John Wayne S. III (JW) is a storyteller, producer, and director. Over his 20+ year career, JW has built a solid foundation in multiple aspects of the industry. He has amassed an unsurpassed level of experience and skill that makes him an invaluable asset in production. Whether working as a freelance or staffed producer, his fiercely unique work draws the audience into the stories of his productions. JW’s career began with his serving as a PA for George Tillman’s (Soul Food and Men of Honor) first film, Scenes for the Soul. When production wrapped, he continued to work with George and his partner Robert Teitel. During this time, JW delved into the world of publicity with Grammy-nominated producer Steve “Silk” Hurley, who has worked with : Michael Jackson, Prince, and Madonna. JW became Director of International A&R while with Silk, setting up and supervising agents in both the UK and Japan. Inspired by his growing knowledge of production, JW started JWS Productions. Since its inception, John Wayne S. III has produced over 200 music videos, 70 commercials, and a variety of media projects. After abrief hiatus from music, he became President /GM of DL Records, where he guided the label’s trajectory and helped propel the artist Bodaiga, whose hit single “We Don’t Play Dat” (produced by Lil Jon and featuring Bun B) was a global success. Eager to explore the final frontier of documentary and feature films, JW started Londyn Town Pictures. JW searched for the right project to pursue for his first film before settling on Red All Over, which highlights both sides of America’s hottest issue–gun violence–and offers an alternative view. When John isn’t immersed in the world of entertainment, he enjoys time with his daughter in their home in Houston, Texas. He recently directed the movie that impacted most of us, ebony hustle! Our next guest is a musician of his own kind, got working on his own group, and been focusing on his mental health! Give it up for Vic aka Phase Farer Vic. He has been writing and making music for well over 20 years. He just recently decided to start releasing music in 2018 with the group Nomadic Odyssey.  Hip-Hop is foundational in his art, but he wanted do things a bit differently so he returned to his spoken word poetry roots in the summer of 2021. Oleg Mrynskyi is an 18-year-old independent producer from California. After releasing two instrumental jazz/blues-inspired albums, he decided he had enough experience to produce a full-length collaboration EP titled "CHIAROSCURO". One year progressed of gathering artists and making songs with his closers friends—he released the album on November 16th. During the process, he released a single with Nanajaz under the name of "breathing", which was the origin of the pop-inspired music for Oleg. He later released a song called "Crash Test Dummy" that he produced for the artist Adam Ambrose. He is mostly inspired by the musicians Aries, Ramzoid, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Today's guest is a rapper and musician named Mainey (pronounced Maine Ee), which is actually a name or other way for saying manly/man though most people use the name as a term meaning crazy, dope, fresh, cool, etc. The name was given to him as a toddler by his grandfather way before the slang/term came about, he was called Mainey since he's known how to walk and talk. Growing up in the 90's era, the life that was given to him was established in the metro Oklahoma City area to be exact. Not being a stranger to poverty forced him to experience all sorts of life situations at an early age and as time went by he learning how to write about them in songs as a form of therapy at a very young age. Gang culture, drugs, and petty crimes all too often play a part in poverty stricken societies of this day and age. As time went by life taught him how to take negative situations and grow from them in a positive way so to speak. In his lifetime he has experienced growing up poor, dropping out of school, prison, just about everything the streets can offer, and now here he stands sharing his life story in hopes of making a world change for the better of life for us all. Today we meet a nice slice of the splinter fraction! Russ Hillier, 34, based in Southampton, UK. he has played in bands for years, mostly guitar and some backing vocals. Music has always been a hobby and passion since his early teens, and a few years ago when his band split up. He wasn't ready to let the dream die. No longer with his bandmates, instead of forming another collective, he decided to take a solo route, which resulted in his transition over to hip-hop & rap. He started making beats around 2014/15, a real mess of genres, really just a hobby and outlet for his creative side. Once he was starting to feel okay with his production chops, he wanted to start bringing in vocalists - but didn't have confidence in his instrumentals alone. So he started laying down my own vocals on them. It sounded horrible, but he really enjoyed the process, letting go of his inhibitions in the vocal booth (literally a closet under the stairs, nothing glam) and started getting heavily into poetry in lyrics, wordplay, humor - all the stuff that makes up good, solid bars. He was trash at this too! But the enjoyment and his ignorance at the time meant I loved it, so he carried on regardless. Fast forward a year or two, he found a community within the makinghiphop subreddit cypher, where rappers are invited to lay down a verse based on a set theme & beat. This gave him a chance to get feedback on what he was doing. Things have changed over the years, but it felt like for the longest time he was one of the few UK frequenters of that competition. This gave him and edge in ways as his voice was very unique there, as most of the users seemed to be US-based. Maybe his shitty flows could be disguised as an accent thing, he dunno lol. But over the years, he made some solid connections, now he has done several collab projects, he's one of 4 pillars that make up the group "Nomadic Odyssey" and recently (since June 2021) he formed an offshoot of rappers from that community known as "Splinter Faction." Most of my time currently is spend working on collaborations with the Splinter Faction dudes. The group is 14-15 members strong, some more involved than others, but it means he's always got his work cut out for him, which is a great thing. He rarely have any time for writer's block these days, with multiple songs being worked on at any given time it's hugely helped me get organized and busy with consistently smashing out releases under the SF umbrella.
