 #247, Endurance Hour | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 10:47

This week Dave and Wendy answer the following question from Troy via email: “I’ve been watching Endurance Hour for some time now, and it’s very helpful and encouraging! I’m 52, last year I was way over weight and terrible condition. Last year I began my workouts. I’ve been swimming 3x/wk for a year now. Started biking and lost 65 lbs. I did a sprint Triathlon at the end of July.  I now live in Oklahoma and have stated Joe Friel’s, “Your first triathlon”.  My question is, should I stick with that and just do an another sprint? I’m a pretty competitive guy and I enjoy the training. I can’t seem to find the right fit, don’t feel like I’m a complete beginner especially for the swim part. Just trying to fit this for my age, weight and health. I really wanted to shoot for an Olympic Triathlon this summer.” – Troy If you have a question you want featured on the podcast, email us at endurancehour@gmail.com or  send us a voicemail to Speakpipe.com/Endurancehour. Thanks for listening! This week Dave and Wendy answer the following question from Laura via email:  “I am entering my third season of triathlon and have signed up for Chattanooga Ironman in September. This will be my fourth full distance, and I am looking for a coach for the season. I have had two different coaches in the previous two years, one being a very good swimmer and the other being a very good runner. I have been a runner for many years, but since that is my strength I like to try to maintain that fitness. The swim is my weakest and I am an average cyclist. Fortunately I am one of those people who gets to spend most of the day passing people, which can definitely be a morale booster! It seems like all the coaches I have spoken with are strongest in one of the three disciplines, so I am unsure how to pick my area of greatest need. I am also considering online coaching, but I am looking for guidance on good questions to ask to gauge a good fit.  I need suggestions? Thank you so much for your help, and I love listening to your podcast!” – Laura If you have a question you want featured on the podcast, email us at endurancehour@gmail.com or  send us a voicemail to Speakpipe.com/Endurancehour. Thanks for listening! This week Dave and Wendy answer the following question from Joe via email:  I am interested in entering a 2 day race next year that consists of a 50 mile mountain bike race on Saturday followed by trail marathon on Sunday. I am considering buying your “Ironman 70.3 Training Plan for Beginners: 16 weeks” but have a couple of questions. Question 1: Considering that I will not swim in my race (no interest), should I just keep the plan as-is and just take out the swim workouts? Or perhaps, I should modify it in additional ways? Question 2: Considering that this race is not until August 2018 and that I am not in racing shape or weight, should I start with the “Ironman 70.3 Training Plan for Beginners: 16 weeks” plan then stack the “Ironman Training Plan for Beginners: 16 weeks”? That would put me right at 8 month mark.
