Se on yksi maan suosituimmista risteilyistä. Reittiä on liikennöinyt jo yli sadan vuoden ajan höyrylaiva SS Tarjanne. SS Tarjanne on Suomen viimeinen jäljellä oleva matkustajahöyrylaiva. Laivaan mahtuu noin sata matkustajaa miehistön ja ravintolahenkilökunnan lisäksi. Risteily on saanut nimensä vesimatkan noin 100 vuotta sitten tehneiden henkilöiden mukaan. Sakari Topelius ja Johan Ludvig Runeberg matkasivat samaa reittiä ensimmäisen kerran vuosisata sitten. Topelius oli kirjailija ja Runeberg oli Suomen kansallisrunoilija. Runoilijan tie alkaa matkalla Näsijärven halki. Sen jälkeen reitti kulkee Muroleen kanavan kautta kohti Ruovettä, jonka jälkeen suunnataan kohti kaupunkia nimeltä Virrat. Matkalla alitetaan laskusilta. Laiva ei valitettavasti voi kulkea reittiä laskusillan ollessa pois käytöstä, koska silta tukkii sen. Risteilyn aikana matkustajat näkevät taidemaalari Akseli Gallen-Kallelan kesäasunnon. Näsijärvi on suurin järvi Tampereen seudulla Suomessa. Talvella järvi jäätyy kokonaan, jolloin se on mitä parhain paikka murtomaahiihdolle. Monet hiihtäjät tekevät retken järven keskellä olevalla pienellä saarella sijaitsevalle majakalle. Toinen kiinnostava kohde järven läheisyydessä on Tammerkoski, joka yhdistää Näsijärven Pyhäjärveen. ----Formal English---- Poet's Way The Poet's Way is a water route that connects Virrat to Tampere in Finland. This is one of the most popular cruises in the country. The SS Tarjanne is the ship which makes the route, just as it had since the cruise first began more than one hundred years ago. The Tarjanne is the last passenger steamship left in Finland. About a hundred people can ride on it, and there is a small crew and restaurant staff. The name of this cruise comes from the people who first made the water journey about one hundred years ago. Zacharias Topelius and Johan Ludvig Runeberg first followed this path a century ago. Topelius was a writer, and Runeberg was a national poet in Finland. The Poet's Way begins with a trip across Lake Nasijarvi. The path then goes into the Murole Canal before heading to Ruovesi and then to the town of Virrat, passing under a drawbridge on the way. Unfortunately when the drawbridge is not operating, the ship can't get all the way through the path because the bridge does block it. During the course of the cruise, travelers will see the summer home of Akseli Gallen-Kallela, a painter. Lake Nasijarvi is the largest lake in the Tampere part of Finland. The lake freezes over completely during the winter, creating the perfect location for cross-country skiing. Many skiers like to make the trek out to the lighthouse, which sits on a small island in the middle of the lake. Another point of interest near the lake is the Tammerkoski Rapids, which connect Lake Nasijarvi with Lake Pyhajarvi. --------------------------- Learn Finnish with FinnishPod101!
