a little bit of jealousy there. * Her comment about Angel being jealous turns the conversation into a fight. * Angel says he isn’t jealous, Buffy questions whether vampires get jealous and Angel gets frustrated that with Buffy everything always boils down to him being a vampire. * As they argue about all of this, the vampire Stephan rises from his grave. * Ms. Summers goes after him and falls into an open grave. * But it wasn’t another vampire rising from the grave. Based on the evidence at the scene, someone was drug from his or her grave. * In the library the next day. * When Buffy tells Giles it wasn’t a vampire that someone dug up the grave and removed the body, Giles gets slightly excited. “Grave-robbing, that’s new, interesting.” * Xander asks the obvious question, “Why does someone want to dig up graves?” * The body belonged to Meredith Todd, she was Buffy and Xander’s age, she doesn’t ring a bell with them. * So at the Science Fair… * Eric and Chris are milling around. Eric is being a creepy stalker taking pictures of all the pretty girls he sees. * Chris and Willow are apparently friends and Chris is apparently pretty intelligent. He always places first in the Science Fair with Willow coming in second. * Eric continues to take pictures of Cordelia and Buffy, which is very irritating to Cordelia because she is in fluorescent lighting. * Buffy has come to get Willow to help the researching of who Meredith Todd is/was. * Creepy Eric turns to Chris after Cordelia leaves and says Cordelia would be just perfect for us, Eric says don’t be an idiot, she’s still alive. * Back in the library Willow doesn’t have much trouble tracking down who Meredith Todd was. * Turns out that Meredith Todd went to a different high school, which would explain why the group didn’t recognize the name. * Cordelia meanwhile needs Willow’s help with her science fair project. She can’t ask Chris because it brings up painful memories of Daryl. * So based on the MO of grave-robbing the group explores the possibility that a voodoo practitioner might be creating a zombie, or zombies. The group is going to investigate whether or not the other girls killed in the same car crash have been dug up. * In the next scene, while Xander and Giles are digging up graves, Buffy and Willow are having girl-talk. * Buffy is talking about how Angel wouldn’t admit to being jealous even though he was acting jealous.

Hellmouth Podcast Episode 0201 – When She Was Bad * Welcome to the Hellmouth Podcast * Back with Season 2 of the BTVS series. * New Hellmouth Hotline * Call 1-888-818-8941 * www.hellmouthpodcast.com (http://www.hellmouthpodcast.com/) * hellmouthpodcast@gmail.com (mailto:hellmouthpodcast@gmail.com) * twitter @hellmouthcast * facebook * www.browncoatsmovie.com (http://www.browncoatsmovie.com/) * SlayAlive Forums * We start the episode with a quick Season 1 “Previously on BTVS” * Open like so many episodes, in a cemetery. * Xander and Willow are walking along side the cemetery playing a game. * Based on their discussion, the entire summer since their sophomore year has passed. * Willow comments that Xander is looking forward to school starting because Buffy will be returning to Sunnydale. * Buffy has spent the summer in LA with her dad. * There is an ice-cream moment here where Xander and Willow share a look and a touch. * There is almost a kiss, but then…vampire! * “Hey Guys, did you miss me?” * Opening Credits * The group reunites. * Buffy chastises Xander and Willow for walking around at night without so much as a cross. * Xander informs Buffy things have been slow on the monster front since she killed the Master. * Buffy reacts visibly to the mention of the Master. * “It’s like they knew I was coming back.” * We don’t know what happened to Buffy while she was in LA but it is safe to assume she didn’t have to deal with all the vampire issues. * Xander and Willow discuss how they buried the master (consecrated ground, ritual, etc). Willow thought it was neat, they got to wear robes. They buried him up by a tree. * Willow asks if she has seen Giles, she says why would I do that? I’ll see him at school. * Hank and Joyce Summers are unpacking Buffy’s stuff. * Hank is describing to Joyce that Buffy was good in LA. She didn’t get into any trouble, she just seemed distant. * They don’t know how to get through to her or what to say. Joyce just hopes that Buffy makes it through the school year. * In a scene very reminiscent of Buffy’s first arrival at Sunnydale high, we see a shot of the front of the school with the bus driving by. * Giles and Principal Snyder are walking through the halls discussing the first day of school. Snyder compares the students to locust only there to feed and mate. A bunch of hormonal time bombs. * Giles doesn’t know why he became a school principal given his abhorrence of children. * Snyder says of the students “Every time a pretty girl walks by, every boy turns into a gibbering fool.” * The two of them have a playful discussion about what each did over the summer. Ms. Calendar did the Burning Man festival, Giles had his nose in a book. * Buffy, Xander and Willow run into the two of them in the halls. Xander and Willow are happy to see Giles. * Giles asks Buffy how she is. She somewhat sarcastically says… “Alive and Kicking” obviously a reference to the season finale. * Issue#1 I think there  is still some resentment, by Buffy, towards Giles about how he handled the revelation of the Codex prophecy of her death in Prophecy Girl. * Giles tells Buffy that when she is ready they can begin her training again. * Buffy is ready after school. * Giles offers her a few days to relax. * In the next scene, we are in the library. * There is music playing as we see a montage of scenes with Buffy performing various training exercises. Giles watches with a level of concern/examination. Giles can sense Buffy’s heightened intensity level.

