Successful Practices using The Silva Method | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:28:57

I have been familiar with The Silva MethodTM for many years and have not always been a proponent of it. Jose Silva had no formal education and had little in the way of any evidence that what he taught was correct. In spite of all this, he created what we refer to today as an info-product around a practice that had little if any traction in the western world. He practically single-handily brought meditation to the Western World. This program or info-product was contained in one of my first audio cassette programs called The Silva Method: Home Study Course. I have this on and off-going relationship with meditation for over 25 years. In recent years, I have gravitated back to meditation finding it away to clear my thoughts and, as a result, a better form of engagement. I always attested to the old Zen saying, “to take a deep breath, you must first exhale.” To engage and collaborate with others, you must be willing to first let go. I found the Silva Intuition System based very much on the same principles. One thing that I always liked about the Silva Method is that it was guided meditation versus just a meditative practice. It was a process, and most of you know how I like a process! A long time trainer of the Silva Methods, Majorie Dearmont was gracious enough to appear on the Business podcast. Marjorie brings insight, understanding, depth and humor to her presentations and has received numerous Awards of Excellence and Special Achievement from Silva International through the years.  She is a member of the Silva International Advisory Board and a Certified Silva Success Coach. You can find Marjorie at http://marjoriedearmont.com.  Lean Sales and Marketing: Learn about using CAP-Do

 24 Steps to Successful Entrepreneurship | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:36:31

No, it’s not The 4-Hour Workweek. Entrepreneurship is hard. You have to love it to be successful.  Iterations, Prototypes, Experiments are all things that are not easy to do. A salient quote on twitter the other day; RT @Steve_Lockstep:If "Experimentation Is The New Planning" I hope non-scientists know how much planning goes into good experiments! My interview with Bill Aulet the managing director in the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship at MIT discusses his process described in his new book, Disciplined Entrepreneurship: 24 Steps to a Successful Startup. You can miss the podcast, but I highly recommend the book. It is already in its 2nd printing but of course available on Kindle. The artwork in the book is fantastic (Review it in this recent blog post, Can Entrepreneurship be taught?) so I would encourage you to have a minimum of a Kindle Fire for the best viewing. This book is also a great lesson for introducing new products within established companies.

Seizing the Competitive Advantage with Communication | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:18:52

At the ASQ 2013 Service Conference, The Pauleys will be presenting Seizing the Competitive Advantage with Service Quality on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Participants in this fun filled session will learn how to apply the concepts of Dr. Taibi Kahler’s Process Communication Model with their clients in building a positive relationship with each individual with whom they interact while providing quality service, thereby seizing the competitive advantage and building for the future. On Tuesday afternoon, I have the honor to be presenting at the same conference, Session T06: Lean Service Design. The Process Communication Model (PCM) was developed by Dr. Taibi Kahler and Judy and Joe Pauley have been teaching and implementing this model for over twenty years. The Six Personality Types of the Process Communication Model identified by Dr. Kahler are; Reactor, Workaholic, Persister, Dreamer, Rebel, and Promoter. From the Kahler Communication is an introduction on how PCM and Lean relate to each other: Lean has been referred to as a common sense organization of effort and people wonder why they haven’t always done things that way. People who apply the concepts of Process Communication say that the concepts “make sense” and wonder why they only now are being made aware of the concepts. Judy and Joe Pauley have written several books demonstrating the use of PCM: Teaching; Here’s How to Reach Me: Matching Instruction to Personality Types in Your Classroom Healthcare: Establishing A Culture of Patient Safety: Improving Communication, Building Relationships, and Using Quality Tools Leadership: Communication: The Key to Effective Leadership Judith Ann Pauley, PhD, is the CEO of Process Communications Inc., an international management communications training and development company.  She also is an Adjunct professor in the graduate education departments of 7 universities from New Hampshire to California, including the Education Leadership Program at George Mason University in Virginia and the Education Department at California State University San Marcos. Joseph F. Pauley is the President and COO of Kahler Communications (Washington, D.C.) and is an Adjunct professor at the same universities as Judith Ann.   Mr. Pauley served in a variety of   leadership positions in the navy during the Korean War.  After his naval service, he had a very successful 34-year leadership career with the U.S. government.  Twenty-one of those years he and his wife lived in Asia where he became an authority on managing, communicating with, and motivating people from other cultures.
