‘Reasons to Be Cheerful’ Chelsea FanCast #289 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:44:23

On the last  Chelsea FanCast of the season Stamford Chidge is joined by Pablo, Dazza and The Benches to discuss whether Chelsea’s season can be seen as a success and reveal the winners in the Chelsea FanCast End of Season awards – The Fannies of the Year! So Arsenal have finally ended their trophy drought meaning that with one cup in 9 years Arsene Wenger is clearly a better manager than Jose Mourinho who has only won 12 in that time!! But fear not Chelsea did not end the season empty handed as the Youth team and Under 21 side both won their respective competitions – hopefully this bodes well for the future. But tonight we look back at the past 9 months and reflect on the season and ask if there are any reasons to be cheerful. We also have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the season, and ask what the reasons to be cheerful last season were and what our hopes for the summer transfer market and next season are. We have the results of the Chelsea FanCast End of Season awards including Match of the Season, Goal of the Season and Player of the Season. And talking of awards, we have again been nominated in the 2013/14 World Soccer Talk Awards, for the following categories • Best Club Podcast – Chelsea FanCast • Best Podcast Presenter – Stamford Chidge • Best Club Blog – Chelsea FanCast • Best Blogger – Stamford Chidge The voting will close on Sunday, May 25. And winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 27. So go and vote at worldsoccertalk.com/awards. As this is the last show of the season, we'd just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who visits the website, listens to or watches the show – it really wouldn't be the same without you. And a massive shout out to everyone we've met at the games this season, drunk with in the pubs, chatted to on twitter, facebook  and mixlr, and especially to those of you who have been supporting us since we started doing the show 6 long years ago! Make sure you keep in touch during the summer by emailing us at chelseafancast@gmail.com and tweeting us @ChelseaFanCast, and of course checking in at the website to read the blogs and catch up with any shows you have missed. We are hoping to upload the entire archive over the summer so watch this space. Thanks for listening, see you next time. Until then, keep it Blue, keep it carefree, and keep it Chels. Up the Chels!  “Ifs, Buts & Maybes!” Chelsea FanCast #288 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:45:11

On this week’s Chelsea FanCast, Stamford Chidge is joined by Pablo, Jonathan Kydd, Dazza and The Benches to discuss the last match of the season against Cardiff and look through the nominations for our end of season awards – The Fannies of the Year! We finish with a win away at Cardiff but in truth the match summed up our season – failing to put away chance after chance. Jose finishes outside the top two for the first time in 10 years, but when all is said in done, our League campaign has been much improved and if it hadn’t been for the poor results against Sunderland and Norwich we may have been Champions. At least our goal record survives intact and the Scousers were denied a first title win in 24 years. There’s always a silver lining! On the show this week we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Cardiff game, asking whether Hazard and Oscar need an attitude adjustment; wandering whether Ashley Cole and Fernando Torres have played their last games for Chelsea (hopefully in the case of the latter), and we’ll be praising Cesar – Azpilicueta. We have the Fannies for the Cardiff game where we will be awarding our MOTM, COTM, Celery and Guinness moments. In part four and five we’ll be debating and finalizing our nominations for the Fannies of the year – our end of season awards. All this plus Chelsea Chadder’s Stats and a roundup of the latest Chelsea News!  A Bridge Too Far! Chelsea FanCast #287 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:45:50

On this week’s Chelsea FanCast, Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dazza and The Benches to discuss the matches against Atletico Madrid and the final home match of the season against Norwich. A disappointing week for all at Chelsea as we lost the second leg of the Champions League semi-final – all be it to the better side on the night. Nevertheless it would have been a great achievement to reach three European finals in a row. Clearly the team were not the only ones suffering from a post European hangover as we struggled yet again to break down a dogged defence – this time Norwich City. A limp 0-0 draw against an all but relegated side was not the ideal way to play our last home game of the season. Parking the bus anyone? On the show this week we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Norwich and Atleti games, asking has the team improved this year and can the season be seen as a success, and have we seen the last of Ashley Cole. We’ll also be asking if Jose was right to dig out Hazard this week and have we under or over achieved in Europe this season. We have a double dose of Fannies this week for both the Norwich and Atleti games where we will be awarding our MOTM, COTM, Celery and Guinness moments. All this plus Chelsea Chadder’s Stats and a roundup of the latest Chelsea News!  The Enemies of Football! Chelsea FanCast #286 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:47:58