 HMPC 0111 – OOSOOM | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 40:26

Here is the Hellmouth Podcast Episode for Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind. We get our Cordelia fix in this episode as we track down an invisible girl bent on revenge. There is a lot to cover in this episode as we approach the season finale. The series and the podcast are picking up some steam. No one is safe from the invisible girl. Giles meets Angel Buffy is busy checking her own list twice and... Cordelia can be a B!#ch * Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1 Episode 11 – Out of Mind, Out of Sight * Open at Sunnydale High with our favorite student Cordelia * This is probably the first Cordelia-intense episode of the series and thank god! * They are beginning to discuss the end of the school year. This would be their sophomore year. * Talking about her dress for the end of school dance. Having dress specially made “off the rack gives me hives” * Walking through the halls discussing Cordelia’s immanent election as the May Queen. * Buffy comes plowing out of the library and crashes into the group spilling her bag of goodies, stakes etc. all over the floor of the hallway. * Cordelia and Harmony scoff and talk about Buffy’s permanent weirdness. * Cordelia turns to her beau and says “Did I ever tell you about the time she attacked me at the bronze.” * Buffy is obviously bothered by the way Cordelia mocks her. She is hurt I think because she used to be part of that popular crowd. * Next scene begins with the lines “if you prick us, do we not bleed?” * This is an interesting scene in my opinion. * They are discussing the Merchant of Venice * Cordelia and Willow are discussing in a class setting the play. However, their discussion is on a deeper level as they are talking about their own individual roles in the hierarchy of the school. * Mitch (Cordelia’s beau) is in the boy’s locker room. * Talking to some of the guys about getting his tux for the dance. Guy locker room talk about Cordelia, playing the macho guy up. * Invisible girl shows up giggling at Mitch and for no apparent reason, picks up a bat and beats the unholy crap out of him a la boiler room smoking chic. * Credits * Buffy’s locker * Cordelia is walking through the halls passing out chocolates to encourage votes for the May Queen. * Tells Buffy she can’t have one; she doesn’t need the loony fringe vote. * Xander and Willow show up, discuss Cordelia trying to hard. * Xander doesn’t know what kind of moron would want to be May Queen anyway… Buffy does. * Turns out Buffy was a may queen equivalent at her old school. You can see that she misses those days. * One of Mitch’s buddies comes running down the halls. Mitch has been found beaten up. * Snyder is trying to control the situation; there are no dead bodies in his school, this week. * Buffy and gang stop Mitch on his way out, he tells them about the floating bat that attacked him. * Buffy starts to go investigate the crime scene. * Snyder stops her and starts to comment about how she is always sticking her nose in things. * Willow mentions that Mitch might sue the school and immediately Snyder’s attention is diverted and Buffy goes into the boy’s locker room. * Buffy finds the bat on the floor, the beat up lockers. * When she closes the locker doors, someone has spray-painted “LOOK” on the locker doors. * In the cafeteria, Buffy, Xander and Willow are discussing “LOOK”. * Giles shows up to speak with them. * Buffy at this point has already ruled out monsters. * Giles has narrowed it down to telekinesis, invisible creature, and poltergeist. * Time to research * Willow compile a list of dead or missing kids * Xander help Giles research in the library * Buffy is going to find out what she can about Mitch. * Upstairs – Sunnydale high * Harmony catches up with Cordelia who wasn’t in fifth period * Cordelia went to the hospital. * Some kind of strange flashback here.

