Learn Indonesian with IndonesianPod101! Don't forget to stop by IndonesianPod101.com for more great Indonesian Language Learning Resources! ----Formal English---- Going Around Lake Toba Samosir Lake Toba is the third largest tourist destination in Indonesia. The lake is located in North Sumatra Province at the height of 906m from sea level. In the middle lies a diamond-shaped island called Samosir, which is the largest island-within-island in the world. To reach Samosir Island, visitors commonly use ferry or traditional ships from Ajibata Port in Prapat city to the port of Tomok in Samosir. Another route that offers an extraordinary panorama is via Berastagi plateau in Kabanjahe stretching southward to Tele. There is a viewing tower in Tele village, from which we can see the best scenery of Lake Toba in the form of steep coastline interspersed with small valleys. Following the curves of the valleys, we can descent from Tele to the lake side and cross a bridge that connects Sumatra and Samosir. Arriving at Samosir, the southward route takes us to Nainggolan the largest city on the island before turning northward to Tomok, Tuk-Tuk and Simanindo. Along the journey, the serenity covers with thin hazes and the green paddy field contrasted with blue water lake on the background will greet you. In many places you will find tombs or Tugu in Batak lan [...]