On this week’s Chelsea FanCast, Stamford Chidge is joined by Pablo, Jonathan Kydd, Dazza and The Benches to discuss the wonderful defensive rearguards against Atletico Madrid and Liverpool. Chelsea FC ruining football since 2003! No one likes us but do we really care? First of all we do a job on Atletico Madrid away to have one foot in our third European final in a row, but do we get respect? No. We are negative and defensive and should entertain people, they say. And then on Sunday we pooped on Liverpool’s coronation with a 2-0 win away with what amounted to a B team. Superb tactical game plan? Not a bit of it. We double parked the bus, we cheated, we are an embarrassment, they say. Personally I don’t care – I delight in pooping on Liverpool and the neutral fans party. To quote Jose Mourinho: “I’m not a neutral, I am Chelsea” and like him I am very happy to be an enemy of football. On the show this week we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Liverpool and Atleti games, asking how Jose Mourinho does it time and again, how sweet was the win against the scousers, should we get respect for our achievements in Europe and will we win our 13th European semi-final? We have a double dose of Fannies this week for both the Liverpool and Atleti games where we will be awarding our MOTM, COTM, Celery and Guinness moments. All this plus Chelsea Chadder’s Stats and a roundup of the latest Chelsea News!  ‘Slipping Away!’ Chelsea FanCast #285 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:45:50

On this week’s Chelsea FanCast, Stamford Chidge is joined by Pablo, Jonathan Kydd, Dan Levene and The Benches to discuss the defeat to Sunderland, the end possible end of our title challenge and which strikers Chelsea should buy this summer. What a depressing day Saturday was. After all the build-up we go and blow it against the bottom side – losing Jose’s unbeaten home record and our title hopes in the process. It’s easy to blame it all on the gross incompetence of Mike Dean but at the end of the day we also need to look at the team. It reminds me of Chelsea in days gone by and like those sides, we just don’t seem to have the mentality of a Championship winning side at the moment, well that and someone capable of putting the ball in the back of the net. But we are in a Champions’ League semi-final on Tuesday so let’s hope the team can pick themselves up and do the business tomorrow, next Sunday and for the remainder of the season. On the show this week we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Sunderland game, we’ll be asking if the title has literally slipped away, is Ramires stupid, does Rui Feria need anger management and who is the scouser in the black? Later in the show we discuss which strikers Chelsea should buy this summer and talk to betting expert Nigel Seeley on what the best value bets are for the Champions League and for the Liverpool game. We have our Match Awards, ‘The Fannies’ this week for the Sunderland game where we will be awarding our MOTM, COTM, Celery and Guinness moments. All this plus Chelsea Chadder’s Stats and a roundup of the latest Chelsea News!  ‘It’s on!’ Chelsea FanCast #284 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:45:00

On this week’s Chelsea FanCast, Stamford Chidge is joined by Dazza, Pablo, Jonathan Kydd, Chelsea Chadder and The Benches. A typical week in the life of a Chelsea supporter as first we dig in, defy the odds and beat PSG to get to our 7th Champions League semi-final in 11 years and then against Swansea on Sunday we scraped through against 10 men to eke out a 1-0 win to keep our chance of scuppering Liverpool and Man City’s title hopes very much alive! On the show this week we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Swansea and PSG games, we’ll be Daring to Demba; discussing the virtues of route one football and winning ugly; applauding Jose’s masterplan and the spirit of Stamford Bridge and asking “what about Cortez?” We have a double dose of our Match Awards, 'The Fannies' this week for both the Swansea and PSG games where we will be awarding our MOTM, COTM, Celery and Guinness moments. All this plus Chelsea Chadder’s Stats and a roundup of the latest Chelsea News!  Stoked! The Chelsea FanCast #283 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:44:33

On this week’s Chelsea FanCast, Stamford Chidge is joined by Dazza, Jonathan Kydd, Dr Mart, Chelsea Chadder and The Benches. It proved to be a gentle spring stroll against Stoke on Saturday as we came out 3-0 winners against Mark Hughes’ reformed side. I say reformed, Charlie Adams still plays like he is at reform school. And talking of spring, they say there is no place like Paris in the spring, but sadly for Chelsea our existence in this year’s Champions’ League looks as fragile as a spring bud thanks to a last minute 3-1 defeat to PSG. Let’s hope the spirit that helped us to defeat Napoli in 2012 returns on Tuesday On the show this week we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Stoke and PSG games, raving about the pace of Mo Salah and the Braziliance of Willian and asking did Jose get it right by not playing a striker against PSG and can we conjure up the spirit of Napoli in the return leg? We have a double dose of our Match Awards, 'The Fannies' this week for both the Stoke and PSG games where we will be awarding our MOTM, COTM, Celery and Guinness moments.  Bad All Over! Chelsea FanCast #282 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:45:17

