From Complex To Queens, Episode 54: Jake Mangum Is Not Ichiro | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3593

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the podcast from Amazin’ Avenue focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. With a bunch of shows airing their season or series finales a bit prematurely thanks to coronavirus, the team chooses a few of the best in Promote/Extend/Trade. After, they discuss who has stepped up and who could still be doing more regarding all of the outreach efforts to help minor league players that need assistance during these trying times. Finally, they talk about the differences between high school baseball, college baseball, and professional baseball and why the numbers a player might put up in the first two are not necessarily indicative of the numbers he might put up in the last.  From Complex To Queens, Episode 53: The Best Player You Never Saw | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3202

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the podcast from Amazin’ Avenue focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. John S. Pemburton first synthesized his recipe for Coca-Cola on this date back in 1886, so the team discusses their most and least favorite Coke variations in Promote, Extend, Trade. After, they discuss their favorite minor league prospects that they followed never made it to the major leagues or never had their career trajectories pan out as expected. Steve reminisces on Juan Urbina, Lukas recalls Fernando Martinez, Ken remembers the recently-retired Cameron Planck, and Thomas discusses Colby Woodmansee. Finally, they talk about Brian Cole, who tragically died in a car accident on March 31st, 2001. Cole rocketed up through the Mets’ minor league system from 1998-2000 and seemed poised to crack the major league roster before losing his life. His brief minor league career almost a mirage, many of the best players of the era still call Brian “the best player you never saw.” As always, you can listen or subscribe to the podcast through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.  UnforMETable, Episode 35: Tony Fernandez | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1681

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Tony Fernandez sadly passed away last month after a long battle with kidney disease at the age of 57. Known primarily as a key figure on some great Toronto Blue Jays teams of the 1980s, Fernandez would come to the Mets in 1993 as the latest in a long line of veteran name acquisitions. The franchise was foolishly hoping to recapture its fading glory, but instead put together a collection memorialized as “The Worst Team Money Could Buy.” We will look back at Fernandez’s impressive career, his disappointing tenure with the Mets, his untimely death, and his historic ranking as a fine candidate for a “Hall of Very Good As always, you can listen or subscribe to this and all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the podcast from Amazin’ Avenue focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. Next, Steve, Lukas, Ken, and Thomas follow up on their selections in the The Inaugural Way-Too-Early Draft Special! and give updates on the seasons their respective picks have had so far. After, the team celebrates 50 episodes of From Complex To Queens by going back into the Amazin’ Avenue archives and reminiscing about the very first Daily Farm Reports that they ever did. In basically what became a segment of “Oh Yeah, That Guy” on steroids, they reminisce about plenty of long-forgotten players, a few defunct teams, and plenty of memories. Finally, Steve sits down with Michael, who runs @adoptmilbplayer. Michael shares why he started this very worthy project and how you can sponsor a minor league player who could use the help.
