Learn Indonesian with IndonesianPod101! Don't forget to stop by IndonesianPod101.com for more great Indonesian Language Learning Resources! ----Formal English---- Nagabonar Nagabonar is a satire comedy movie released in 1987. The story is about a self-proclaimed general, Naga Bonar, who ironically is a former pickpocket. The story takes place in north Sumatra near the city of Medan during the Indonesian Independence War of 1942. Soon after Japan was defeated, the Dutch army tried to recapture its former colony and unleash a new wave of military operation. This operation was resisted by Indonesian guerrilla warfare. During this chaotic period, Naga Bonar, a petty criminal who has just been released from a prison, has an idea of deceiving the army rank by proclaiming himself a general. His initial intention is fully adventurous—for personal satisfaction and to gain some benefit from security services that he and his men provide. Leading a gang of other petty criminals and other followers, Naga soon discovers the reality of war and the fact that being a general is far from his imagination. The guerrilla war molds Naga's leadership. He becomes a leader who's frightened by enemies but whom many villagers would look up to. The movie's comical part centers on Naga's enigmatic character. He is a brave leader who is still afraid of being scolded by his mother. He is a shy general who still asks his [...]

----Formal English---- Komodo National Park in East Nusa Tenggara Province Komodo National Park is located between the West and East Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesian archipelago. The total area of this park is 1817 kilometers squared with 603 kilmeters squared of it land. Being one of the richest marine environments, the conservation also protects its marine biodiversity that include hundreds of different coral reefs, thousands of different bony fishes, marine reptiles (sea turtle), and mammals (dolphins, dugong, and whales). Komodo National Park was admitted in UNESCO World Heritage in 1986. Komodo dragons are the main attraction of the national park. This species was first encountered in 1910 by a Dutch scientist. Komodo is a member of monitor lizard family that is unusual in size. The largest living Komodo dragon reaches three meters long and weighs 166 kilogram. Its size is presumably due to its low metabolic rate and it feeds annually. Although komodo mostly eat carrion, it will also hunt invertebrates, birds, and mammal. It has been reported to prey on humans as well. Adult komodo dragons can be cannibalistic and eat the vulnerable young komodo dragons. It is recommended to go on a guided [...]
