Tubi Exclusive: Swim | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:51:43

So this week marks a special Call Your Ghoulfriends episode featuring your favorite babes of Slashers Podcast, Mikey and Ade! Today, your ghoulfriends talk all things shark related with the over hyped and overrated Swim, a Tubi Original lol. And let us just say that Tubi is the end all be all of streaming platforms, as we all love and adore it, but oof with this film.  Why do Mikey and Ade love this? Hellooooo if features the whoooahhh Blossom boy himself, a Mr. Joey Lawrence, who Ade would profess her undying love for, stemming from Brothers of the Frontier, Brotherly Love, Horse Sense and Jumping Ship. Disney held a hot commodity here with the Lawrence Brothers trademark. Your Slashers have absolutely no qualms gaining metadata from this nonsense. Joey, Matt and Andy were lights of our lives growing up, so just seeing Joey in this is a treat and a treasure.  If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes,  please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com.  The Meg (2018) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:01:32

This week marks the first week of our MayGay Shark month here on Slashers Podcast! Today we kick off this month with our dear friend Micah from Damn That’s Scary podcast to discuss 2018’s The Meg. If you all recall, or were like Ade and Micah thinking this movie came out like a year ago, this    2018 film centers around a giant Megalodon shark and the people it picks off. It was directed by Jon Turtletaub, who you may know directed classics like National Treasure, Cool Runnings, and 3 Ninjas. The film is loosely based on the novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, written by Steve Alten. It stars Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Rainn Wilson, Ruby Rose, Winston Chao and Cliff Curtis. There is currently a sequel in development and should be released by August of next year, but until then, listen in to all of the juicy details of this week’s episode, and feel free to chime in if there are any other shark horror flicks you’d like us to cover.  The Toxic Avenger Part 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:42:31

Welcome to another Monday here on Slashers Podcast, and today we have a special Slashers Smoke Break episode with Doug and Coker, where they dissect the crazy, confusing world of Toxic Avenger 2.  Doug will attest that this was a piss poor sequel to the love of his life original Toxic Avenger, but the Mickey Mouse of Troma must go on. Coker has a different opinion on the film, as he grew up with it and has more nostalgia for him than anything, so find out why by tuning in! It was easy to see why the guys on this show have seen Toxie so much as young kids because of the Toxic Crusaders cartoon, which, for the time, was normal for kids to be viewing debauchery as our parents were never really supervising our viewings the way the MPAA is doing now. Oh, well. The guys even get into Toxic Avenger 3 and Citizen Toxie, with all the guts, blood, and glory those installments have to offer. Coker even figures out a way to juxtapose Toxie 2 with Ebola Syndrome… so this could get interesting. Special shoutout and RIP to Gilbert Gottfried on this episode. He will be sorely missed. Finally, we have subjected our buddies over at Damn, That’s Scary Podcast, Micah and Greg, for their opinion on Toxic Avenger 2.  As usual, they never disappoint. This is Ade’s payback for making her deal with last year’s Tro-MARCH which consequently led to this year’s TromAPRIL, but we digress… You can listen to the Damn, That’s Scary podcast by following this link: linktr.ee/damnthatsscarypod and following them on Instagram @damnthatsscarypod.  Dead Dudes in the House (1989) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:10

Happy Monday, Goons! Today's episode of our TromAPRIL theme here on Slashers Podcast features a gem of a Troma film from 1989 - Dead Dudes in the House! Written and directed by James Riffell and distributed by Troma Entertainment, the film follows five trendy jerks who try to fix up a dilapidated mansion only to be picked off one by one by the madwoman and her daughter who live there. You also may know this film from its other title, The House on Tombstone Hill, as it was recently restored and rereleased on DVD and BluRay by Vinegar Syndrome under that very title. The film stars James Griffin, John Dayton Cerna, Sarah Newhouse, Douglas Gibson, Victor Verhaeghe, and Mark Zobian. Today's special cohost is one Jason Hill, who has been a fan of our show since the very beginning and also hosts his own podcast focusing on cult films, Direct to VHS!  Tromeo and Juliet - a Romeo and Juliet parody Troma style | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:17:09

