It’s a great week for all age comic books, especially if you’re one of the millions of Dog Man fans out there. Dog Man: Fetch 22 is out this week and it looks to continue on the heart and emotion that the previous release put forth. Seriously, if you think that this series is all about fart jokes you’re wrong. It’s got nothing but positive messages, humor and it also makes elementary age children want to read, plus a couple fart jokes or gassy metaphors. If you’re in middle or high school check out Battle For Britain. Artist Sam Glanzman does a perfect job of creating a narrative that’s educational and entertaining, without making light of the subject matter. This features four comic book length stories about a series of decisive days from WWII. Scroll down to see the complete list and check out the podcast for an in-depth listen to why we like some of these all age comic books.  All Age Comic Books for November 6 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 14:26

It’s a great week for all age comic books. The 500 pound gorilla in kidlit arrives with its latest installment. While Diary of a Wimpy Kid Wrecking Ball is not a comic book, it’s such a big deal for elementary and middle school readers it merits mentioning here. Those ages won’t care about the plot, they’ll just want new adventures from the Heffley family. There are also some great releases from Marvel Action on IDW Publishing, a massive 100 page release from Teen Titans Go! and more.  All age comic books for January 16 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 16:43

New comic book day, it’s every Wednesday and this week has some great releases. There are some books this week that are perfect for pre-K readers!  Granted they are Golden Books, but did you know that they produced some jamming, fun books that geeklings would like to have read to them? We’ll cover that, as well as, Science Comics, Dogman, Showtime at the Apollo, a great 60’s mash-up and more in the podcast and Youtube. For now let’s look at three great new releases that are perfect for readers in upper middle school and up. Science Comics: Polar Bears Science Comics are a regular series of original graphic novels from :01 First Second Books. Each one of these releases is as entertaining as they are educational, but don’t tell some younger readers that. Science Comics: Polar Bears is told from the perspective of two polar bear cubs as they navigate the tundra that is their home. The story that they weave is all true, with some biology, climate science and anatomy in there, plus more jokes than you would expect. I love this series. Our 9  year-old is a bit too young to really enjoy them; but if you have a middle school reader or up they will really enjoy this fun and subversively educational graphic novel. Star Trek Vs. Transformers #4 The Star Trek Vs. Transformers mini-series has really lived up to the buzz. It puts the crew of Enterprise in no-man’s land as the Klingons have teamed up with the Decepticons. The Autobots and Captain Kirk (of course) aren’t far behind to save the day, upstage Spock and possibly kiss the girl (or robot). Surprisingly, this mini-series really resonated with our 9 year-old. He did not know the mythology of the characters, but he loved the art and could easily read the story. This comic book and mini-series are OK for readers 8 and up. Those younger will be fine with the content, just unable to read the words needed to get the most from the plot. Lumberjanes #58 Pick up any issue of Lumberjanes and it’s all but guaranteed to be awesome. With equal parts humor, science-fiction and fantasy, this series about the world’s coolest summer camp, Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady Types, is fun for any reader. The main characters are Jo, April, Molly, Mal and Ripley, they’re all girls and given the name of the camp it’ll probably skew more towards girls than boys. Between the art, the unpredictable stories of yetis, friendships and lake monsters this is great fun and OK for ages 8 and up.   Humor document.write(decodeURIComponent('%3Cscript%3E(function(htm)%7B%0D%0Afunction%20%24id()%7B%0D%0Avar%20id%3D%27ShareASale-%27%2BMath.random().toString(36).substr(2).toUpperCase()%3B%0D%0Areturn%20document.getElementById(id)%3F%24id()%3Aid%3B%0D%0A%7D%0D%0Avar%20ifr%2Cdoc%2Cid%20%3D%20%24id()%3B%0D%0Adocument.write(%27%3Ciframe%20id%3D%22%27%2Bid%2B%27%22%20src%3D%22about%3Ablank%22%20scrolling%3D%22no%22%20style%3D%22border%3A0%3Boverflow%3Ahidden%3Bbackground%3Atransparent%3Bwidth%3A100%25%3B%22%3E%3C%2Fiframe%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Aifr%20%3D%20document.getElementById(id)%3B%0D%0Adoc%20%3D%20ifr.contentDocument%7C%7Cifr.contentWindow.document%3B%0D%0Adoc.open()%3B%0D%0Adoc.write(%27%3C!DOCTYPE%20html%3E%3Chtml%3E%3Cmeta%20charset%3D%22UTF-8%22%3E%3Cbody%20style%3D%22height%3A100%25%3Bmargin%3A0%3Bpadding%3A0%3Bfont-family%3Asans-serif%3Bfont-size%3A12pt%3B%22%3E%27%2Bhtm%2B%27%3C%2Fbody%3E%3C%2Fhtml%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Adoc.close()%3B%0D%0Awindow.setTimeout((%0D%0Afunction(I%2CD)%7B%0D%0Avar%20s%3D%20I.