 HMPC 0110 – Nightmares | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:35

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1 Episode 10 "Nightmares". The Hellmouth Podcast is back with one of my favorite episodes from Season 1. In this episode of the Hellmouth Podcast: Spiders Hate Wendell Nazis and Candy Cordelia's Bad Hair Day and Asteroid Billy saves the day... * Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1 Episode 10 – Nightmares * Open this episode in the Master’s lair. * Finally we are back to the master plotline which is the overarching storyline of the first season. The last time we addressed the Master’s plotline was in episode 0107 “Angel” * Buffy comes down into the Master’s lair. * The Master is stalking Buffy as she walks around. * He sneaks up on her from behind. * When she sees him she is terrified, frozen * She can’t fight back, she is so scared that she just lets him grab her neck and bite her. * Then Buffy wakes up, it was just a bad dream. * This was not just a cutesy opening scene to reintroduce the Master in this episode. As I talk about/recap this episode, I want you to keep something in mind. * This episode is all about solidifying the master as this seasons villain. * We are in Buffy Summer’s bedroom. Her mom is waking her up to go to school. * Buffy realizes that what she saw was just a nightmare, or was it? * Buffy’s dad is coming to pick Buffy up this weekend. * Sunnydale High – Willow and Buffy are discussing her dad’s upcoming visit. * Willow asks Buffy why her parents split up, the details are vague, Buffy never asked. She was getting in trouble a lot at the time. * Obviously, despite what Buffy says to the contrary there is a part of her that feels responsible for her parents divorce. * Cordelia is back (We are in class)– Cordelia chastises Wendell for being in her light when she is looking in the mirror. Xander chimes in and mocks the fact that Cordelia is the center of the Sunnydale universe. * Xander tells Buffy and Willow about the altercation. * Willow asks, “Why is she so Evita-like” – very funny. * They are going to be talking about “Active Listening” today * During class, Buffy sees a little boy standing in the hallway. * Immediately after, Wendell, the light hogging student, opens his text book and spiders erupt out of it. * Opening Credits * Master’s Lair – The Master is speaking to the anointed one * He says that fear is the most powerful force in the human world, not love, not hate. * The master talks about his fear of the cross. I think that the master’s intentional reckoning with this fear is one of the things that makes him so powerful. * IMPORTANT QUOTE “If I can face my fear, it cannot MASTER me.” * Big neon metaphor flashing here folks. The “Master” is the embodiment of our fears. He is our master when we cannot control our fears. * Master mentions some powerful psychic force at work in the world above which is causing a change… for the worse. * Back at Sunnydale high * Buffy’s mom is dropping her off, she didn’t sleep well. * Willow and Xander meet Buffy in the hall and want to know if she has talked to Giles about the spider episode in class the other day. * Library – continuation of hallway conversation. * They look for Giles, he stumbles out of the stacks, he was lost. * Giles is visibly upset, tells the group that regarding the spiders, they best have a chat with Wendell himself. * Outside at the picnic tables the group goes to talk to Wendell * They ask Wendell if this has happened before, he says “lot’s of times” * He doesn’t hate spiders, he loves them. Spiders hate Wendell. * I think this is a fantastic T-Shirt slogan. * Cordelia walks by and says “I hope you studied for the history test.” * Buffy rushes off to take a history test * Turns out Wendell had a huge spider collection * His brother killed them while he was away at camp one week.

 HMPC 0109 – The Puppet Show | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:25

