 ARP 026 – Beretta ARX100 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 37:01

Welcome to episode #26 of the AR15 Podcast.  I’m your host Steve from Gun Guy Radio riding solo this episode. This is THEE podcast about your favorite black rifle! This show is for you; whether you're building your first AR or you’ve been building ARs for years. There’s something we can all do to take our black rifle to the next level. Coming to you shortly after this most recent memorial day.  I hope you enjoyed your day and spent it remembering those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for this country in your own special way.  A special remembrance for Special Agents Lee Hitchcock, Raymond Round, Rick Ulbright, Daniel Kuhlmeier, Ryan Balmer, Matthew Kuglics, David Wieger, Nathan Schuldheiss, Thomas Crowell, and MSgt. Tara Brown, all who paid the ultimate sacrifice during overseas combat operations. AR-15 Product of the Week: now the AR15 training tip of the week: This week’s tip has to do with reloading.  Reload with only one hand, bring the muzzle of your rifle up slightly and cant the rifle to a 45 degree angle in a clockwise direction.  Use your non-dominant hand to load your new magazine. Main Topic: http://www.berettausa.com/arx100/ The Beretta ARX100 - Piston operated- Ambidextrious controls and operation (case ejection can be switched to left or right with the push of a button) - Tool-free barrel removal by pushing on 2 tabs on either side of the receiver, and barrel slips out for change of caliber or long/short barrel (5.56 and 300 blackout) - Accepts AR mags - Telescopic folding stock - No pins and can be disassembled without tools - Charging handle can be easily moved to either side - 3 magazine release buttons - Spring loaded popup sights, somewhat similar to the MagPul MBUS sights - MSRP is around $2,000 which is fairly steep when compared to an AR - Designed after the ARX160 which is a select fire model available to military and LE (Italian Army allegedly currently using it) - Gun is touted to be lubricant free except for the metal on metal contact points of the bolt Listener Feedback: Zach had a question about reducing felt recoil with a new buffer and/or muzzle brake or compensator. Michael commented that he realized he was able to upgrade his AR15 without the help of a gunsmith just by listening to the podcast. Manny had a question about barrels that we are going to answer next week when Reed is back for the show. Reed and Steve talk about AR-15 prepping, magazines and hit on the great 555/223 debate. Welcome to episode #24 of the AR15 Podcast.  I’m Reed Snyder with my special Co-host Steve, from Gun Guy Radio. This is THEE podcast about your favorite black rifle! This show is for you; whether you're building your first AR or you’ve been building ARs for years. There’s something we can all do to take our black rifle to the next level. The Network’s first theme week.  Prepping for the Apocalypse. AR-15 Product of the Week: M4 Maintenance Field Pack Main Topic:  Welcome to the Apocalypse Keeping your black rifle running after the Apocalypse Caliber choices for Armageddon Considerations when stockpiling magazines for the Cataclysm When all the batteries die after the Annihilation How we are giving the AR-15 Build away http://www.flickr.com/groups/blackrifle/ Updated Information for our Listeners Ammunition Yaw and the Mk262 Mod 1 Listener Feedback: John: I recently discovered your podcast and I think it's excellent. I was wondering if you guys have ever had the topic on your show about the controversial topic of firing 5.56 and .223? I understand that there is the same type of argument with 7.62 NATO and .308. I'm helping a friend with a build and this has become a big issue to him! It’s a very confusing subject and if you guys spoke of it I'm sure it would help many people understand what the real answer is. Eric: AR-15 (First Build): Phase 5 Muzzle Brake,16" Mossberg 5.56  +1/7 Barrel, Areo Precision Upper Receiver, Advanced Tactical Solutions NiB BCG, BCM Gunfighter Mod4 Charging Handle, Red Jacket Lower Receiver, PSA LPK, Magpul CTR Buttstock, MOE Pistol Grip, Magpul AFG2, Magpul XTM Enhanced Rail Covers, Troy M4 Folding Battle Sights. Glock 17: Polished Slide and Barrel and Pins, Extended Takedown Lever, Extended Slide Release, Maritime Spring Cups, TruGlo TFO Night Sights! Myles:  Thank you Andrew! I looked into north eastern arms and it looks like they don't just import to NZ, but what they import looks to be of much higher quality than the Bushmaster guns I had previously seen. They also don\'t look neutered excepting the lack of a collapsing stock and flashhider of course. But check out this little number. http://www.nzar15.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=33_70&products_id=133 Jake: Possible site for AR-15 parts...   http://www.jsesurplus.com/ Ronnie from Cincinnati: I really agree with the assessment that not enough attention has been paid to ammunition. I have listen to, read and watched a lot of NRA show coverage and little attention was focused there. Maybe you guys could get Federal, CCI, Winchester, etc. on the show to talk about the current state, future and innovation in that part of the industry. The regular shortages are what temper my enthusiasm for my guns. for new shooters, I feel really bad. The other issue that makes sense to discuss has to do with your comments regarding innovation. Though I am fairly new to the AR field, I have learned that mil-spec is what everybody focuses on. Is that good? I think that is great, maybe for a combat rifle but I believe it could lead to a dumbing down of weapons, accessory and ammo innovation. With the traditional gun crowd, what percent would you expect would want the federal government to take the lead on anything? I understand that our military has to be the best but so is our Treasury Dept.-tons of smart people, and we have a great education system here in the states, but what of the Dept. of Education Also, the military sticks with the same stuff for inordinate periods of time due to the rigors, politics and money associated with the procurement system. Please consider having a Bravo Company or Colt person on with a non-milspec company like, I don't know Rock River to discuss. You mention that Adcor is innovative, bring them on to talk about it. Anyway, I listen to all your episodes. Keep up the good work.