All age comic books for November 7 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 11:05

Happy NCBD and this week has some great ones that will entertain all age comic book readers as young as 6. That is mainly due to one classic comic book about ponies, who are little, live in Equestria and can fly, we’re looking at you My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Over on  Youtube and in the podcast we’ll chat about Peanuts, Tiger vs. Nightmare, Steven Universe and more. Now let’s look at three comic books that will entertain a wide variety of readers in upper elementary school and up. Doctor Who 13th, #1 The new doctor, Doctor Who, the 13th Doctor, that’s who. Doctor Who 13th, #1 is out and it’s the all new doc played by Jodie Whittaker. Some things are the same, but she’s got three new traveling companions and the TARDIS is still most certainly bigger on the inside. The content will be OK with upper elementary school kids, but might require too much reading and focus for some of them. Ducktales, #14 Sometimes Disney’s Ducktales on IDW Publishing enter into a two-part story and this is the first part of one. Kids love Disney with a little more ‘edge’ and that’s exactly what Ducktales allows them. Younger readers will be attracted to the content-and it is OK for them to consume. However, the reading and vocabulary that’s required to fully enjoy Ducktales will be too much for those who aren’t in third grade to enjoy on their own. Steven Universe Harmony #4 This past Halloween a couple of the really cool kids dressed as characters from Steven Universe. Steven Universe Harmony is a mini-series set in the Steven Universe world that’s worth exploring if you’re a fan of the Crystal Gems. This is a great television series (from Cartoon Network) and comic book from Boom! Studios. The content is OK for upper elementary school kids, but they might not appreciate it as much as they would if they were two grades older.   Humor document.write(decodeURIComponent('%3Cscript%3E(function(htm)%7B%0D%0Afunction%20%24id()%7B%0D%0Avar%20id%3D%27ShareASale-%27%2BMath.random().toString(36).substr(2).toUpperCase()%3B%0D%0Areturn%20document.getElementById(id)%3F%24id()%3Aid%3B%0D%0A%7D%0D%0Avar%20ifr%2Cdoc%2Cid%20%3D%20%24id()%3B%0D%0Adocument.write(%27%3Ciframe%20id%3D%22%27%2Bid%2B%27%22%20src%3D%22about%3Ablank%22%20scrolling%3D%22no%22%20style%3D%22border%3A0%3Boverflow%3Ahidden%3Bbackground%3Atransparent%3Bwidth%3A100%25%3B%22%3E%3C%2Fiframe%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Aifr%20%3D%20document.getElementById(id)%3B%0D%0Adoc%20%3D%20ifr.contentDocument%7C%7Cifr.contentWindow.document%3B%0D%0Adoc.open()%3B%0D%0Adoc.write(%27%3C!DOCTYPE%20html%3E%3Chtml%3E%3Cmeta%20charset%3D%22UTF-8%22%3E%3Cbody%20style%3D%22height%3A100%25%3Bmargin%3A0%3Bpadding%3A0%3Bfont-family%3Asans-serif%3Bfont-size%3A12pt%3B%22%3E%27%2Bhtm%2B%27%3C%2Fbody%3E%3C%2Fhtml%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Adoc.close()%3B%0D%0Awindow.setTimeout((%0D%0Afunction(I%2CD)%7B%0D%0Avar%20s%3D%20I.style%2C%20%0D%0Ab%20%3D%20doc.body%3B%0D%0As.width%20%3D%20b.scrollWidth%20%2B%20%27px%27%3B%0D%0As.height%20%3D%20b.scrollHeight%20%2B%20%27px%27%3B%0D%0A%7D%0D%0A).bind(null%2C%20ifr%2C%20doc)%2C200)%3B%0D%0A%7D)(decodeURIComponent(%27%253Ca%2520target%253D%2522_blank%2522%2520href%253D%2522https%253A%252F%252Fshareasale.com%252Fm-pr.cfm%253Fmerchantid%253D8908%2526amp%253Buserid%253D1034575%2526amp%253Bproductid%253D809273566%2526amp%253Bafftrack%253D%2522%2520style%253D%2522display%253Ainline-block%253Bborder-radius%253A2em%253Bborder%253A2pt%2520dashed%2520%252399E%253Bbackground%253Awhite%253Btext-decoration%253Anone%253B%2522%253E%253Ctable%2520style%253D%2522border-collapse%253Acollapse%253Bborder%253A0%253Bwidth%253Aauto%253Btext-align%253Aleft%253B%2522%253E%253Ctbody%253E%253Ctr%253E%253Ctd%2520style%253D%2522vertical-align%253Atop%253Bpadding%253A1em%253Bborder%253A0%253B%2522%253E%25...