On this week’s Chelsea FanCast, Stamford Chidge is joined by Dazza, Jonathan Kydd and special guest Johnny Dyer from The Podding Shed Podcast and The Benches. Jose summed it up very well. Balls. Chelsea were certainly lacking them in the visit to Shell Suit Park in a 1-0 defeat to the Stripey Nigels as some of our players went missing. In what was arguably the worst performance of the season, our loss to a spirited and committed Palace side has almost certainly put paid to our title challenge this season – well at least Jose thinks so. Oh well we’ll just have to win the Champions League then! As always we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Palace game discuss the strange case of missing players and ask whether it is the lack of decent strikers or our inability to break stubborn teams down away from home that has scuppered our title challenge We also have this week’s Match Awards 'The Fannies' for the Palace game where we will be awarding our MOTM, COTM, Celery and Guinness moments. Later in the show we have a look at who will be staying and who will be leaving in the summer, and Joe Tweeds from Plains of Almeria set us a challenge to choose a Chelsea XI with two players from each from the 1970’s; 1980’s; 1990’s, 2000’s and the 2010’s and a goal keeper from any decade. We reveal our teams in the show. All this plus Chelsea Chadder’s Stats and a round up of the latest Chelsea News!  Spanking the Arse! Chelsea FanCast #281 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:44:30

On this week's Chelsea FanCast, Stamford Chidge is joined by Dazza, Pablo, Jonathan Kydd and The Benches,  and we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Arsenal and Galatasary games, discuss how Jose got his tactics spot on against Arsenal, and ask where this result leaves us in the title race. We also discuss the Galatasary game and ask is Frank Lampard more suited to the pace of European football after his excellent display in the match against Galatasary. But most important of all - what a top week and in particular top day on Saturday it was. I don’t think many of us would have predicted an annihilation of Arsenal on that scale. I genuinely haven’t laughed that much during a football match, well, ever! Brilliant display and an even better result and perfect timing on Arsene Wengers 1000th match – Arsene Wenger we want you to stay!! We laughed a lot (LOLZ) during the show and had lots of BANTZ largely at the AWAYBOYZ expense! After all that it is easy to forget that we dismissed Galatasary in mid-week without breaking sweat to reach the quarter finals of Big Cup where we will face PSG, and we gave a proper send off to Didier Drogba in the process. We have some nice video footage of the the tribute to Drogba in the show. We also have a double dose of Fannies this week for both the Arsenal and Galatasary games where we will be awarding our MOTM, COTM, Celery and Guinness moments. All this plus Chelsea Chadder's Stats and a round up of the latest Chelsea News!  ‘Foysonous!’ The Chelsea FanCast #280 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:43:41

On the Chelsea FanCast this week, Stamford Chidge is joined by Dazza, Pablo. Jonathan Kydd, and the boys on the Benches with special guests former Chelsea player and great friend of the show Paul 'King Canners' Canoville, and Tom Deacon The Eurofan from Copa 90. We discuss the Villa match, Chris Foy's appalling refereeing and have a look at Ross' player ratings . We ask has Foy ended our title hopes; should Eto'o be our first choice striker and will Jose build a fortress mentality for the title run in? We also  award our Man Of The Match, Chant Of The Match, Celery and Guinness moments in the Fannies. Our special guest is former Chelsea player Paul Canoville, for his fourth time on the show and first since we've been on TV. We talk to Paul about his Q&A event with Pat Nevin, Kerry Dixon, Mickey Thomas and Big Doug Rougvie and also about that famous 1983-84 season when Chelsea won the old Division 2 to get back to Division 1. In addition we talk to Tom Deacon who is 'The Eurofan' from Copa 90. He'll be telling us all about his experiences of following football clubs all over Europe during the Champion's League, and we set him some challenges as he takes on the mantle of being a Chelsea fan for one night for the Chelsea v Galatasary match! All this plus 'You're on CFFC', Chelsea Chadder's Stats and a round up of the latest Chelsea News!  ‘Top of the Poppers!’ Chelsea FanCast #279 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:43:31