Happy Monday Goons! Our next TromApril film this month is Ade’s pick, Tromeo & Juliet.  Loosely based on the William Shakespeare source material, Romeo & Juliet, and still follows star-crossed lovers from feuding families. This particular script was penned by none other than James Gunn, who you know from his brilliance of Marvel films like Guardians of the Galaxy, DC films like The Suicide Squad, and horror and family flicks like Slither & Scooby Doo, respectively. The film stars Will Keenan as Tromeo and not-Pam-from-The-Office, Jane Jenson as Juliet. Other faces you may recognize are Debbie Rachon as a variation of the nursemaid and Tiffany Shepis, as well as James’ brother Sean Gunn as Sammy Capulet, aka Kirk of Gilmore Girls and a plethora of other characters in Gunn’s films. Also, we do have cameos from Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister as the narrator and Lloyd Kaufman throws himself in, as well. Obviously this is a stark contrast to Will Shakespeare’s source material, but it also encapsulates the 90s in all its seedy, grungy glory. Find out what Ade loved about this and what Jake and Mikey did not. Be sure to check out the entire episode through the end to hear what our buds, Micah and Greg of Damn! That's Scary, had to say about the film. Yes, they’ve teamed up with us once again to give their own two-cents on Troma!  The Toxic Avenger (1984) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:07:42

Another Monday means another amazing episode of Slashers Podcast! Today kicks off our first episode of TromAPRIL!!! That’s right, goons, your favorite podcast and your favorite hosts are talking Troma Films all month long. Today we get into Doug’s all time favorite film, The Toxic Avenger (1984)! Find out why this film means so much to him, how it’s inspired him, and how Jake and Ade literally just discovered that Doug’s first short film has a cameo with none other than the Troma man himself, Lloyd Kaufman! Like, what the butt fucking hell, how did none of us know this? The short is titled “Resident Emo” and is apart of an anthology called Treasure Chest of Horrors–which you can find and stream on Tubi. For free. Show Doug’s debut film, he made at 16, some love! We all know that Toxie is the Mickey Mouse of Troma, as he rightfully should be. But did you know that Troma Entertainment and Legendary Pictures are set to do a remake, starring Peter Dinklage as Toxie, as well as Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay and Kevin Bacon??? We’re still unsure as to when this will be released, but we’re super fucking excited for it. Finally, at some point, Doug, Jake and Ade realize that without The Toxic Avenger, the three of us may not have come together. Listen in and find out why! Please reach out to us for any and all comments at slasherspod@gmail.com.  Jenna Kanell of Terrifier (2016) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:12:45

Happy Monday, Goons! We have one more special Women's March treat for everyone (and yes, we know it's April, but this was just too good to pass on), as the Call Your Ghoulfriends of Slashers Podcast have invited an honorary Ghoulfriend in...Mikey's favorite gal pal, actress, producer, writer, filmmaker, and overall badass, Jenna Kanell! You all know Jenna as Tara from Damien Leone's Terrifier (2016), featuring everyone's favorite, gory, comedic and creepy Art the Clown (played by David Howard Thornton and also starring Catherine Corcoran). But did you know she also played in The Bye Bye Man (2017) as well as countless other titles, in addition to the upcoming Faceless After Dark (written by Jenna herself!), the upcoming The Wild Man, and the upcoming Renfield starring Nicholas Cage as Dracula. Listen in and find out all of the amazing projects Jenna has coming up as well as her role as an activist for women in film. She truly is an inspiration and so much fun. This episode was initially meant as an interview, but it's essentially a hodgepodge of all the Ghoulfriends gabbing about women in horror and a zillion other wild stories and tales, but instead of spoiling them for you, why don't you just hit play! If you want to learn more about Jenna Kanell or reach out, you can follow her on Instagram and Twitter @squidthusiast .  Please reach out to us for any an all comments at slasherspod@gmail.com.  Ma (2019) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:08:05