All Age Comic Books for October 24 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:56

Comics! Over in the podcast we’ll talk about Blastosaurus, Foxtrot, Scooby and more. For now though let’s look at three nice all age comic books (or graphic novels…) that will interest readers in elementary school and up. Phoebe and Her Unicorn in Unicorn Theater The odds are strong that your elementary school student knows Phoebe and Her Unicorn. Most of the time Phoebe is in comic strip form, with the individual three or four panel strips telling the story. Phoebe and Her Unicorn in Unicorn Theater is the second graphic novel from Dana Simpson. The difference is that this story featuring Phoebe and Her Unicorn is encapsulated. Unicorn Theater is an original graphic novel and if you don’t know Phoebe she’s worth getting to know as anybody will relate to her. Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is a great monthly comic book from Marvel Comics. Ignore the T rating on this comic book and let it loose one those readers who are 8 and up. This is great monster, dinosaur fun with a side dose of middle school drama. Star Wars Tales From Vader’s Castle Star Wars Adventures with a sprinkling of all age horror? Count us in for this mini-series that’s happening this month only. Jump in now for issue #4, catch the final issue next week or the graphic novel when they’re all collected and readers who are 8 and up will love them.   Humor document.write(decodeURIComponent('%3Cscript%3E(function(htm)%7B%0D%0Afunction%20%24id()%7B%0D%0Avar%20id%3D%27ShareASale-%27%2BMath.random().toString(36).substr(2).toUpperCase()%3B%0D%0Areturn%20document.getElementById(id)%3F%24id()%3Aid%3B%0D%0A%7D%0D%0Avar%20ifr%2Cdoc%2Cid%20%3D%20%24id()%3B%0D%0Adocument.write(%27%3Ciframe%20id%3D%22%27%2Bid%2B%27%22%20src%3D%22about%3Ablank%22%20scrolling%3D%22no%22%20style%3D%22border%3A0%3Boverflow%3Ahidden%3Bbackground%3Atransparent%3Bwidth%3A100%25%3B%22%3E%3C%2Fiframe%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Aifr%20%3D%20document.getElementById(id)%3B%0D%0Adoc%20%3D%20ifr.contentDocument%7C%7Cifr.contentWindow.document%3B%0D%0Adoc.open()%3B%0D%0Adoc.write(%27%3C!DOCTYPE%20html%3E%3Chtml%3E%3Cmeta%20charset%3D%22UTF-8%22%3E%3Cbody%20style%3D%22height%3A100%25%3Bmargin%3A0%3Bpadding%3A0%3Bfont-family%3Asans-serif%3Bfont-size%3A12pt%3B%22%3E%27%2Bhtm%2B%27%3C%2Fbody%3E%3C%2Fhtml%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Adoc.close()%3B%0D%0Awindow.setTimeout((%0D%0Afunction(I%2CD)%7B%0D%0Avar%20s%3D%20I.style%2C%20%0D%0Ab%20%3D%20doc.body%3B%0D%0As.width%20%3D%20b.scrollWidth%20%2B%20%27px%27%3B%0D%0As.height%20%3D%20b.scrollHeight%20%2B%20%27px%27%3B%0D%0A%7D%0D%0A).bind(null%2C%20ifr%2C%20doc)%2C200)%3B%0D%0A%7D)(decodeURIComponent(%27%253Ca%2520target%253D%2522_blank%2522%2520href%253D%2522https%253A%252F%252Fshareasale.com%252Fr.cfm%253Fb%253D44882%2526amp%253Bu%253D1034575%2526amp%253Bm%253D8908%2526amp%253Burllink%253Dhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww%25252Etfaw%25252Ecom%25252FGraphic%25252DNovels%25252FProfile%25252FArchie%25252D%2525257Cand%2525257C%25252DMe%25252DTPB%25252DVol%25252D01%25255F%25255F%25255F580959%2526amp%253Bafftrack%253D%2522%2520style%253D%2522display%253Ainline-block%253Bborder-radius%253A2em%253Bborder%253A2pt%2520dashed%2520%252399E%253Bbackground%253Awhite%253Btext-decoration%253Anone%253B%2522%253E%253Ctable%2520style%253D%2522border-collapse%253Acollapse%253Bborder%253A0%253Bwidth%253Aauto%253Btext-align%253Aleft%253B%2522%253E%253Ctbody%253E%253Ctr%253E%253Ctd%2520style%253D%2522vertical-align%253Atop%253Bpadding%253A1em%253Bborder%253A0%253B%2522%253E%253Cimg%2520src%253D%2522https%253A%252F%252Fd2lzb5v10mb0lj.cloudfront.net%252Fcovers_tfaw%252F400%252FAU%252FAUG181589.jpg%2522%2520style%253D%2522max-width%253A12em%253Bmax-height%253A12em%253Bborder%253A0%253B%2522%253E%253C%252Ftd%253E%253Ctd%2520style%253D%2522padding%253A1em%253Bvertical-align%253Atop%253Bborder%253A0%253B%2522%253E%253Cspan%2520style%253D%2522display%253Ablock%253Bposition%253Arelative%253Bpadding%253A1em%253Bbackground%253A...