Here it is the ninth episode of the Hellmouth Podcast. In this episode we discuss "The Puppet Show". The Talentless Talent Show A Dummy who's no dummy The Slayer follows a hunch And the show must go on... Pay special attention to the discussion about the SlayAlive (http://slayaliveforums.proboards.com/index.cgi) forums. Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1 Episode 9 “The Puppet Show” * Welcome to the Hellmouth Podcast * Thinking about creating a voicemail line where listeners can call in and leave comments about the show. * i.     Email me and let me know what your thoughts are on that. * Recently found an established community on SlayAlive forums. * Will be shutting down Hellmouth forums. * Will change the page to allow Hellmouth podcast listeners to list the username they use on the SlayAlive forums so that we can find each other readily there. I will also link to the SlayAlive forums. * This will not in any way affect the podcast. It is just a way to key us in to a Buffy community that we can interact with. One that is established. * My username is Hellmouth (Shocking) * Forums will be shutting down * Re-iterate this will in now way affect the Hellmouth Podcast itself. I will just be taking the forums down. * We open this episode with a crotch shot of a girl dancer, looks like a ballerina. * We here some creepy perv-voice talking about being whole again. He makes his way through what looks like backstage rehearsals for something. * Finally Cordelia is back! * i.     She is performing a rousing rendition of Whitney Houston’s Learning to Love Yourself. * This appears to be rehearsals for the Sunnydale talent show. * Buffy, Xander and Willow show up to taunt Giles about his involvement in the talent show. * i.     The new “Fuhrer” Mr. Snyder (New Principal) has made Giles the producer of this year’s talent show. * As the trio is leaving Mr. Snyder catches them in the aisle. Apparently he has heard their mocking of Giles and decides that because they are anti-social types and have been caught skipping classes that they are going to be in the school talent show and it is mandatory. * “My predecessor Mr. Flutie may have gone in for all that touchy-feely relating nonsense, but he was eaten.” * Next up is for rehearsal is a ventriloquist act.  Buffy is creeped out by the dummy. Willow thinks dummies are cute (Xander reference). Xander is creeped out by mime. * Morgan and Sid are the act. Sid is the Dummy. * Crotch ballerina is putting her things away in her locker. * i.     She hears something and goes to investigate. * Opening Credits * Back at rehearsals for the talent show. * Buffy, Xander and Willow are rehearsing their dramatic scene. * Snyder and Giles are walking through the auditorium. Snyder is expressing to Giles his theories about education. * Flutie’s downfall that led to his being eaten was the way he treated kids as human beings. * Snyder considers Buffy, Willow and Xander the “bad element” * Someone has finally found the crotch ballerina in the locker room. * Giles has inspected the body and it wasn’t a vampire. * Her heart was removed. * Because the murderer used a knife, the group assumes they are dealing with a human murderer. * All except Buffy, she can’t help but think that because of the Hellmouth they are still dealing with a demon here. * The group starts to investigate the others in the talent show. * All the kids are being helpful and trying to provide information. * i.     Except Cordelia who just like when Flutie died says, it’s just such a tragedy for me. * ii.     Discussions lead back to Morgan having suspicious behavior. 10. Buffy goes to the auditorium to look for Morgan. * She hears Sid talking to Morgan as though they are having a conversation not rehearsing.

The Corrupter. a)  Interesting in Milton’s Paradise Lost, Moloch is listed as one of Satan’s Chief Angels in the war against God. b)  The monks form a circle to bind him c)   Circle of Kayless d)  Moloch senses them casting the spell. i)    Monks command the demon to come! e)  Moloch is mad, he is being summoned and is trapped in the book. f)    The book has his picture on the front. The monks lock up the book in a box. g)  A box which is found by Buffy in the library. It is one of Giles’ new arrivals. 3)  Library a)  New character this episode – Dave b)  Hello Jenny Calendar c)   Jenny and Giles talk about Giles’ aversion to technology, his preference for books instead of computers. i)    New Character – Fritz starts talking about how information is not bound by the written page anymore, it’s an “entity” (this phrasing is important) the only reality is virtual, if you aren’t jacked in you aren’t alive. ii)  This is obviously an extreme standpoint. d)  Ms. Calendar’s computer science class appears to be in the process of scanning library books into the computer. i)    Class is over, Willow is going to stay behind and finish up the few books that she has left. e)  The impression we get is that Ms. Calendar and Giles represent to stances or opinions on modern society. i)    Ms. Calendar is the future. The digital age where people are insulated/isolated from each other as more things happen in virtual environments and through digital communication. ii)  Giles is more tactile, he likes the feel and smell of a book and the human interaction. iii)This episode to some extent is a running commentary on that debate. f)    Willow scans in the book that had the demon Moloch trapped in it using a software called Scan-O-Matique. i)    As Willow scans the pages, the writing in the book disappears. ii)  The computer then flashes to black screen and says “Where Am I?” 4)  Opening Credits 5)  School hallway – Willow is walking with a silly grin on her face. (Time has passed) a)  Buffy catches up to her b)  Buffy follows Willow to her locker, when she opens her locker we see a framed picture of her and Giles in her locker. c)   We find out that Willow spent the night talking to a boy. Buffy wants all the details. d)  Willow knows him as Malcom e)  He is smart, romantic, they agree about everything… but she doesn’t know what he looks like. i)    Forums people Internet dating and internet match sites? 6)  Computer Science lab, a)  Dave tells his computer “Yes, I will, I promise.” b)  Buffy and Willow walk in, Buffy is asking Willow how she met a guy that she has never seen. c)   Willow explains that she met him online. i)    Buffy is instantly concerned and cautionary towards Willow. I think in the context of when the episode aired, this is probably a normal reaction. d)  Willow was afraid that Buffy would react this way.