Another Monday, another Women’s March episode here on Slasher’s Podcast!  Join your favorite ghoulfriends, Ade and Mikey, plus our honorary ghoulfriend, Doug (aka your Bitch, That’s Nasty! Team) as they dive into the cringe-inducing Ma, starring Octavia Spenceras the sinister Sue Ann, who lures the children of her tormentors to her home for parties and something way more vicious than anything any sane person could imagine. The film came out in 2019 and should be celebrated, as it is one of the few, if any, female antagonists who is a black female killer and an Academy Award Winner, at that! It also stars Allison Janney, Juliette Lewis, Luke Evans and Missi Pyle. It’s a star-studded horror/ psychological thriller that slowly creeps up on you and when it hits the ground running, it’s a quick punch to the gut. We can do nothing but sing this film’s praises… DESPITE the fact that this is, wait for it, A BLUMHOUSE FILM. Omg, someone get Ade a glass of wine and a sedative because of the former sentence that actually came out of her mouth. The horror!! Best part about this? Listen in to hear Doug’s pitch for a Ma part 2!  Blumhouse, if you’re listening, get in on this, because I’m sure Doug and his crew could do this one a lot cheaper than $5 million, and perhaps it could a Tubi exclusive????  Final Girls in Horror | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:29:06

Welcome to a Slashers Smoke Break Women’s March episode with Doug and Coker discussing Final Girls. Who are their favorite Final Girls, who are their least favorite Final Girls, and what are some fun female killers? Doug discusses his favorite sequels for the Sleepaway Camp Franchise (parts 2 and 3) because Angela’s character evolves into a bad ass, campy killer. While Felissa Rose plays Angela in part 1, Bruce Springsteen’s sister, Pamela, plays an older version of the character in the next two. Coker even gets into how some blonde final girls have redeemed themselves in their respective films, like Happy Death Day with Tree’s character, and even argues why horror franchises need more blonde Final Girls. Films from Nightmare on Elm Street, Creepshow, Scream, Ready or Not, Halloween, the Invisible Man and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are some of the few to get mentioned throughout this episode. Let us know if some of your favorites made the list. Or, you can also email us and tell us if there’s a particular Final Girl the guys missed. Finally, the episode wraps up with a very special interview with actress, model, phone sex operator, Felicia Fisher, who you may know from Barf Bunny and The Degenerates, plus more films by both Samhel and Jonathan Doe. Find out some of the fun and dirty things she gets to talk about with Doug! You can follow Felicia on Twitter and Instagram @feliciafisherx , as well as her website feliciaplease.com and her email: feliciafisherx@gmail.com. Check her out, she does not disappoint!  Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:07:22

While some fans of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre made their way over to Netflix for the new film, the ride or die fans sauntered over to Amazon Prime. Why? Because they have Night Court… featuring John Larroquette. That joke doesn’t really land, since he narrated this sequel too, but seriously, you should watch Night Court. This was originally meant to be an episode where the hosts simply talked about movies in their collections that they hated or at the very least disliked. Then Ade popped in to say hi, and we realized that we had all seen Texas Chainsaw Massacre by David Blue Garcia, so we did an episode on it. The director, aside from being the guy in the Eiffel 65 music video, has a very limited resume. If any of you have seen Tejano, please let us know because it is not streaming for free and $3 is a lot of money compared to our numbers on Patreon… eesh… but hey on that topic—did you know we have a Patreon? *nudge nudge* The film must have been well received, because in the weeks since its release, Fede Alvarez was announced to be part of the next Alien installment. If you want to know how iconic that franchise is, keep in mind that I just used a general term for extraterrestrial and you knew exactly what franchise. Let me tell you, no one thinks of Soldier with Kurt Russel whenever you use that word… even if it is in the Blade Runner universe. Seriously, it is. Look it up. This film stars Sarah Yarkin plays Melody. No, she is not a musician from what I can tell. What I mean to say is that she plays the character Melody. Her sister, Lila, is played by Elsie Fisher. Mark Burnham, guy without a Wikipedia page, plays Leatherface. Moe Dunford pays the panty-moistening, Richter, whom Ade and Mikey both had strong feelings for. The Borg Queen, Alice Krige, stops by for a cup of coffee in the movie, delivering a very memorable moment. What did you think of the film? How did it compare to the rest of the sequels, prequels, and requels in the franchise? Pplease let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com.  Ali Larter in Horror | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:12:56