All age comic books for October 17 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:28

Wow. If the all age comic books were a meal then this week’s selection would be a buffet. Some weeks are certainly better and more packed with quality than others and this is one of the high weeks. From single issue comic books, collected books of comic strips and original graphic novels there is something for boys or girls as young as 5. Over in the podcast we’ll go deep on two Nightmare Before Christmas offerings, the latest in the Hazardous Tales series by Nathan Hales, Science Comics: The Brain, the 35th collection of Adult Time comic strips and more. In the meantime here are three comic books that are well worth your money and reading time this week. Simpsons Comics #245 Don’t get emotionally attached. Don’t get emotionally attached. I said this when Plants Vs. Zombies ended their comic book run also. With issue #245 Simpsons Comics ends its monthly run as one of the best all age comic books around. Much like Spongebob Comic ended last week, their publisher is taking a break. That’s a vague and possibly inspiring statement. Maybe they’ll be back with seasonal issues or new graphic novels, but for now catch the final issue of Simpsons Comics and see why it was so fabulous. Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir TPB, Santa Claws For our 9 year old Miraculous is the boomerang series. It keeps coming back. He loved it when he was 6, fell out of love for a year and then somewhere in the summer of his 8th year he watched it again. The comic book follows an identical path to the series. Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, Santa Claw is a trade paperback priced at $6.99. Santa get akumatized by Hawk Moth-can Lady Bug and Cat Noir save Christmas? Kids 5 and up who like Miraculous will really enjoy this and it’ll get them reading. Star Wars Tales from Vader’s Castle #2 (of #5) We’re big fans of Star Wars Adventures, the monthly series from IDW Publishing. From its title, Star Wars Tales from Vader’s Castle seemed like it would be too old for an all age title, but it’s not. Issue 1 was lots of fun and it put a nice, spooky touch on the Star Wars mythos. Star Wars Tales from Vader’s Castle is a weekly series in October. You can jump in on issue #2 this week or gather all of them in a collected edition in late November. This is a Star Wars vehicle that ages 5 and up will be OK with and older kids will enjoy it just as much. It doesn’t dumb down the content. Rather, it’s a great story with fabulous art, that doesn’t have to make the story older in order to attract an audience.   