News and commentary for Wednesday,21 August, 2013.   How is it that meltdowns from Fukushima to Wall Street can be ignored, and the REAL threats to life, liberty, and property don't even make the Waste-stream Media headlines, while threats that are literally trivial by comparison rate paralysis-inducing FEAR?   Sometimes the most revealing news comes through the contradictions.  

From parables to the "Kingdom of heaven", today the two Marks, along with guest teacher Preston McNutt, wrap up the discussion of Matthew chapter 13.

News and commentary for Tuesday, 20 August, 2013.   That there is a battle going on, between "good and evil", or "freedom vs tyranny" - or even just lies versus truth - is hard to deny.   Something about the news today seems to bring it home, however...  

Aug 19th, 2013 With Chad gone on honeymoon and Amy nursing her daughter Willow, it was up to veterans, Don Wyant and David Mathews to come to Wendell's broadcasting side.  In hour 1, discussion centered around the "Dangers of the Hebew Roots Movement" from a Christian perspective. In hour 2, Todd and Tamara from the Paradigm Shift show joined to discuss the alleged FEMA region 3 alert for the east coast of the U.S. and the effects of Fukisima (sp) on the west coast.

Ki Tetse – When You Go Out This portion is a unique teaching in the Torah. It focuses on one topic and addresses the topic by example without mentioning the word, which is "kindness." Kindness is appropriate in every situation of life and is an essential requirement before reaching the heights of "love." This portion details many examples of kindness. One must first be kind before loving another person. This is a very important teaching if we are to keep the first and second greatest commandments: loving God and loving our neighbors.

"When You Go Out" There are many peculiarities found in this Parsha. For instance, it contains more of the mitzvoth (72) than any other. It begins and ends with instructions regarding war, yet is filled with how to interact with others. Is this contradictory? Couldn’t all wars be avoided if we each adhered to the mitzvoth regarding our relationships first with YHVH and then with others? In fact, all of the commandments of YHVH can be subdivided into two distinct categories: #1. How to love (and interact with) YHVH and #2. How to love your Neighbor and interact with them.
