My grandma sung this for me once. She's not quite from the Red River Valley but pretty close.
G tune. I learned this version from Harry Bolick. A little bit of jug goes a long way.

I used to fancy this girl who played the fiddle. The various tracks don't line up perfectly on this song, but hey I still like it.