To help break the ice I have already posted one of my most embarrassing stories on the forums in the topic regarding worst dates, going back to the episode NKABOTFD so if no other reason that to read my humiliating story, you should check out the forums * The Anointed is standing with the Master throwing rocks in a pool of blood. * Darla approaches, Master says on of the other vampires (Zachary) didn’t return from the hunt last night. * Darla wants to kill the Slayer for the Master. He tells her no, because she has a personal interest in it. He decides to send the Three. * What is Darla’s personal interest? * I am assuming this is related to the Angel/Buffy relationship although they didn’t really make a strong case for this. * Next seen three nasty looking vampires, we can assume they are “the Three” are coming around the corner looking for trouble. * It is Cockroach night  (Fumigation Party) at the Bronze, if you catch a cockroach you get a free drink. * Willow and Buffy are sitting at a table while Willow explains the premise of the Fumigation party. Buffy is obviously distracted and in her own world, which is highlighted when, Willow asks her, “What’s it like where you are?” * Buffy is feeling bummed out because she has no man in her life. Willow asks what about Angel? * Angel isn’t around much and there is the whole “cryptic warning followed by quick departure issue”. * Buffy says that when Angel is around, it’s like the lights dim everywhere else. She asks Willow if she has ever felt that way about a guy. Willow says yes and looks across the Bronze at Xander. * Xander is moving his way across the dance floor looking for a female to dance with. * As he does so, he bumps into Cordelia. They have one of there unpleasant conversations in which they take turns insulting one another. * It should be noted that Cordelia does take notice of Xander whenever he is around. * Xander approaches Willow and Buffy complaining about Cordelia. * Both girls are feeling very humdrum and Buffy decides that since she has infected Willow with her mopiness, she is going home. * Xander tries to convince her to stay and dance. She tells him that she will take a rain check and leaves. * Buffy walking home. * Senses someone is following her. * Gets attacked by the Three and they drag her into an alley. * She takes them on and is outmatched. * Credits * Just before she get’s bitten Angel shows up, grabs one of them by the hair and says “Good dogs don’t bite!” * Fight ensue, Buffy and Angel escape the Three. * During the scuffle Angel gets cut pretty bad in the abdomen. * They run to Buffy’s house. She fumbles to open the door with the Three gaining on them. * She slams the door on the three. * Angel says,

In this episode of the Hellmouth Podcast we discuss "The Pack". Xander is possessed by a wild hyena. - Willow deals with a broken heart. Buffy deals with a panicked pig. - Giles is Giles. The Zookeeper would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those pesky kids and their dog... er Hyena! I rated the Buffy episode "The Pack"  2 - 2.5 out of 5. What did you think? She has quick-witted remarks but as they walk off you can see that she is slightly hurt. * Buffy meets up with Xander and Willow in front of the Elephant exhibit. Big plaque in front of the Elephant exhibit says “Family Matters” this might be significant. * Xander and Willow tell Buffy that she missed the Zebra’s mating. * Willow: It was like the Heimlich with stripes. * “Field trip spirit.” * “This is about not being in class.” * Lance is looking at the monkeys taking notes, the initial pack show up and pick on him. * Principal Flutie shows up irritated; it is obvious that he has had problems with these four before. They kind of cower in front of Flutie and he asks Lance if they are bothering him. * Lance says no, not wanting to escalate his problems with the pack. * Flutie is watching them. * The pack eases up on Lance for not throwing them under the bus. * As a reward they are going to take Lance into the Hyena house. * Entering the Hyena House Soundtrack here is foreshadowing that something is coming up if you couldn’t already tell. Once again a wild Jungle themed soundtrack indicates badness. * Willow, Xander and Buffy see Lance going into the restricted Hyena Exhibit with the pack and are concerned. * Mean Kids come with every new school. * Xander tells Buffy and Willow he will handle it, since it doesn’t require any actual slaying. * Trying to earn points for the man-card. * Buffy and Willow hesitate but decide to follow anyway. Before they can get into the exhibit the Zookeeper stops them. * Hyenas are very quick to prey on the weak. * Talks about Masai tribesmen legend that Hyenas understand human speech. They follow them around during the day learning their names then call out to them at night. Once they separate them, they devour them. (Possibly going back to Family Matters – being part of a group) * In the Hyena Exhibit * The friendly treatment of Lance has ended; the boys decide that they are going to pretend to feed Lance to the Hyenas. They hold him over the rail. They all laugh at the joke, except for Lance. (Predatory Act)

