Derek Prince Legacy Radio 15 Minute Format

Today we will look at this command to love and the example Jesus gave His disciples. They were charged to love each other just as He had loved them. This is how the world will know that we are truly Christians. Derek then speaks to Christians who are called to teach or to preach, as he stresses that the biblical goal of their instruction should be love.

Derek begins this study on revival by looking at some statements of Jesus relating to the importance of the law and how to fulfill it. What is “the righteous requirement of the law” written about in Scripture? It is love—to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. Are you prepared to fulfill the law?

Today Derek finishes this study on the topic of love by using the active definition and command Jesus gave to His disciples. “Love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” By this we know that we are to prefer others before ourselves. This is love taking on flesh.

Today Derek examines the character of love—how it behaves in everyday life. Looking at the verses in 1 Corinthians 13, “the love chapter,” we find how love behaves—what it does and does not do. Love is not insecure, so it does not make a display of itself. It is infinitely strong and can stand any pressure, face any situation. Love can meet any challenge, and love never gives up.

Reading from 1 Corinthians 13, Derek comments on the importance of love. Without love we are nothing. Regardless of all of our giftings, no matter what we do, if it is not borne out of love it will not accomplish the fullness of what it was meant to do. All we do must be done in faith to empower the action of love.

Today we examine the perfect law of liberty, the law of love. The entire Law is wrapped up in these: If we love God and love our neighbors as we love ourselves. If we will put these two commands into practice, we will not break any law. The end purpose of the New Testament is precisely the same as the Old, but it takes the love of God in Christ to fulfill it.

How does God’s agape love work in our lives? Derek helps us to see that we cannot move in God’s love until it has first been birthed within us by the Holy Spirit. Then, as we get to know the One who has given us this love, we can come to know and experience God’s love in our lives. There is much more to it than we can imagine, but eventually it will flow out from us to others.

Derek speaks about the relationship between the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, who is the author of the Word. The Holy Spirit directed men to write it, and He knows just what it means. He will also reveal it to us if we will but ask Him. The Holy Spirit never contradicts Himself. He never teaches anything that is contrary to the Word which He Himself gave.

Today Derek explains that the Holy Spirit can do for us what no other can do. Power, might, and sound judgment can be produced only by the Holy Spirit through His inward working in our hearts and lives, where He changes us and conforms us to the likeness of Jesus.

In today’s study, Derek looks at the relationship between Jesus and the Holy Spirit, which is a key to the entire ministry of Jesus. Jesus did nothing until the Holy Spirit came upon Him and then waited for the Holy Spirit’s direction all things. This is a perfect example for how we are to live, taking on the nature of lamb to attract the dove, the Holy Spirit.

Derek emphasizes that the Holy Spirit is a person, the third person of the Godhead. He is just as much a person as God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son are. He was sent to be with us forever and we need to acknowledge His presence and Lordship over our lives.

In this new series Derek is concerned with our learning how to be led by the Holy Spirit so we may become mature sons of God. When we are born from above by Him, we enter as babes, children of God, destined to become sons. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to lead us in this venture, so we need to get to know Him.

Derek begins this study on the Resurrection explaining that the gospel consists of three historical facts: Christ died, He was buried, and He rose again. On this basis, Christianity differs from other major religions—and Derek shows how and why they are different.

Derek finishes this study with steps leading to attaining the fear of the Lord. The first is to make a decision to seek it, and turn yourself over to the Holy Spirit, your Teacher. God has put men in the body of Christ to teach and rule—let them into your life. Let the Word have first place in you. Study and be a doer of the Word of God.
