Inger: Ja, hallo. ----Formal English---- Receptionist: Hi and welcome to Fjord Hotel. How can I help you? Inger: Yes, hi. I would like to ask some questions regarding your hotel. Where is it located? Receptionist: It's a newly built hotel right by the fjord. It's only a 10-minute walk into the town. Inger: That sounds very good. What rooms do you have? I can’t stand smoke, so it would be great if the rooms are smoke-free. Receptionist: Since we care about our guests' health, all our rooms are smoke-free. We have single rooms and double rooms. What type of room are you interested in? Inger: Since I'm coming with my husband, I'm interested in a double room. By the way he has just broken his leg, so he can't walk up stairs. Do you have an elevator? Receptionist: I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, we have an elevator. Inger: Then I'd like to book a double room from the 4th until the 10th of August. Receptionist: We look forward to meeting you both. --------------------------- Learn Norwegian with NorwegianClass101!  Advanced Audio Blog S2 #14 - Top 10 Norwegian Musicians: Edvard Grieg | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:37

Learn Norwegian with NorwegianClass101! Don't forget to stop by NorwegianClass101.com for more great Norwegian Language Learning Resources! -------Lesson Dialog------- ----Formal ---- Edvard Grieg Edvard Grieg var en pianist og komponist fra Norge. Hans mest kjente stykke er "Piano Concerto i A Minor." ----Formal English---- Edvard Grieg Edvard Grieg was a pianist and composer from Norway. His most famous piece is the "Piano Concerto in A Minor." He also wrote music that was used in Peer Gynt, a play written by the famous Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. Grieg was born in 1843 to a merchant and his wife. Grieg's mother was a music teacher. In fact, she was his very first piano teacher, and he began to play when he was just six years old. Throughout the course of Grieg's life, music was always important. As a child, he often brought in pieces of the music he was working on. He also got to meet the famous violinist Ole Bull, who became Grieg's uncle by marrying his aunt. It was Bull who noticed Grieg's talent and talked his parents into sending him to the well-known Leipzig Conservatory. Although Grieg excelled while at the conservatory, he did not like the heavy discipline in place there. He almost died in 1860 when he contracted a very serious lung disease, but a year later, he gave his first concert as a pianist in Sweden. His first concert in Bergen, his hometown, came in 1862, after he had finished his studies. Much of Grieg's work was inspired by Norwegian folk music. Later in life he enjoyed much national fame. The government even awarded him a pension in honor of his work. In addition to his compositions and piano performances, he also made recordings for the gramophone and player piano. --------------------------- Learn Norwegian with NorwegianClass101!