This is the Hellmouth Podcast episode for Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 01 Episode 05 - Never Kill A Boy On The First Date. In this episode of the Hellmouth Podcast we get down and dirty as we talk about the evolving plot of the Master in his quest to free himself from his underground entrapment and re-open the Hellmouth. We talk about the Buffy-Xander-Willow-+ Love Trapezoid which is now offiicially the Buffy Love Rhombus. ------------------------ Show Notes ------------------------- Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1 Episode 5 – “Never Kill a Boy on the First Date” * Intro * Wanted to say a big thank you to LannaKate for the first review of the Hellmouth Podcast on iTunes. * Opening scene – Buffy fighting a vampire in the cemetery. One of the LBVs (Low Budget Vampires). Teeth look awful, one of the vampires that really just look like a costume. * Once again, Buffy is fighting this vampire, really kind of having her way with him, not in a sexual sense… * We find out that Giles was behind a crypt taking notes and observing Buffy’s technique. * This is the first time we have seen Giles do this, observe the Slayer in her natural habitat. * This is the first time we see Buffy have someone go along on patrol with her. Some of the best scenes happen while Buffy is on patrol. Everyone from Xander, Willow, Oz, Dawn, etc. This is a little bit different because it is her watcher. This is the first real training that we have seen the two of them do. * He tells Buffy that she should be more efficient in her slaying, spend less energy. It should simply be plunge and move on. * She tells him not to worry about thanking her for making the world safer for humanity. * As Giles is talking he notices something about the vampire she just staked. * A ring, this is not a ring pop sighting, at this point not he is not sure what it is. * They are both concerned that this could be an indication that this vampire was more than just a random slaying. * So right off the bat we are introduced to the impending big bad of this episode. * The Master’s Lair * The Master is reading from a big ancient book. * Spoiler – Once again I think that this is the Codex that he is reading from. The book that Angel steals for Giles which prophesizes Buffy’s death. * The Master is reading a passage about the “Anointed” * “And the Slayer will not know him, will not stop him, and he will lead her into hell.” * Spoiler – the slayer will not know him and will not stop him * This is indicating what we find out in this episode, that this was not some big uber vampire from the ancient texts that she can study up on, it was just a child. * Will not stop him meaning she doesn’t prevent his coming or kill him. In fact, Buffy never kills the anointed, if you remember Spike kills the anointed one in the beginning of season 2. * He will lead her into hell, indicating at the end of the season when the anointed one leads Buffy to the Master’s lair near the Hellmouth and she confronts him in the season finale. * Five will die and from their ashes the anointed shall rise. * Master talks about how the Order of Aurelius will bring the anointed to the Master. * The Master pretends to read from the book about how one of the brethren of Aurelius will get himself killed because he couldn’t wait to do his job before he ate… * He is angry – he warns them that they better not let the Slayer stop them from bringing the anointed one to him. * Credits * Library – Giles is consulting his books about the ring that Buffy found. * Buffy notices the Sun and three stars symbol on the ring. She immediately finds the same symbol in the book that Giles has been scouring looking for answers. * The Book describes the Order of Aurelius. * Owen walks into the library. * This is the first time we have seen Owen. This is his introduction to the Buffyverse.
