Revive the Rose is a Niagara born rock band with a classic sound for everybody. Since 2014, they have rocked their way through Southern Ontario and are ready to take on the world with powerful shows, a fresh sound, and their very own beer in 15 different bars! Over the years, they have opened for huge rock acts such as The Glorious Sons, PUP, Monster Truck, The Trews, Headstones and Bush to name a few. Through these experiences, they have built a strong fanbase that are always excited to see their energetic show, and hear their new songs that tell stories about love, life, and moving through obstacles. Not only have they opened for some of the most popular bands in the industry, but their music has also received significant recognition. Their songs have been featured in the airwaves on popular radio stations such as 102.1 The Edge, and 97.7 HTZ-FM, and also during NHL games. Most notably, their song “Bar Down” has been featured as a warm-up track in NHL 2021. What’s next for this feel-good band? IN PERIL is a new, UK-based hard-rock band playing original music (with a few choice covers, of course!) Alternative Rock 4-piece band Plastic Poetry joins us from Glasgow, United Kingdom. The band’s latest, self-produced EP is a collection of songs that deal with loneliness in the modern-day society, early adulthood and the fears that arise from facing the future. The lyrical work of this band is outstanding! We feature two tracks from the album, Post Romantic Collections, Volume 1. The band formed in 2017 in Glasgow. The singer Victor Deschamps and lead guitarist Adrien Bordes originally met in Munich in high school and started writing songs together. After graduating and emigrating to Glasgow, the band was officially formed with Jamie Linskell and Andrew Scott-George joining on drums and bass respectively. Later that year (and before even playing a single show), they recorded their first self-titled EP at 7 West Studios with producer/sound engineer Chris Marshall (Gerry Cinnamon, Baby Strange, the Dunts...) before going on to build a solid reputation as a live act, playing venues such as King Tut’s on multiple occasions or playing the Songs From Northern Britain festival in Stockton-on-Tees in October 2019. Plastic Poetry’s influences range from British guitar bands (The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian, Franz Ferdinand etc.) to French folk music (Gainsbourg, Françoise Hardy...). Hamilton Ontario based band Pyramids on Mars™ joins us. Kevin Estrella talks about his music, the creative influences behind the unique other-worldly of his sound and other great stuff. Pyramids on Mars™ is instrumental rock guitarist Kevin Estrella. He combines progressive rock, metal with Baroque Classical influences of J.S Bach and Antonio Vivaldi. Montreal based artist Sweet Roger is a surly blues and folk songwriter, distilling everyday life into sound and fury. With his finger-picking guitar playing, crafty melodies and poignant lyrics, he is reminiscent of early 20th century outliers who sang in rough and coarse overtones, and yet he finds relevance for folksy themes in an advanced age where we continue to search for solace. Sweet Roger released his debut album, You’ll Always Have Yourself, in 2017, impressing his fans by spinning folk, Americana and alternative influences into lush arrangements and earning the artist a TIMA nomination for his track “Loon Lake”. Now, Sweet Roger returns and dives deeper into his roots with his new songs “Pay Me” and “Come Back”, the first instalments to a new album on the way recorded on his own during the lockdown of 2020. Forced into isolation like so many, Sweet Roger swapped out the comforts of the sophistications of a professional studio for a completely solitary, homespun recording. No producer. No band. Just the artist. The result: “Pay Me” and “Come Back” capture the unsettling mood of the times with defiant performances of raw vocals and growly acoustics that power us forward. The path leading up to this artist’s breakthrough is very unconventional. After many years of roaming from one Canadian town to the next, working odd jobs and writing tunes in between, Sweet Roger walked the straight path into university and came out with two degrees. He landed a teaching position at a local college, and just when everything seemed to settle into a long career ahead, Sweet Roger did the unthinkable. He quit it all. Working as an oyster shucker in Old Montreal to pay the bills, he played gigs around town, toured, and performed at major festivals. The work, the struggle, and the dark hours gave ample inspiration for songs that tell genuine stories of love and loss. Jessie Monk is a conglomeration of subatomic particles, originally from GunaiKurnai land in Australia. She sings folk songs inspired by the people she keeps meeting, stories she keeps hearing and thresholds she keeps walking through. Also a dancer and an actor, Jessie has played in some major musicals in Australia, including David Bowie’s last piece, Lazarus. The drop of "Watery Grave" established the band as a Canadian rock indie band to follow. The Jailbirds offer music redolent of melodic death metal of the 70s and 80s with new raw rock talent. From 2016, the band has developed a unique sound. The band performs solid riffs, heavy rhythm, and incredible vocals. Their music has the heaviness, grungy character of Black Sabbath. If “Watery Grave” is a radar, the band will not disenchant. This release follows a successful 2019 debut EP The Black River. Their music is their own, tempered with the grunge, classic rock feels of Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, and Royal Blood. The Black River is a dynamic EP with fantastic guitar work, restrained tones, heavy and catchy vocals, and a serious rhythm section, all owning their unique sound as musicians. Two words. Respect. Music publisher/talent manager & industry veteran Patrick Conseil joins us from Los Angeles on this episode, February 5th Patrick has secured over 200 cuts internationally with artists as diverse as Celine Dion, Desi Valentine, Deepend, Axelle Red, and American Authors. His credits include signing Shawn Hook, Richard Walters, and Cobi. Add to these credits, his releases have achieved certified platinum in 20 countries. He scored worldwide top 10 hits with Jennifer Paige (‘’Crush’’) and Republica (‘’Ready to Go’’). He owns a publishing company, Pure Pop Music. Pure Pop Music is a music publishing, talent management, and creative consulting company Continued bio. Currently, Conseil's focus is on building the Pure Pop Music brand. The company's back catalogue includes songs recorded by Celine Dion, Johnny Hallyday, Joana Zimmer, Emily West, Astraea, Kim Sozzi, Marc Von Em, Cazzette, and Dream Girls while newer copyrights include singles by Baywud, Ito and the Moonlight Hippies, and String Theory featuring Addie Hamilton. Following his time on Season 18 of The Voice, he had over half a million views on YouTube His lyrics come from his experiences of everyday life. His music is influenced by the early days of modern music during the 50s, 60s, and 70s. His lyrics remind you of those written by Lennon and McCartney to the anthems by Oasis and The Strokes.  In the style of indie/active-rock & other genre styles, he creates relatable music.