Stamford Chidge is joined by Dazza, Pablo. Jonathan Kydd, Dan Levene and the boys (and girl) on the Benches to discuss the 4-0 win against Spurs, dish out our match awards and debate Club v Country! After the drudgery of international football, we had one of the games we look forward to most on Saturday – Chelsea v The Shit from the Lane. Anyone a little bit nervous about keeping our 24 year unbeaten record intact needn’t have worried. Vertonghen the Wrongun gift wrapped the first goal for us and his colleagues joined in the fun by gifting us the next 3 to leave Chelsea 4-0 winners and Stamford Bridge bouncing to the heavy, heavy sound of Madness' One Step Beyond – Happy Days! We have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Spurs game, asking whether Eto’o should be called Cheato; thanking Spurs for their assists, and paying homage to what is undoubtedly the best defence in the league if not the world. Oh and what was Eto'o really sniffing...Poppers? We award our Man Of The Match, Chant Of The Match, Celery and Guinness moments in the Fannies with the help of the viewers who voted their choices on the website. We also have a special debate on the Club v Country issue after JT’s solid (and justifiable) refusal to turn out for England again – but let’s face it do we really care about England and international football anyway?  Last Wednesday we had to endure the utter awfulness of an international match featuring England. Apart from the terrible football on display if you’re a Chelsea supporter from whatever country you probably spent most of the time worrying about who might get injured in a pointless low quality match. So what is the point of international football if you’re a Chelsea supporter and English? The players get booed by the morons who go, and treated with contempt by the manager and the FA. The bottom line is that we see better football and better players supporting Chelsea, oh and we win things. Or is it as simple as that? Rob Shepherd from the Daily Mail calls in to defend the honour of England! All this plus 'You're on CFFC', Chelsea Chadder's Stats and a round up of the latest Chelsea News! You can listen to the show live at 19.00 every Monday by tuning in to mixlr.com/chelsea-fancast where you can join in by posting in the chat room or you can watch the TV show at sportstonightlive.com or on this website at Chelsea FanCast TV Tweet us @ChelseaFanCast (#ChelseaFanCast) if you have any questions, and if you want to sit on the ‘Benches’ or have any video clips from the pub or the terraces for us to run in the show then email us at chelseafancast@gmail.com If you want to Skype us on the show then add us on Skype: chelsea.fancast or email us to arrange it on the Monday.  “Hell Ain’t a Bad Place to Be!” Chelsea FanCast #278 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:43:42

