Space Game Junkie Episode #122 – Lord of Rigel | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:03:44

On this week’s episode of the podcast, Jim and I sit down with designers Adam and James Rorabaugh of Rhombus Studios to talk about their upcoming 4X space strategy game, Lord of Rigel. LoR strives to bridge the gap between the classic 4Xs of old that everyone loves and that many 4X devs aspire to, with more modern sensibilities, and it looks like it’s coming along wonderfully, as even in this very, very early phase of the game, it feels like something pretty dang special. It’s a great talk about the game itself, game design in general, preparation for their Kickstarter campaign, some Freespace stuff (since one of the designers worked on both Descent Freespace: The Silent Threat expansion and the amazing total conversion Diaspora) and more! Join us next week when we’ll sit down with the developer of the recently released early access strategy combat game, Galactic Conquerers. Thanks as always for watching and listening, and we’ll see you next week!

SGJ Podcast #111 – Special Edition – A Chat with Starfighter Inc/X-Wing Series Legend David Wessman | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:50:27

Hey folks, welcome to this special edition of the Space Game Junkie Podcast! In this episode, Jim (sadly neither Hunter nor I were able to attend) was able to track down and have a conversation with David Wessman, who is currently Kickstarting a multiplayer space arena combat game called Starfighter Inc. Possibly more notably, Mr. Wessman worked on the entire series of X-Wing games back in the day, covering gameplay, mission and story design (so we can blame him on that one X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter mission we’re stuck on ;). What results is a conversation about Starships Inc, TIE Fighter, the lore around the Star Wars games he worked on and much more. The Kickstarter is about to end as I write this, so if you like what you hear, please head on over and check it out. Thanks for listening, and have a great weekend!

It was a really fun show, ultimately. As always, we welcome your suggestions and critiques at hail@spacegamejunkie.com!