Join Mikey, Doug and Ade as they dive into the first episode of Women's March about the talented Ali Larter and her contribution to the horror community! You may have first seen Ali Larter in her titular whipped-cream bikini in Varsity Blues, but we realized that she's actually in a lot of horror and thrillers as well. We talk about her Final Destination films, Resident Evil Films, her remake of House on Haunted Hill, and we even throw in a quick discussion for some of our other favorites, that include Obsession with Idris Elba and Beyonce, as well as Legally Blonde.  We also give a quick recap of some of the newer horror media we're all consuming. Doug fills us in on all his new Vinegar Syndrome buys, as well as Mikey giving his two cents for Dave Grohl's Studio 666, and a graphic novel he just bought called Something's Killing the Children (which definitely sounds fun). Oh, and Ade gets into A Discovery of Witches. We're all really excited for our Women's March this month; especially since women play such an integral part in horror.  Chopping Mall - 1986 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:59:39

Happy Monday Goons!  The last Monday of our (Fe)bruary Killer Robot month finishes out with a Patreon request: Chopping Mall (1986)! The film was directed by Jim Wynorski and was produced by Roger Corman's wife, Julie Corman.  The stars of the show are some of your 80's favorites: we have Night of the Comet's Kelli Maroney, Re-Animator's Barbara Crampton and a cameos from Mary Woronov and everybody's favorite extra, Dick Miller, in addition to Karrie Emerson, Russell Todd, Suzee Slater and John Terlesky.  This is definitely a snapshot of America in the 1980's, especially within the shopping mall setting that is all but obsolete these days. Jake also crashes the party as he asks us what is our favorite non-anthropomorphic robot.  So join us for a fun, albeit, inappropriate episode and let us know what you think!  If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes, please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com.  Kolobos 1999 - Indie horror | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:00:48

Hey goons! Let's talk independent horror this week on Slashers Podcast, where Ade and Mikey use their "Call Your Ghoulfriends" card to discuss 1999's Kolobos! This one is available on Tubi so we both highly recommend the watch. I know that as an Indie horror, it probably has some cringey, eye rolling moments, but it's also worth every second!  Demon Seed (1977) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:05:10

Happy Valentine's Day, all our Mutant Goons!  Welcome to another episode of our (Fe)bruary killer robot month where your hosts cover 1977's Demon Seed based upon the Dean Koontz novel of the same name.  The film is directed by Donald Cammell and stars Julie Christie, Fritz Weaver and Gerritt Graham, while Robert Vaughn voices the titular and evil Proteus. Don't let the decade for this film fool you, it will get under your skin and drag you along on a demented and cabin-fever-riddled ride, as it is about a rogue computer that infiltrates a smart house and forcefully impregnates the woman living there. Whoah--that was a fucking mouthful. Talk about romance on the most romantic day of the year! But hey, a lot of us use tiny machines for certain things, so there ya go.  We had a lot of fun recording this one and hope you enjoy it. Be sure to let us know your thoughts and if you have any other suggestions for the rest of February, let us know!  This week If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes,  please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com.  Child's Play (2019) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:08:59

Welcome to week 2 of our (Fe)Bruary Killer Robot horror month!  This week, join Jake and Ade as they discuss the killer doll slash droid reimagining of Child's Play -- that's right, Child's Play 2019!  While this was sacrilege, according to Ade, when it came out, we find that this actually a good, if not great, reimagining of Don Mancini's source material, and it does well with the gore and special effects. Directed by dreamy Lars Klevberg on a budge of $10 million, it grossed a whopping $45 million, and stars Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Tim Matheson, Gabriel Batemen and Chucky himself is voiced by the iconic Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill.  In this adaptation, Chucky is not possessed, and no, unfortunately we don't get a fun cameo from Brad Dourif, but what we do have is a droid that is programmed to be murderous. We get a lot of fun gore, a lot of what the fuck moments, and a nice little scene featuring our favorite Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2. Hope you all have as much fun listening as we did recording! This week If you ever have feedback or recommendations on future episodes,  please let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com.