Stamford Chidge is  joined by Dazza, Pablo. Jonathan Kydd, Chelsea Chadder and the boys on the Benches to discuss the Galatasary and Fulham games, as well as dishing out the weekly match awards and having a debate about whether John Mikel Obi is under-appreciated or not! It was a hard week for the Chels which saw them earn a draw in the depths of Hell to leave the Champions League tie against Galatasary in the balance, and as a result they looked leggy in the first half against Fulham on Saturday until Hazard woke up and found an able strike partner in Andre Schurrle. Looking at the first half performance though one wonders if they’d all been out on the sauce with the Chelsea Away faithful in what was by all accounts one of the best away trips and proper old turn outs for years in Istanbul! On the show we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Fulham and Galatasary games, and we ask whether hat-trick hero Schurrle can be our goal scoring striker, did Jose give them the hair dryer or not, and how can we inject some fresh legs in to what looks like a tired side. Also can we rely on Drogba to put in another limp performance in the second leg of the tie against Galatasary just for old times’ sake? We award our Man Of The Match, Chant Of The Match, Celery and Guinness moments in the Fannies and we have a special debate on John Obi Mikel, making the case that he is both underestimated and under-appreciated and take on all comers in the process! Notes of Chelsea Supporters Trust Special General Meeting Held at The Atlas, West Brompton - 15.15 hours on Saturday 22 February                   Item 1 - Introduction and overview from board on progress since last SGM Chairman Tim Rolls (TR) declared the meeting quorate and open.  He went on to introduce the members of the CST Board present, co-opted member Ross Mooring sent apologies.  He also introduced the guest speaker, Amanda Jacks (AJ) of the Football Supporters Federation.  TR apologised for the meeting being held at yet another different venue, however, he explained about the difficulties in finding a suitable venue close to Stamford Bridge. Item 2 - Updates on progress and actions regarding motions passed at AGM:- ·          Ticketing / supporter issues Persistent standing – The CST wrote an open letter to CFC CEO Ron Gourlay on 13/12/13 regarding the letters sent out threatening to ban supporters for persistent standing.  RG has responded, advising that the club would like dialogue on this issue and are happy to meet to discuss matters further. Arsenal League Cup game – Cliff Auger (CA) confirmed that a response has now been received from Arsenal FC to CST’s letter.  Unfortunately this letter refuted the points put forward by CST, and issues arising from this fixture have subsequently been used as an excuse by AFC for smaller allocations to be given to Tottenham Hotspur FC and Liverpool FC in recent cup ties.  CST intend to issue a follow-up letter to counteract the Arsenal arguments.  Unfortunately, it is possible advice provided by Arsenal to Manchester City FC may have contributed to problems Chelsea supporters experienced in the club’s FA Cup game on 15/02. Safe standing areas and general atmosphere concerns Celia Mindelsohn (CM) presented a brief explanation into the Safe Standing Survey which will be published 24/02/14. She explained the survey is a collaboration between the Trust and 20 other supporter groups, and CST members will receive an email containing the link. It was confirmed that the survey will close 16/03/14, after which results will be collated and publicised. David Chidgey (DC) added that in order for the survey to have an impact, it was important to involve as many organisations as possible to add to its credibility.  It is hoped the survey results will attract press attention. CA spoke of his visit to Ashton Gate with TR and DC last week to attend the Safe Standing launch. He confirmed that Jon Darch of the Safe Standing Roadshow met with Chelsea FC officials at the end of January, and that CST are trying to arrange a visiting from the Safe Standing Roadshow before the end of the season as it is important for supporters to see it as part of the campaign’s information programme.  TR added that a Chelsea Supporter and CST member, Mark Allen, is undertaking research into Safe Standing with the FSF and is keen to work with us going forward. Viagogo and other secondary ticketing agencies TR confirmed that he is undertaking a benchmarking exercise into ticket prices across the Premier League, but this has been hampered due to difficulties in locating a contact at those clubs where no Supporters Trust exists.  He added that THFC’s Trust have launched a campaign against the club’s partnership with StubHub, and stated that his findings thus far had established that Arsenal have the best secondary ticketing system, a not-for-profit exchange with low overheads.  TR went on to say that he had seen 14 touts in c100 yards on the way to Saturday’s game,

Cometh the hour and a half, cometh the Man! The Chelsea Football FanCast #276 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:41:59

Stamford Chidge is joined by Dazza, Pablo & the return of Dr Mart and Beth from Chelsea in America. We look back at the last gasp victory against Everton and ask how important this win could be for the title run in and do Oscar and Hazard need a rest? A tough match against a tactically astute Everton side, but after wave after wave of attack 'cometh the hour and a half, cometh the man' – Captain – Leader – Legend – John St George Terry grabs the winner which sent us out of control. What more can you say about JT? My God we’ll miss him when he’s gone! On the Chelsea FanCast tonight we have a look at Ross’ player ratings for the Everton game where Jose Mourinho's switch of Ramires for Oscar at half-time saw Chelsea move to a 4-3-3 shape for the remainder of the game with a combination of players manning the frontline and eventually causing Everton problems with hard running from deep. We’ll be asking how important this win could be for the title run in and do Oscar and Hazard need a rest. After all Oscar has played every game since 1905 hasn't he! Also can we stop these infernal early kick offs? We need a rest too and less pub time kills the atmosphere stone dead! We award our Man of the Match, Chant of the Match, Celery and Guinness moments in the Fannies - chelseafancast.com/the-fannies/, as voted on the website by the viewers. We’ll also be having a special debate on whether Cech or Courtois should be the first choice keeper next season including a Skype chat with Chelsea supporter and Spain based journalist Rik Sharma. We also reveal who the viewer’s chose in their vote on the website. All this plus your twitter and mixlr questions answered and a Skype call with Davi from ChelseaBrasil.com in "You're on CFFC"; Chelsea Chadder’s stats and the chance to win an IPhone battery charger from MaxiCharger and a retro Chelsea shirt from Campo Retro You can now listen to the show live at 19.00 every Monday by tuning in to mixlr.com/chelsea-fancast where you can join in by posting in the chat room or you can watch the TV show at the same time at sportstonightlive.com or on this website at Chelsea FanCast TV Tweet us @ChelseaFanCast (#ChelseaFanCast) if you have any questions, and if you want to sit on the ‘Benches’ or have any video clips from the pub or the terraces for us to run in the show then email us at chelseafancast@gmail.com If you want to Skype us on the show then add us on Skype: chelsea.fancast or email us to arrange it on the Monday.
