Sex, Religion, Power and Politics

Professor Janet Bennion, a professor of anthropology at Lyndon State College in Vermont, specializing in Mormon fundamentalist polygamy has spent 20 years living among and researching communities of fundamentalist, presenting papers the world over on how the media often dismisses the enormous variability hidden in poly family lifestyles - dta essential to informing policy on legislating marrior this new marriage frontier.  Tonight we'll discusy fraternal polyandry, , variableforms of polygamy and dispel myths about some of the women who believe this form of marriage works for them and why. In the second half of the show, Soula Saad, award winning French-Lebanese documentary filmaker who is the director and producer of the film, The Unheard Feminine Voice of the Middle East ,will discuss her film, the first uttering of a Global project called Feminitude, a sketch of the collective feminine voice of the planet over a ten year period.

Opening tonight's show is Carole Wells, author of Amberella: An Action Hero Adventure written especially for young girls to teach them how to protect themselves and overcome adversity. After the interview we'll chat with Flash Silvermoon and see what the cosmos has cooking for us all. Followed by our taking an interesting turn from the usual as I interview Tiziana Stupia about her memoir, Meeting Shiva: Falling and Rising in Love in the Indian Himalayas, as she tells about the fated love affair between herself and a Hindu monk.  She has much insight to share with listeners.  

Hillary Hart returns to discuss her second book, Body of Wisdom: Women's Spiritual Power and Hos it Serves.  We'll chat about the esoteric founations of women's power, the connection between women's spiritual power and the health of our environment,  and what gets in the way of women living in their power.  Also on the agenda to discuss is the spiritual aspects of breastfeeding and menstruation and she explains how "embodiment" is our next spiritual step. Carolyn Merino Mullin, the founder and Exec. Dir. of the National Museum of Animals and Society discusses the Sexual Politics of Meat.  We'll discuss rice as the universal food of empowerment, how women and chickens are treated similiarly in society, and she will tell us about the Defiant Daughters.  She'll also tell us what's behind her tattoo stating: Eat Rice, Have Faith in Women.

At the top of the hour, Polly Campbell, author of Imperfect Spirituality: Extraordinary Enlightenment for Ordinary People will discuss how to integrate those everyday moments with traditional spiritual techniques to experience personal growth and greater well-being all in the course of your regular routine.  She offers tips and examples and acecdotes to help us grow both spiritually and personally.  If you're feeling spiritually disconnected - listen in! Wencke Johanne Braathen, author of Rituals in Sacred Stone, A Historical Novel About Mary Magdalene, discusses the life and times of Jesus and Mary, including her belief Mary was a priestess of the old mystery schools well versed in working as spiritual technicians using the unseen forces using their expertise of physics that governs the spiritual worlds.  We'll discuss the sexual act as a fertility rite, and how Christianity kept the masses at a low level of development while those in power became wealthy.  And what conversation about Mary Magdalene would be complete without a chat about the Cathars and the Merovingian kings. Next up, author Judy Foster discusses her new book, Invisible Women of Pre-History: 3 Million Years of Peace and 6,000 Years of War.  Judy and linguist Marlene Derlet argue that the world experienced three million years of peace, a period when women's status in society was much higher than it is now. Crossing the threshold into the second half of the show, Sherry Ruth Anderson, author of Ripening Time, Inside Stories for Aging with Grace discusss her indispensible recommendations for growing into the deep places of wisdom as we age.  She helps us avoid culture's mind traps and recognize aging as a time of human ripening.

Rev. Ava from the Goddess Temple of Orange County in Southern CA discusses the harmful and low self-esteem behavior of being a mistress and why it's so much better to be a Queen.  We'll chat about the patriarchal stories of Hera and Zeus to today's mistresses, particularly since Hollywood is choosing to glamorize the concept as sexy, desireable and exciting.  

At the top of the show tonight, calling in from the U.K., Julia Stonehouse, author of Father's Seed, Mother's Sorrow, which is the story of how men came to be thought superior because of a totally wrong idea of the science  She'll share her research going back to prehistoric ideas of conception when female is central to the shift of woman as man's baby making machine.  Crossing the threshold, in the second half of the show, Anodea Judith, world-renowned teacher and bestselling author who has been called a prophet for our time will discuss her newest book, The Global Heart Awakens.  Judith will discuss her theory that humanity is going through a rite of passage from cultural adolescence into planetary adulthood, and chats about who we are, where we come from, where we're going.

Opening the show, I share some personal insights from some situations and contemplations called Goddess Notices and Embracing The Other.