Humor document.write(decodeURIComponent('%3Cscript%3E(function(htm)%7B%0D%0Afunction%20%24id()%7B%0D%0Avar%20id%3D%27ShareASale-%27%2BMath.random().toString(36).substr(2).toUpperCase()%3B%0D%0Areturn%20document.getElementById(id)%3F%24id()%3Aid%3B%0D%0A%7D%0D%0Avar%20ifr%2Cdoc%2Cid%20%3D%20%24id()%3B%0D%0Adocument.write(%27%3Ciframe%20id%3D%22%27%2Bid%2B%27%22%20src%3D%22about%3Ablank%22%20scrolling%3D%22no%22%20style%3D%22border%3A0%3Boverflow%3Ahidden%3Bbackground%3Atransparent%3Bwidth%3A100%25%3B%22%3E%3C%2Fiframe%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Aifr%20%3D%20document.getElementById(id)%3B%0D%0Adoc%20%3D%20ifr.contentDocument%7C%7Cifr.contentWindow.document%3B%0D%0Adoc.open()%3B%0D%0Adoc.write(%27%3C!DOCTYPE%20html%3E%3Chtml%3E%3Cmeta%20charset%3D%22UTF-8%22%3E%3Cbody%20style%3D%22height%3A100%25%3Bmargin%3A0%3Bpadding%3A0%3Bfont-family%3Asans-serif%3Bfont-size%3A12pt%3B%22%3E%27%2Bhtm%2B%27%3C%2Fbody%3E%3C%2Fhtml%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Adoc.close()%3B%0D%0Awindow.setTimeout((%0D%0Afunction(I%2CD)%7B%0D%0Avar%20s%3D%20I.style%2C%20%0D%0Ab%20%3D%20doc.body%3B%0D%0As.width%20%3D%20b.scrollWidth%20%2B%20%27px%27%3B%0D%0As.height%20%3D%20b.scrollHeight%20%2B%20%27px%27%3B%0D%0A%7D%0D%0A).bind(null%2C%20ifr%2C%20doc)%2C200)%3B%0D%0A%7D)(decodeURIComponent...

Happy new comic book day and this week we’re celebrating with some great and groovy all age comic books that will interest readers as young as 6. For the 5 year-old readers My Little Pony Ponyville Mysteries is out this week also. In the podcast we’ll talk about Star Trek, Star Wars, Amulet, Archie/Batman and more. For now though let’s look at three new all age comic books that will hammer home the joy of reading to those in second grade and up. Looney Tunes #245 Looney Tunes is a great comic book series. It’s only $2.99 and each issue is funny, classic and OK for kids in elementary school and up. Some of the vocabulary might be too difficult for younger kids, but they’ll laugh at the pictures, know the characters and discover that reading is fun. Looney Tunes #245 has original stories with characters that everyone in your house knows.  If your child’s elementary school doesn’t have a subscription to this comic book they should because every kid in the school wants to read it. DC Super Hero Girls, Search For Atlantis The DC Super Hero Girls series of graphic novels are incredibly entertaining. It’s a look at the DCU girl heroes (and villains) as teen-aged girls who are at the same school. This is a graphic novel, all original and lots of fun for readers who are 7 and up.  Parents will also love their price point. DC Super Hero Girls, Search For Atlantis is only $9.99 if you buy it retail. Blastosarus #2 The first issue of Blastosaurus far exceeded our expectations. Blastoaurus is about a crime fighting dinosaur and his new human friends. It has action, heart and humor that will surpass what your expectations are too. This is fun reading that captures just how cool and fun and all age comic book can be. Any age can read this and be thoroughly entertained. Blastosaurus #2 retails for $3.99 and can be found at your local comic book store.  All age comic books for September 19 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:41

