Pulling from vast musical influence, not only those famed from the present and past but also having been steeped in music at home as a child, Zane has garnered a unique ability to express many aspects of the human experience through what he creates. With a musician for a father and being surrounded by alternative arts at home, Zane was made to choose his instrumental path at a young age. From 8 years old he had been trained as a drummer, playing in bars and clubs at 14 and going on to tour as a session drummer for various groups including, most recently: Dralms, Belle Game, Evan Konrad and the heavy psyche band Crosss. During this time he continuously made music under his own monikers 1000 Petal Lotus and dounpour (both being heavily experimental ambient projects) as well as Smash Boom Pow, a band he shares with his brother Ulysses. In his sophomore album, Of Self (Bonfire Records), Zane draws attention back to what is most essential but overlooked in our outwardly focused society – the Self, just as the title indicates. Not only a reminder and reflection for himself, this work allows the listener to interpret as it suits them and their own human experience. Alternative rock 4-piece band Plastic Poetry joins us from Glasgow, United Kingdom. The original broadcast aired on February 26th, 2021. Enjoy! About The Show Alternative Rock 4-piece band Plastic Poetry joins us from Glasgow, United Kingdom. The band’s latest, self-produced EP is a collection of songs that deal with loneliness in the modern-day society, early adulthood and the fears that arise from facing the future. The lyrical work of this band is outstanding! We feature two tracks from the album, Post Romantic Collections, Volume 1. The band formed in 2017 in Glasgow. The singer Victor Deschamps and lead guitarist Adrien Bordes originally met in Munich in high school and started writing songs together. After graduating and emigrating to Glasgow, the band was officially formed with Jamie Linskell and Andrew Scott-George joining on drums and bass respectively. Later that year (and before even playing a single show), they recorded their first self-titled EP at 7 West Studios with producer/sound engineer Chris Marshall (Gerry Cinnamon, Baby Strange, the Dunts…) before going on to build a solid reputation as a live act, playing venues such as King Tut’s on multiple occasions or playing the Songs From Northern Britain festival in Stockton-on-Tees in October 2019. Plastic Poetry’s influences range from British guitar bands (The Smiths, Belle & Sebastian, Franz Ferdinand etc.) to French folk music (Gainsbourg, Françoise Hardy…). Prior to her death at 30 in a private plane crash, she was at the height of her career. Patsy is one of the most influential, successful, and acclaimed female vocalists of the 20th century. Nashville artist Sarah Martin is our guest today. Sarah is making a lot of noise with her music. Her vocals are outstanding. The February 2019 single “Heartbreak Song” reached number one on She Wolf Radio four months after its drop. Following, Sarah was named Pro Country Female Artist of The Year. She won the Audience Pick in a Global Rising Song competition for her original song, “Broken Things,” in 2020. Down-to-earth country. Enjoy the show! It was his first No.1 after twenty-four single releases, staying at the top of the charts for three weeks. Alt-rock Brisbane-based, Australian band Flint is back on the show today. Frontman Tony Rosenberg and guitarist Peter Jenner are our guests. Both are songwriters for the band. We spin the band’s just dropped debut EP Follow The Embers. John Doyle (bass) and Brian Foulds (drums) joined the band in late 2020 and the fruit of their efforts is (will be) the band’s debut EP, a five-song compilation of rock music with an edge. Flint began as a desire to create a sound that is not obvious, but which traverses several realms of rock. Odd tunings, unexpected chord progressions, peculiar percussion are blended carefully with lyrical musings that take listeners on a roller coaster ride of moods, feelings and ideas. At one moment, a listener may hear something remotely familiar; however, before they can digest the sound, it is transformed into something unforeseen, or was it?
