Steel Panther guitarist Satchel on the band's detractors: "We don't read your hate mail...because we can't read." | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1186

We've been fans of the band Steel Panther for damn near 15 years now. And not only because their songs are hilarious...but because behind the image and salacious lyrics, they are a phenomenal group of performers! Now they've released a new single that pays tribute to, what they feel, is the greatest year in music..."1987", And now, as the band gears up for the release of their full length album in Feb '23, followed by a full slate US and European dates...we thought it was time to catch up with our old...and I do mean old...friend, Steel Panther guitarist Satchel, to see what's up in his world.

Hope For The Holidays: The Anderson Family 12/08/2022 LISTEN HERE! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1268

Dear Johnny, I wanted to write to you about my family. My son, Nolan, is a 5 year old little boy who can light up any room. He has a twin sister and a 14 year old sister as well. Nolan was born with Down syndrome and has been overcoming hurdles since birth. He had open heart surgery at 6 months old, and 2 years ago we found out he will need another at some point. In August, Nolan started limping. He would get better, then limp a few days. Multiple X-rays, doctor visits, and labs were done with no answers. We made the trip to Children's Mercy on September 6th of this year, and received the devastating news no parent wants. Nolan was diagnosed with ALL, or Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He has had many ups and downs in his short life so far. I have never known a little boy to go through so much and still do it with a smile on his face most days. He loves the simple things in life, going on wagon rides, playing with cars, and being at home with his family are just a few of his favorite things. The reason I am writing is because we have put so many miles on our cars. Our primary van which has 160,000 + miles is now leaking oil and I can’t figure out how to fix it, but I was able to put 4 new tires on it. We are having to drive the 1 hour trip to Children’s Mercy now every 10 days, but in January we will have another 30 day in hospital stay which means that me and my wife will switch on the weekends staying with him while he is in the hospital. After that 30 day stay we will have to start going weekly for visits, then back to treatments every 10 days. This takes a toll on the vehicle. With my wife having to take my son to appointments and therapy, and now chemo, she can’t work. So I am working two jobs just to try and make ends meet with him being in and out of the hospital since September. We are caught up on most of the bills, but I’m worried about our mortgage payment in January. It’s difficult to write this letter and ask for help, but I just wanted you to know Nolan’s story and how strong this little boy is. Thank you for your consideration, Justin Anderson Who Helped: Nick, Tammy, Glen, Benjamin, Ryan, Trevor & Christian Brothers Automotive How You Helped: Paid January mortgage, fixing the van and a rental car.

Hope For The Holidays: Brandy 12/07/22 LISTEN HERE!!! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1024

Dear Johnny, I am a single mom of 3 and have had the roughest year ever. Last August (2021) I was diagnosed with breast cancer (I had a large mass in my right breast, stage 2). Starting in September I began chemo. I had treatment until February this year and in March I was told I was in remission. I worked all through chemo in order to pay the bills and provide for my kids. I had my first surgery in March which was a double mastectomy and had to take 6 weeks off from work. I also had to have a procedure to put in expanders to prepare for breast reconstruction. In September of this year, I had to have my ovaries removed because my cancer is estrogen fueled. I missed 3 weeks of work. I’m 38 years old. I have one more surgery that I have to have done but I have been putting it off to January because I can’t afford to take more time off right now and my oldest son is leaving in a few weeks for his first deployment. Through it all I have to smile and keep pushing because we are still very blessed no matter the obstacles we’ve had to overcome. I am working so hard to keep up with doctors’ appointments, bills, work and kids. Just normal life things. And it will be my son’s last Christmas home for a few years. I would be so grateful if you could help us. I just want to have a good Christmas and not fall behind. Thank you for reading my email and thanks for all you do. Dear Johnny, My name is Adam and my wife is Tonya, and I’m writing because this year has been tough for us. We have a 1 year old daughter that we just brought home from Children’s Mercy Hospital last week. We live in Maryville and we have made lots of trips to Children’s Mercy this year. My daughter’s name is Hexley and she was diagnosed with Hypo-plastic-Left Heart Syndrome at 21 weeks in utero. We have been in and out of the hospital for the past year. She had surgery last November at just 8 days old and a second surgery in May of this year. I have missed quite a bit of work and with everything that has gone on money has been tight. We have fallen behind on bills and are just trying to catch up. Our little girl has a long road ahead of her and we want her to have a special Christmas since this will be her first Christmas home and with family. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. I appreciate it. Adam Peak Who Helped: Sabrina, Joel, Steve, Dawn, David How You Helped: 2 months rent, caught up on car payment and electric bills