Happy new comic book day! This week has a massive variety of graphic novels, books and all age comic books that are coming to your local stores. You’re the parent to a two year-old who wants to read about Aquaman? Maybe that same child wants to read about The Incredibles? You’re a middle school student who loves Star Vs. The Forces of Evil and want to dig deep into her world? Maybe you love the classics and want to read some Big Nate; this is your week, so read on or check out the podcast for an in-depth look at some of them. Hilda and the Hidden People Up until this month Hilda has only been in Luke Pearson’s beautiful books. This month has Hilda coming to Netflix and in her first middle school book, Hilda and the Hidden People. This is a book that upper elementary school will love. Each chapter is approximately seven pages, with some pages having the classic, distinctive art that Pearson has been doing for years with this character. His illustrated books are works of art that children can enjoy. This series of books takes that world and spells it out deeper for those kids that want to read about it more. The second book in this series, Hilda and the Great Parade comes out in January 2019. Get used to seeing this series in elementary and middle school libraries if you’re not in the know about Hilda yet. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Adventures, Captain Marvel First Day of School Captain Marvel meets Spider-Man in an all age comic book about the first day of school? Two of Marvel Comics go-to heroes team up for a one-shot issue about team work, exploring new things and growing up. At $3.99 this is one of those comic books that age 5 and up can read, enjoy the action and learn a thing or two, just don’t tell them that. Big Nate Goes Bananas! Big Nate has graduated from college. Not really, but the character, Big Nate has been sharing stories of middle school chaos for over 25 years now. This is classic stuff and Big Nate Goes Bananas! provides full color page after page of laughs, grins and some deep belly laughs that will make your children look at you funny. Moreover, Big Nate is a great example of 4-panel brilliance and simplicity. Sometimes it’s sublime, occasionally it’s bittersweet, quite often hilarious and always entertaining, this is Big Nate Goes Bananas!   Humor document.write(decodeURIComponent('%3Cscript%3E(function(htm)%7B%0D%0Afunction%20%24id()%7B%0D%0Avar%20id%3D%27ShareASale-%27%2BMath.random().toString(36).substr(2).toUpperCase()%3B%0D%0Areturn%20document.getElementById(id)%3F%24id()%3Aid%3B%0D%0A%7D%0D%0Avar%20ifr%2Cdoc%2Cid%20%3D%20%24id()%3B%0D%0Adocument.write(%27%3Ciframe%20id%3D%22%27%2Bid%2B%27%22%20src%3D%22about%3Ablank%22%20scrolling%3D%22no%22%20style%3D%22border%3A0%3Boverflow%3Ahidden%3Bbackground%3Atransparent%3Bwidth%3A100%25%3B%22%3E%3C%2Fiframe%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Aifr%20%3D%20document.getElementById(id)%3B%0D%0Adoc%20%3D%20ifr.contentDocument%7C%7Cifr.contentWindow.document%3B%0D%0Adoc.open()%3B%0D%0Adoc.write(%27%3C!DOCTYPE%20html%3E%3Chtml%3E%3Cmeta%20charset%3D%22UTF-8%22%3E%3Cbody%20style%3D%22height%3A100%25%3Bmargin%3A0%3Bpadding%3A0%3Bfont-family%3Asans-serif%3Bfont-size%3A12pt%3B%22%3E%27%2Bhtm%2B%27%3C%2Fbody%3E%3C%2Fhtml%3E%27)%3B%0D%0Adoc.close()%3B%0D%0Awindow.setTimeout((%0D%0Afunction(I%2CD)%7B%0D%0Avar%20s%3D%20I.style%2C%20%0D%0Ab%20%3D%20doc.body%3B%0D%0As.width%20%3D%20b.scrollWidth%20%2B%20%27px%27%3B%0D%0As.height%20%3D%20b.scrollHeight%20%2B%20%27px%27%3B%0D%0A%7D%0D%0A).bind(null%2C%20ifr%2C%20doc)%2C200)%3B%0D%0A%7D)(decodeURIComponent(%27%253Ca%2520target%253D%2522_blank%2522%2520href%253D%2522https%253A%252F%252Fshareasale.com%252Fm-pr.cfm%253Fmerchantid%253D8908%2526amp%253Buserid%253D1034575%2526amp%253Bproductid%253D795706331%2526amp%253Bafftrack%253...