AR-15 Product of the Week: MSR Cleaning System Main Topic:  NRA Show Wrapup State of the Industry Future of the MSR People are people everywhere Some ideas for the podcast Listener Feedback: Bill in Virginia:  Hey Guys, great show , learning alot about ARs and how easy they are to work on and wish you could talk a little about the different triggers that are available because the standard triggers are gritty and hard to pull to pull and not very accurate. Thanks for an informative show Warner: Love the show and thanks for taking to time to teach others about self defense making us laugh at your expense while doing it! I have just picked up shooting, a couple years now even though i have been active duty USAF for about 10 years. I am moving to Belgium and cannot bring my firearms, but want to continue to train and learn. I also want to keep my family interested, so my only two options for weapons training seems to be either a Basic SIRT pistol or a LoneWolf Dist airsoft pistol to train at home. I have a Glock 19 and that is the firearm my wife and I enjoy shooting th most so I\'d like to continue training on that platform while still having something for the kids to safely start handling. What do you think about either option for the price point? Thanks! I have been spreading the words to all my fellow Airman about you shows and affiliates here in Korea. God Bless the USA. 15% discount on SIRT products with FRNNRA2013 or LoneWolf 10% with FRN Bill Stauter:  Jake, What are your thoughts on DPMS Panther Arms?  Do they make a good product. I\'m looking for an AR that I can put a .22LR conversion and have a plinker that has multiple uses.  Just curious on your thoughts. Bryan Bolivar: Good interview with Mike Hughes on the SIRT AR-15 bolt. My co-host at I both have one and we really like them. We did a review on episode 25 of Canadian Service Conditions Radio including tips on how to do the initial install. It\'s not really hard to figure out but we can all do with with a little help from our friends. I\'ll also say that the staff at Next Level Training are helpful and friendly. Don\'t hesitate to get in touch with them directly with questions and about ordering. Here is a link the the episode. http://www.canadianreloadradio.ca/crr/CSCR025.mp3 Jared from NJ: I don't know if this e-mail will reach you in time before the NRA show or not.  However if it does, check out the booth for Windham Weaponry. When Bushmaster was sold to Freedom Group, a bunch of the employees from Bushmaster did not want to put up with bologna and limitations that Freedom Group put upon them.  Therefore, they breached off and started Windham Weaponry.  Windham is the name of the town that Bushmaster was based in up in Maine. I own one of their NJ compliant AR-15's and absolutely love it. Mike F.: Hey guys, PA reporting in. Here's a story generating some buzz in the local news.  The sheriff of Chester County, Carolyn Bunny Walsh, is holding a fundraising raffle to help fund K-9 units. $20 a ticket gets your name in the running for bum...bum...bummmm..... a Colt AR-15!  For better or for worse (and judging by how our neighboring states are looking, it may be worse), the scary black rifle is the topic of discussion. Here's the link I read: http://mobile.philly.com/news/?wss=/philly/news/local/&id=205495811 Keep rockin on! Ps, I'm hoping to pick up an M&P Shield 9 at the Eagle Arms show this coming +Saturday. I could do without the AR, but was seriously considering trying to get Kel-Tec to make, or send me a .17hmr conversion kit (barrel, spring?) for a PMR 30. I think this would be a super cool pistol. The .22 mag is semi-appealing, but the hot little .17 would be really cool if it functioned on the same platform. What issues have you heard of concerning the .17 and semi-autos? Don't crush my dreams man. I really wanted that pistol design to work. I just email Kel-Tec yesterday. iTunes Review: Outro: feedback@ar15podcast.com Find us on iTunes http://www.ar15builder.com/ People Pages on Firearmsradio.tv Brownells White Oak Armament Geissele.com
