Today for our Patreon Pick, Doug, Jason and Ade talk about Cam’s choice, Strangeland from 1998.  Written and starring Twisted Sister’s Dee Snyder as the titular, tatted and pierced “Captain Howdy.” The film also stars a baby Linda Cardellini and Amy Smart, and follows a modern primitive psychopath who stalks young teens in chatrooms, kidnaps them, and tortures them with body modification. Robert Englund also makes an appearance, so it’s worth a watch if you still haven’t seen it. Hey Goons! Another new episode of Slashers Podcast is upon us.  This month is Patreon Pick February, so if you signed up in December or have been with us a long time, you got to pick your movie. Today’s Patreon Pick is from one of our long-time, most loyal listeners, Kevin, whom we absolutely adore.  Kevin chose 1982’s Creepshow, written by Stephen King and directed by George A Romero. This film is an anthology with 5 separate stories plus a wraparound story that stars Tom Atkins and King’s son and now famous author, Joe Hill!  The film itself has a star-studded cast who include Adrienne Barbeau, Leslie Nielson, Ted Danson, Hal Holbrook, Fritz Weaver, EG Marshall, Ed Harris, Stephen King, and Tom Savini.  In addition, Savini does all the gory, goopy and grisly practical effects.  Find out why we think this classic should be considered gateway horror for any new horror fan, as well as which segments were our favorites.  Let us know yours in the comments!! Another Monday of New Year, New Zealand is upon us here on Slashers Podcast!  Today's episode is yet another film by Peter Jackson, Meet the Feebles from 1989.  This is another film from what Doug likes to call Peter Jackson's "Trilogy of Trash," or his second feature length film (the first being Bad Taste and the last being Dead Alive).  The film follows a cast entirely made of puppets who experience the sleazier side of show business while working on a variety show.  This is basically parodying The Muppet Show, except there is blood, guts, bodily fluids, flashbacks of Nam and an M60 massacre to tie it altogether.  As absurd and raunchy as this flick is, find out why it's one of Doug's favorites!  Let us know  your thoughts on this one (currently streaming on Tubi). Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Goons!  Today's Monday and that means a brand new episode from your favorite horror podcast.  On this episode of our New Year, New Zealand theme, Mikey and Ade are joined by special guest, Austin, to talk about 1992's Dead Alive, written and directed by none other than Peter Jackson.  You may already know Peter Jackson from Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, and a little movie about a hobbit getting lost called Lord of the Rings.  He's also responsible for the 2005 remake of King Kong.  The only reason I mention Kong is that there are clear references to Skull Island at the beginning of Dead Alive, so we can clearly see that Jackson is inspired by the classic Universal monster when creating this film.  Dead Alive, aka Brain Dead in New Zealand and other parts of the world, follows our hero Lionel as his overbearing mother and notorious cock blocker, Vera, is bitten and infected by a Sumatran Rat Monkey.  Hijinks ensue, and the horror community is blessed with one of THE most gory, goopy, gross, bloody, disgusting horror comedies ever to crawl out of the 90s.  If you have not seen this film, please watch before listening, as there are a ton of spoilers, and we need you to make an informed opinion on this classic (as one of your hosts is not too keen on it.
