Lunar Sea Spire show

Lunar Sea Spire

Summary: A weekly podcast discussing cartoons.

Podcasts:

Episode 196: Craig of the Creek | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 27:34

GC13 and David discuss Mass Burnett and Ben Levin’s new show, Craig of the Creek (he’s gonna save the da-a-a-ay!). There were high hopes for Craig of the Creek and it’s definitely delivered (they can’t help it if they make a scene), though we can of course hope for a dream-fueled crossover rather than just hearing Craig sing the Little Butler theme to himself. If you haven’t watched it, then you really should give it a try.

Episode 195: Pink Diamond and Tiger Millionaire | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:23

GC13 discusses the stories of two great tweeners: Pink Diamond and Tiger Millionaire. Cookie Cat may be the more popular story to compare with Pink Diamond’s (he left his family behind!), but Tiger Millionaire provides a more satisfying comparison: he also left his family, but was also born to privilege and wrongly reviled. We haven’t seen the ending to the tale of Pink Diamond though. Will Bismuth edit her sign?

 Episode 194: Susan Strong | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 21:28

GC13 and David discuss Ms. Sugar’s fifth Adventure Time episode: Susan Strong. This was another Adventure Time episode where a humble seed planted early in the series would eventually grow into a mighty story arc. This same penchant for building a world before setting into the story arcs would be carried into Steven Universe. We apologize for the lack of any Susan Strong in the Real Way jokes in the episode, but it’s such a beautiful night and we should just let ourselves be wherever we are.

Episode 193: Why Pink Diamond Theory was so convincing | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 13:13

GC13 discusses why, even as the theory was shunned by the majority of vocal users, he was convinced that Rose was Pink Diamond well before A Single Pale Rose aired. There were hints scattered through the series, even in Sworn to the Sword which was the first indication that there was Pink Diamond (though people had been calling for it even before then). There were also some really intense bits that would only make sense in retrospect, but this is all about the evidence (even things that seemed to be evidence but turned out not to be). Also, while GC13 assures everyone that the episode length was an accident, he also assures everyone that it’s oh so fitting and he wishes it was intentional.

Episode 192: The Drawn Podcast spoilers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:20

GC13 and Isabelle discuss the spoilers from the original version of the promo video for episode one of the Drawn Podcast. In case you are unfamiliar with the spoilers, we discuss their existence (without saying what they are!) in Advanced Spoilers and You, and you can find a clip of just the important spoilers on Reddit here. So this is your last call. If you want to remain unspoiled, then stay in your bunker until the end of the season. If you know what awaits us, however, then join us.

 Episode 191: Can't Go Back and A Single Pale Rose. | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:03:35

GC13, Sophia, David, and Isabelle discuss the latest episodes: Can’t Go Back and A Single Pale Rose. What time is it? It’s spoiler time! If you haven’t seen the episodes, then what are you still doing here?!? There are going to be tons of spoilers in this podcast, for crying out loud! (Especially about A Single Pale Rose which definitely stole the spotlight.) Watch out for spoilers on the rest of the site in the future. And speaking of spoilers, next week will have lots of spoilers for episodes that haven’t even aired yet! Be excited or beware!

 Episode 190: Letters to Lars | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:54

GC13 and Isabelle discuss the final episode before the coming storm: Letters to Lars. What will be so dangerous that the town will need to seek refuge? Where will they shelter? Why is it that Amethyst can shapeshift away the human clothing she’s wearing as part of the improv troupe? Pearl is still adorbable, Dewey is still the greatest. Oh yes, and Chunk Truck still isn’t Concrete Heat.

 Episode 189: Pool Hopping | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:03

GC13 and David discuss the ultimate future vision episode: Pool Hopping. While the last piece of Garnet’s future vision puzzle was finally explained to us in Pool Hopping, there’s a lot more to get excited over—cats, for instance! Hopefully we see a lot more of Cat Steven in the future, even if just in the background. It does leave the question of where everything is going though. Steven is crucial to it all, but how can he protect Earth from the Diamonds?

 Episode 188: The Big Show | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:05

GC13 and Isabelle discuss The Big Show. Let’s get one thing out of the way: we need a Sadie Killer and the Suspects album. Obviously the songs that have appeared on the show should be in the second volume of the soundtrack, but we should get more songs to go with them. Greg’s musical connections have finally paid off: Sunshine Justice may not be a pony, but she apparently has a nice venue. She probably won’t show up at the Beach City concert, but Barb definitely will!

Episode 187: Your Mother and Mine | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:47

GC13 and Isabelle discuss the first episode of Steven Torpedo 2, Your Mother and Mine. This episode is all about story time with Garnet, but how accurate is that story? Garnet wasn’t there, and is probably relying on Rose for some pretty crucial information. Plus, is Pink Diamond gone or not? The saga of Lars and his daring crew continues. Thank goodness they cleared up the whole compliment issue, or Padparadscha might have been sad.

 Episode 186: You're In Control | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:37

GC13 and David discuss the finale for the first season of Mr. Jones-Quartey’s OK K.O.!: You’re In Control. Even if the power levels on display in the episode make absolutely no sense at all, it’s certainly a big deal of an episode. Not only is there a big change in management at Boxmore, the fight scenes are just great. Then, of course, there’s the question of what everything means for K.O. It looks like we’ll have to wait and see…

 Episode 185: The March 26 episodes (Steven Torpedo 2) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 35:21

GC13 and David discuss the second Steven Torpedo (a batch of episodes released to the app first). Our predictions weren’t bad, all things considered. (Maybe we cheated by knowing what thumbnails the episodes had.) Don’t worry though, we still got things wrong, and had at least one joke turn out to be true. It was a fun batch of townie episodes, and a flashback of dubious accuracy. And Concrete Heat also learned how to look like his tag partner, Chunk Truck.

Episode 184: Predictions Based on the Promo | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 28:26

GC13, Isabelle, and David discuss the promo for the episodes that have just come out, and make predictions based off of the promo. It’s a very juicy promo, so there’s plenty to be excited about, even if the episode descriptions don’t leave much room for heavy plot to happen. Where there’s a beach, there’s a story (or something like that). How did we do? If you want to find out you’ll just have to watch the episodes and then listen to us (or the reverse!).

 Episode 183: The Real You | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:27

GC13 and Sophia discuss Ms. Sugar’s fourth episode of Adventure Time: The Real You. It’s sweet and may or may not feature the first kiss Princess Bubblegum gives to Finn (not even the crew of Adventure Time knows). If you manage to sit through the commentary track’s opening (including a three minute and thirty second ukulele solo by Pendleton Ward) there are also tidbits of info, like where Ms. Sugar got two of the lines from the episode. Also featuring a bonus discussion of Will Smith as per Sophia’s request.

Episode 182: The teaser for the April 9 release | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 26:06

GC13 and David discuss the questions they want answers to after being promised some answers by the tweet accompanying the twelve-second promo for new episodes scheduled to arrive on April 9. We still know so little about the Diamonds, especially White Diamond though Pink is still quite new to us as well. Homeworld is also still quite mysterious, both in how it works and why it does what it does. Let us know what questions you hope they answer!
