----Formal English---- Linda: Where are you from, Halvor? You don't speak in dialect. Halvor: I'm from a small village in the middle of eastern Norway. Linda: Did you grow up on a farm? Halvor: No, it was a townhouse, but there were many farms nearby. Did you grow up in a city? Linda: Yes, we had an apartment in the middle of the city center. Halvor: I don't think I could live in a residence as small as a flat. Linda: We moved to a detached house in the suburbs when I was fifteen. We had a big garden, too.  Advanced Audio Blog S2 #5 - Top 10 Norwegian Tourist Destinations: Trollstigen | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:33

Learn Norwegian with NorwegianClass101! Don't forget to stop by NorwegianClass101.com for more great Norwegian Language Learning Resources! ----Formal English---- Trollstigen Trollstigen is a road that runs through mountains of Norway from the city of Andalsnes to the city of Valldal. Many tourists want to take on the road because it is remarkably steep and offers breathtaking views of the countryside. The incline along the road is only nine percent, and there are eleven hairpin turns going up the mountain. Just one wrong move can send a car careening into a ravine, so the road is shut down during the fall and winter. Vehicles that are too long are not allowed on the road either, for obvious reasons. Visitors who reach the top of Trollstigen are rewarded with an outstanding view of the Stigfossen waterfall. Aside from just the ascent up this treacherous road, there are also numerous opportunities for tourists to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. The road itself belongs to the National Tourist Routes project because of the amazing vantage points it offers. In addition, there are plenty of opportunities in the area for hiking, climbing, mountain biking, and skiing. Tourists may also wish to park the car and walk along the old Klovstien Track, which is about a two-hour walk. For hundreds of years, this path has been used as a way to connect Sunnmore and Romsdalen. Prior to the completion of Trollstigen in 1936, the footpath was the only way to get between those two cities. Another attraction in the Trollstigen area is the Istra River, which offers canoeing. Tourists looking for more of an adrenaline rush may instead wish to check out the whitewater rafting opportunities along the Valldola River. --------------------------- Learn Norwegian with NorwegianClass101!