All age comic books for September 12 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 18:07

Happy new comic book day! Every Wednesday lots of new comic books hit you local stores and in that lot are dozen of great all age comic books. These all age comic books will be OK for readers as young as five. They also span any interest that you can think of-one of them will certainly register with readers in elementary, middle or high school. In the podcast we’ll go in depth and take a look at Plants vs. Zombies, Henri’s Hats, Mech Cadet Yu, an all age Venom comic book and more. For now let’s look at three all age comic books that will interest readers as young as five. Disney Frozen: Breaking Boundaries #2 If there’s someone in the house that likes Disney Frozen they’ll love this comic book. Disney Frozen: Breaking Boundaries is a mini-series on Dark Horse Comics that comes from the same heart and soul as the animated film and its sister comic book, Frozen, that’s published monthly. In this issue Anna and a new friend try their hand at different jobs while Elsa investigates a mystery that is happening deep in the wood. The vocabulary is a bit much for kids who are 5 to read by themselves, but they’ll enjoy the art and lessons within the comic book. Ages 7 and up will be able to read Disney Frozen: Breaking Boundaries without any assistance and can get their WDW groove on that way. Venom Adventures Digest What if Peter Parker was wearing the alien symbiote suit? Now what if he did that and the tales were captured in a format for all age comic books? Venom Adventures Digest does just that by collecting previously published stories from Marvel Adventures Spider-Man and Marvel Universe Ultimate Spider-Man. This is an all age story about Venom. You read that right. It seems as likely as an all age story with Deadpool, but this comic book makes it work and it makes sense. Even the Marvel team-up with Phineas & Ferb had Venom in the mix. It’s just that most of his stories are not for kids, this one is great fun that ages 6 and up will enjoy. Voltron Legendary Defender, Vol. 3, #3 I wish I had time to watch Voltron on Netflix. The episodes that I’ve seen are action-packed, have great stories, enough humor to bridge the gaps and are perfect for kids 7 and up that dig science-fiction. The comic book from Lion Forge doesn’t mess with the success from the show at all. Voltron is all age comic book fun for those kids who want a smart comic book that’s perfect for kids, but doesn’t dumb down the story or packaging for them.  All age comic books for September 5 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 17:08

Variety! This week in all age comic books is jammed with variety. From the STEM minded tween, the sight word pony fans and middle school superheroes, there’s something for any kid aged 5 and up. In the podcast we’ll talk in detail about the new Dog Man, Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero’s Journey , Kitten Construction Company, Daredevil, Dinosaur-a Photicular book and more. For now let’s look at the Kitten Construction Company A construction company that’s helmed by kittens and written by the author of Hippopatmister? Kitten Construction Company is great silly fun by John Patrick Green and appropriate for ages 5 and up. Those younger ages will need help reading it, while 7 and up should be able to read it by themselves. Marmalade is a kitten who is never given a chance because she’s too cute. But, she’s also a trained architect, so she teams up with some other kittens to form Kitten Construction Company. This graphic novel has more going for it than cute drawings of kittens and feline puns. There are some lessons kids can learn as they laugh along the way. Kitten Construction Company is from :01 First Second books. James Bond Origin We want to love this and look forward to reading it. James Bond Origin is a mini-series from Dynamite Entertainment about a young James Bond who wants to make a difference in the early days of WWII. There’s a new British government service that’s being formed and he might be just the man to take part in it. Take my money. As a child I read most of the James Bond books, granted they were screenplays, but they were still books. James Bond Origin has aspects of Ian Fleming’s real-life experience as a naval intelligence officer, but is firmly rooted in 007. This is a comic book that’ll be great for middle school students who like to read, can handle a layered plot and want to dig into another layer of an iconic character. If I were 12 years old this would be my jam. Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories, #743 If you’re looking for oversized Disney fun, then Walt Disney’s Comics & Stories #743 is for you. This comic book is great for any age to look at and enjoy, but the reading in this series makes it good for ages 8 and up to read by themselves. This is thick, retails for $5.99 and has at least two stories that’ll entertain the Disney kids as you plan your next trip to Orlando.