Our old friend, Comedian/Podcaster Dan Cummins, is one of our favorite entertainers, not only because his particular brand of comedy is truthful, weird and prone to make more than a few folks cry in the overpriced cocktails...but also because his hit podcast, Timesuck, is one of the in-depth, informative freak shows on the internet!! We're stoked he's coming back to KC on Jan 27th...but we're even more excited about his new episode of Timesuck that explores the world of one of the most mysterious organizations right here in KC, The International House of Prayer!!  Hope For The Holidays: Mandy & Tommy 12/02/2022 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1101

Dear Johnny, My name is Mandy and I need some help this year. I’m not writing for myself, but my husband Tommy. We’ve been together for 8 years and actually got married in June. Tommy’s had it rough these last few years. He was diagnosed in 2018 with a brain tumor about the size of a grapefruit. He beat the odds and was out of the hospital from having it removed in 48 hours. He was also back to work within a month, and we thought we had this beat. In May, we were told he had 2 new tumors and we started radiation and chemo (Glioma brain tumors on left side of the brain). Soon after radiation he had a stroke and a grand mal seizure. He works as a large machine mechanic in a factory and has continued to work as much as he can during treatment. He’s continuing treatment and continuing to try and work. He is very proud and we aren’t sure how much time he has. We feel like we’ve just been buying time. He has battled multiple brain tumors and still keeps going. He is just a fighter. The doctors say his health will continue deteriorating and even though they don’t like to give a prognosis, they figure somewhere between 7 and 15 months. The reason I’m writing is because he will soon have to use a wheelchair and the basement area that is accessible isn’t framed in or finished off for a wheelchair shower or proper flooring. I was able to install a sink and a toilet, but want it to be a comfortable area for him to live an fight this. I’ve been in contact with a contractor near us in St. Joe and have gotten a bid of $2000 to finish out the area, install the shower, frame it in, run the plumbing, do traction flooring and make everything wheelchair accessible. He has such a huge heart and has given all his life. I don’t have the extra funds, but I would really like to do this for him. Thank you for reading my letter and happy holidays to all of you. – Mandy Who Helped: Robbie, Gene, George, Consentino's How You Helped: Raised money to help finish out the basement to make it wheelchair accessible, groceries

Hope For The Holidays: AJ & Family 12/01/2022 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1747

