From Complex To Queens, Episode 174: One potential future | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2859

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. The Cyclone opened on this date in 1927, so the guys discuss it in Promote, Extend, Trade...kinda. Next, Steve, Ken, and Thomas discusses a fairly in-depth mock draft done by the good people at Baseball America. Baseball America mocked shortstop Cole Young and right-handed pitcher Gabriel Hughes to the Mets in the first round and right-handed pitcher Ben Joyce in the second round. How does that sound to you? After, the team give updates on the Syracuse Mets, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Brooklyn Cyclones, St. Lucie Mets, and Florida Complex League Mets. As always, you can listen or subscribe to the podcast through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. It really helps!  Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), Episode 100: Hapless in Houston | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2216

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. While the Mets looked solid against the Marlins over the weekend, the two-game series in Houston was not exactly pretty. Now, small sample size, injuries, and the backend of a hurt rotation all played a part in this, and Brian and Chris recognize this. Still, discussions of trade deadline acquisitions have begun. Chris’s Music Pick: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Nonagon Infinity Brian’s Music Pick: Ween - The Mollusk You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 130: A future with more Mark Canhas | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4384

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing the updates on various injured Mets and the impending return of Max Scherzer to the rotation. We also talk about the 13-pitcher roster rule coming into effect and Tommy Hunter’s return to the major leagues as the feel-good Mets story this week. Next, we talk about Pride Night at Citi Field, which Grace Carbone recently wrote about in a fantastic piece that we recommend you read. In particular, we discuss the allyship Mark Canha and Taijuan Walker showed with their full embrace of Pride and how refreshing that was to see. We also point to Megan Rapinoe as another example of what LGBTQ+ allyship looks like in sports. We also discuss the new “no politics” policy being implemented at The Athletic. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. Last week, Francisco Lindor virtually surprised Clemson commit Brock Porter of St. Mary’s Preparatory School with the 2021-22 Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year award. We had the chance to chat with both Francisco and Brock, and we are thrilled to bring those conversations to you. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

 UnforMETable, Episode 84: Jim Hickman | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1737

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Plucked from the Cardinals’ organization in the expansion draft, Jim Hickman would finally get an opportunity in the majors with New York’s brand new expansion franchise in 1962. Hickman would eventually become a regular for New York and an early source of some power—which he would flash in becoming the first Met to hit for the cycle, as well as the first Met to hit three home runs in one game. Hickman would be the last original Met to leave the team, eventually having some of his best individual seasons with the Chicago Cubs—but being denied a chance at the postseason when his former team would chase down the Cubs in 1969. The Mets beat the Brewers in two of three games, and the toughest stretch of the season thus far has come to a close. Brian and Chris reflect on the state of the team, the relative ease of the schedule going forward, the momentum of the Braves, and the beauty of avoiding losing streaks.  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 129: “I’m out of baseball now, so I feel safe.” | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4494

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by discussing the end of the Mets’ long West Coast roadtrip, which they managed to survive (mostly) unscathed. We also talk about the mostly good news the Mets have been getting on the injury front of late; reinforcements are on the way! Next, we express our disappointment with the Apple TV+ broadcast treating minor league living conditions like a joke and the Athletics organization for not giving some of their players under contract a paycheck since October.  We also talk about Britt Ghiroli’s excellent reporting on the story of Maura Sheridan—a minor league baseball announcer who reported a sexual assault she suffered at the hands of a player and the professional consequences she faced as a result of speaking out. UnforMETable, Episode 83: Alex Ochoa | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1895

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Alex Ochoa was the proverbial five tool prospect as he moved up through the Orioles organization, rising into the top half of Baseball America’s Top 100 Prospect List. The Mets held out for Ochoa as the prize when they moved Bobby Bonilla to the Orioles at the 1995 trade deadline. Ochoa’s arrival was heavily hyped, and he got off to a strong start in the middle of 1996—notably hitting for a cycle early in his career. But he never quite lived up to the hype, fizzling out but winding up his career as a backup outfielder for the 2002 World Champion Angels.  From Complex To Queens, Episode 172: We have a minor complex | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3604

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. Steve and Family kind of had an oops Sunday morning. It made him think of some of the biggest baseball oopses, so the team looks at baseball blunders in Promote, Extend, Trade. After, gives updates on the remaining Way-Too-Early Draft Special players of interest still playing, and review a pair of recently released mock drafts. Following that, the guys give updates on the Syracuse Mets, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Brooklyn Cyclones, St. Lucie Mets, and Florida Complex League Mets. Lastly, with the FCL Mets and Dominican Summer League Mets seasons beginning, the team takes a look at some of the players to know on those rosters.  Amazin' Avenue Audio (The Show), Episode 98: Bassitt Sours in So. Cal | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2098

Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. The Mets are hanging out in So. Cal, and so far, the trip has been a mixed bag. The Mets are 3-4 against the Dodgers and Padres, had a couple of really poor games, but also avoided major injuries, and split the series with the best team in the National League. Brian and Chris, predictably, aren’t panicking yet, and are looking forward to the imminent return of Tylor Megill. Chris’s Music Pick: Brad Mehldau - Live in Tokyo Brian’s Music Pick: Sons of Kemet - Your Queen is a Reptile You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.  A Pod of Their Own, Episode 128: Big Man Opinions | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4020

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by continuing to celebrate the 2022 Mets, who seem to create new season highlights every day. This week, it was the first Met to hit for a cycle in ten years in Eduardo Escobar. Stuff that would have been a weeks-long LOLMets story in the past, such as Lindor slamming his finger in a door or Max Scherzer getting bitten by his dog, are rolling right off the backs of this team.  Next, we talk about some members of the Tampa Bay Rays opting not to wear the rainbow-colored logos on their uniforms for the team’s Pride celebration and giving a very crappy justification for it.  We also get very excited for the upcoming A League of Their Own miniseries premiering on Amazon Prime in August. From Complex To Queens, Episode 171: May Report Card | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4628

Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin’ Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets’ minor league system. On this date back in 1956, Elvis Presley performed on the Milton Berle Show and it was shocking (at the time) to say the least. In honor of that, the team looks at other shocking musical perfomances in Promote, Extend, Trade. After, gives updates on the remaining Way-Too-Early Draft Special players of interest still playing, and review a pair of recently released mock drafts. Following that, the guys give updates on the Syracuse Mets, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Brooklyn Cyclones, and St. Lucie Mets. And finally, the guys take a look at how the system’s top prospects have done with one month in the books and highlight some non-top-25 players who have risen to the occasion.  UnforMETable, Episode 82: Mike Fitzgerald | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1414

Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin’ Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Mike Fitzgerald was a promising young catching prospect who steadily worked his way up through the minors at a time when the Mets’ farm system was brimming with talent, playing alongside prospects such as Darryl Strawberry, Ron Darling, and Wally Backman. Fitzgerald homered in his first major league at bat in September 1983 and secured the full time catching job for a young 1984 Mets squad that turned the franchise’s major league fortunes around. He looked like a key piece of an up-and-coming team—until a future Hall of Fame catcher in Montreal became available. Welcome to Amazin’ Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin’ Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. The Mets are riding high after a six game sweep of the Phillies and Nationals, and are starting their 10-game west coast swing with a 10.5 game lead in the National League East. Brian and Chris discuss enjoying the good times, a lack of worry about the road trip, and the demotion of a beloved player.
