Summary: A weekly podcast discussing cartoons.

 Episode 226: Escapism | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 19:33

GC13 and Sophia discuss Escapism. It was definitely a polarizing episode among the fandom, but even within one person it can still bring such conflicting emotions: so much to wonder about, yet perhaps not one’s cup of tea? That said, Escapism is certainly Foreshadowing: The Episode. Watch it and you’ll see what surely must be concepts that will play out next week when the one-hour special (now apparently named Change Your Mind) airs.

 Episode 225: Together Alone | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:00

GC13, Isabelle, Sophia, and David discuss Together Alone. Pay no attention to the Pearl behind the curtain, just focus on the excellent voicework going into differentiating our Pearl from Blue Pearl and White Pearl. Also all of the tension of the disaster everyone knows is coming being partially offset with more funny jokes. Speaking of which—Connie: nobody knows what you and Steven were expecting going out to dance there. Why?

 Episode 224: Familiar | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:35

GC13 and Sophia discuss the second episode of Diamond Days (and the first that wasn’t on the app before): Familiar. Getting some time on Homeworld brings the show back to old form, giving us interesting stuff to wonder about. Gems in walls, Steven’s ability to give life to melons and pebbles, and what an original Diamond outfit design made just for Steven could look like. And, of course, there is much musing about the future. How the series will end is starting to take shape, but how exactly will the show go about getting there?

Episode 223: Legs From Here to Homeworld and the Diamond Days promos | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:27

GC13 and Isabelle discuss Legs From Here to Homeworld, fresh from the app to the world of television, and the promos for the upcoming Diamond Days episodes. With a lot of discussion of the promos this episode is rather spoilertastic—it spoils as much as commercials and press releases can, at least. As far as Legs From Here to Homeworld is concerned though, opinions have changed a bit ever since the promos started making promises about upcoming episodes. Familiar airs today. What could have changed?

 Episode 222: Ultimate Dough-Down | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 41:54

GC13 and David discuss the new Steven Universe graphic novel, Ultimate Dough-Down, with its author: special guest Talya Perper. In short: it’s a great read, and keeps the streak of great Steven Universe comics alive. Do you want an updated version of the Do or Donut song? Dough-down has you covered. Do you love seeing new characters? Dough-down has plenty. Do you love it when things are two things? Dough-down has that covered too. You can find Talya Perper on various social media platforms, including Twitter and Tumblr.

 Episode 221: Harmony #5 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 23:14

GC13 and David discuss the fifth and final issue of the Harmony miniseries. It’s over. Much has been done, many songs have been sung, and Peridot still has many Internet arguments yet to win. We know exactly when in the timeline the miniseries fits (just before The Big Show), but we don’t know how this might tie in to a movie featuring another red crystalline heart. Be sure to listen next week when we’ll have Tayla Perper, author of the previous graphic novel Anti-Gravity and the upcoming graphic novel Ultimate Dough-down, on as a special guest!

 Episode 220: The Curse | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:05

GC13 and David discuss an episode of Craig of the Creek written and storyboarded in part by a Steven Universe storyboarder (Amber Cragg): The Curse. It was an episode awaited ever since the Witches of the Creek were seen in the opening theme, and it didn’t disappoint. Two fantastic character designs were attached to two fantastic characters, put into a fantastic episode. Tabitha and Courtney’s voice actresses are actually known for their podcast, My Favorite Murder, if you’re interested in hearing more of them.

Episode 219: The upcoming Diamond Days episodes | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 28:58

GC13, Isabelle, and David discuss what we know about the upcoming Diamond Days episodes, based mostly off of the trailer and episode descriptions. It’s definitely not a spoiler-free episode (sorry Sophia), but there are still a lot of questions. We don’t even have a clue what questions could be answered by the event, let alone what the answers are. Still, we’re finally set to see more of Homeworld than just a courtroom and the abandoned kindergartens. It’s happening!

Episode 218: Giving thanks for Steven Universe in 2018 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 25:09

GC13 and David give thanks for Steven Universe’s 2018 exploits (and some things from after Thanksgiving in 2017). Not only was a very big question answered, but smaller questions were answered. Back among the big questions, we also know at least the appearance of all four Diamonds and their Pearls. Plus, Craig of the Creek has started airing, and OK K.O.! has continued going strong. It was a good year not just for Steven Universe, but for its alumni as well. Of course news we are very thankful for broke too late to be included in the episode, and that was the announcement of five new episodes, starting with Legs From Here to Homeworld, airing on Mondays starting on December 17.

 Episode 217: Harmony #4 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 20:39

GC13 and David discuss the fourth issue of the Harmony miniseries. There’s one more to go! This one definitely has the biggest cliffhanger yet, though depending on how the comic ties in to the movie (which is a pretty good bet at this point) there may be an even bigger cliffhanger at the end of issue #5. Or maybe everything will just seem wrapped up, only to be unraveled at the start of the movie. Either way, we eagerly await the arrival of issue #5 to wrap up the miniseries on December 5.

 Episode 216: Gemcation | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:45

GC13, Isabelle, and David discuss Gemcation (this time with the benefit of having seen A Single Pale Rose). After his realization of how he made Connie feel in Dewey Wins Steven develops a bit of a single-minded fixation on the matter. Still, the Gems do their best to try to get him to open up to them, even if they think he’s more concerned by the fact that a pair of intergalactic tyrants tried to kill him than anything that may have happened on Earth. Also: Party Guy!

 Episode 215: Dewey Wins | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 22:01

GC13 and David look back at that tragic episode, Dewey Wins. (At least it ends up happy, by the end of Letters to Lars.) It was a big shakeup to the status quo of Beach City, even if that status quo wasn’t worth a whole lot by the time it happened. Steven learned a lesson though, and it kicked off a lot of anxiety about Connie. So, which would you rather see: Steven the Godfather reuniting Secret Team, or Marty deserting from the soon-to-be fallen Beach City parents?

 Episode 214: Morituri Te Salutamus | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:45

GC13 and David discuss Ms. Sugar’s seventh episode of Adventure Time (and GC13’s favorite), Morituri Te Salutamus. Remember how Jake acted in Power Animal? Here’s a lot more of that. It’s just as glorious this time, plus it spawned the song Tropical Island, which we just love. Plus Finn gets to show off how good he is at following his own plans, and the Fight King really has a thing for Finn speaking latin. (Plus, you really should listen to that cover of Tropical Island.)

 Episode 213: Crossover Nexus | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 24:12

GC13, Isabelle, and Sophia discuss the OK K.O.! episode Crossover Nexus. Sophia liked it a lot more than she liked the crossover that shall not be named, but it did suffer from only being eleven minutes and having to include characters from four different shows and a brand new villain. If you haven’t read Mr. Jones-Quartey’s Twitter thread about the goings-on behind the scenes of the episode then you should. It’s quite interesting stuff.

 Episode 212: Harmony #3 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:53

GC13 and David discuss the third (and middle) issue of the Harmony miniseries. Well if #2 felt a bit similar to #1, then #3 definitely shakes things up (we were right, it was quite the middle entry). Sure, Gems are still visiting Sadie to sing, but now a plan is coming together. There’s a lot of room for stuff to get complicated, but at least we can try to solve this. Now that it looks like the harmony core issue should be solved by the end of the miniseries we’re left wondering: what is the movie teaser teasing?