Dear Johnny, Hello, my name is AJ and I desperately need assistance. It all started in September 2021, I had to call 911 for my husband who had gotten covid. He had gotten really sick with covid and pneumonia and was on a ventilator for a month and a half. He was at KU for 67 days, then a hospital to have his tracheotomy taken out, and then more of a hospital stay for physical and occupational therapy. It was so hard and painful for him to go through therapy and learn to walk again. He was away from home for a total of 150 days and didn’t return home until February 2022. I needed to say the hardest thing to our children, in our lives. That their dad may not make it. You just can’t believe it when the medical staff asks you if his heart stops do you want to resuscitate. He continued his therapy every Wednesday and went back to work part-time. I work part-time as well at a daycare. I work all the hours I can, but sometimes it’s difficult because I was diagnosed with MS in 2006. I knew it is going to be a really hard Christmas this year with all the setbacks. But, during Thanksgiving this year all 4 of us had the flu. Of course it is harder on my husband than the 3 of us. I had to take him to urgent care this last Sunday, because he was coughing and having problems breathing. He is still on oxygen after the urgent care, but he is getting better. Needless to say, we’ve gotten behind on bills (gas, water electric, trash). We have a daughter 18 and son 13. They understand the situation and are helping all they can. I was able to make our mortgage payment, but it just doesn’t leave any extra to get caught up. My husband is ready to go back to work and will be cleared to go back full-time at the first of the year. It was a tough Christmas last year in the hospital. I just want to be able to make it through the holidays this year. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. AJ Who Helped: Mike, Shane, Candy, Kevin & Muddy River Tactical, Brandon & MC Electrical Contractors, Consentino's How You Helped: Catch up on bills (gas, water, water, trash), 1 month mortgage, Christmas for the kids and husband, groceries.

Hope For The Holidays: The Packer Family 11/29.2022 LISTEN HERE! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1054

Dear Johnny, I don't even know where to start. My family really needs help. My husband Richard and I both work full time jobs, we have 4 children. This summer we had to move out of our home we had lived in for over 8 years. The landlord had sold the property and we needed to find a new place to live. Not long after moving, Richard was in a car accident. He was T-boned as someone ran a red light near Kansas Avenue and K32. His car was totaled. We are now down to one car and doing our best to keep our heads above water with Christmas on the way. We have fallen behind on a few bills, but most importantly I owe $200 to get my tags registered (they expired in September). As it is our mode of transportation, we are in a tight spot, some months we both worry if we are able to pay the bills and keep food on the table for our children. I have applied for food stamps but simply put we make $67 too much to qualify. I sometimes feel like I am failing my children, but I know...where there is a will there is a way. I would love to get our only car legal if anything else, as well as make sure our children have some sort of Christmas. We are grateful that you took time to read our letter. I promise to pay it forward once we are able to get back on our feet. Thank you for listening, Sincerely Abby Packer Who Helped: Jim. Kevin, Joe & Myles, Bobby, John and Consentinos How You Helped: Caught up on rent and gas bill, got the car tags legal, Christmas for the kids and groceries

Hope For The Holidays: The Brown Family 11/28/2022 - LISTEN HERE!! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1663

My dad, Preston Brown (57), is an amazing person. A father of six children, he’s been a hardworking man his entire life and has sacrificed so much to always take care of his family. He’s the type who will always help out anyone who needs it and will never ask for anything in return. My family loves him so much and I don’t know what we would do without him. But in September of this year he started to feel bad, had a hard time eating and an upset stomach. After being pushed by my mom, he went to the doctor to have some tests done. In early November, my father was diagnosed with Stage 4B esophageal cancer. Tests and biopsies reveal he also has several lymph nodes affected, spots on his liver, and a malignant mass on his kidney. They have now scheduled tests for spots on his spine also. He will be undergoing an aggressive course of both radiation and chemotherapy to battle this cancer and our hope is that he will eventually be cancer-free. While he’s battling cancer, he’s unable to work. My mother, a cancer survivor herself, has been working two jobs and picking up as many extra shifts as she can to support the family, including my three little sisters who still live with them. My mom has been working herself insanely hard trying to keep them afloat, but with all of the tests and treatments he’s undergoing, they’re starting to fall behind. I don’t want my mom to have to be so stressed about finances on top of everything else. I just want to help them not fall behind and my mom and family to be able to spend time with him while he battles this disease. They are spending so much money on gas to and from his appointments (he has several each week and all are 1 to 2 hours away from their home.) I appreciate you reading my letter. Brittany Brown Who Helped: Brandon & MC Electrical Contractors, Nathan, Ken, Curtis, Whitney, Tom, Charlie, Grant and Consentino's How You Helped: Gas Cards, paid gas bill, Christmas for the kids and groceries
